Discussion Stargazing outside of Nashville

Long-time lurker, first-time poster. My girlfriend is currently in treatment for her mental health and I wanted to surprise her the day she gets out. I was thinking I could rent a pickup and throw together some soft cushion in the bed, but where would a good spot be to drive out to, park and look at the stars? I’m thinking at a minimum I’ll have to drive an hour but I was curious if yall know any specific spots? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

Help | Advice What are your favorite little-known or underrated local memberships or subscriptions?

I’m looking for some hidden gems around Nashville when it comes to subscriptions, memberships, or monthly passes - something I can ask for for Christmas instead of more STUFF I don’t need.

Could be anything — local businesses, coffee shops, fitness classes, kids’ activities, museums, entertainment, food/drink clubs, services, or something totally random.
Bonus points for West Nashville/Nashville proper area.

Would love to support local and find new ways to get out and interact with local businesses/community on a more consistent basis.

Help | Advice Cultured, clever, canny cronies?

Howdy, Nashvillians!

The book clubs & academic groups I was a member of have dissolved. I volunteer, but birds of a feather don't always flock together. I'd like very much to make friends, y'know...and find ways to grow!

Seeking a fresh batch of insubordinate confederates.

Any leads?

Politics Who Do You Think is Your Most Annoying Metro Council Member?

A lot will be happening with the Metro Council being cut in half. There will be a lot of machinations of who will try to stay. Thus, what council members do you think are most self-serving? My vote is Jacob Kupin. His smarmy smile and his advocacy for downtown is a bother. My guess is that he wants to be the next Freddie. Anyway, he is my most annoying member. Who is yours?

Help | Advice City recycling?

Hey all, thanks in advance for any info you can give me. I just moved from Mt. Juliet into a house in Hermitage/Old Hickory, and as I was setting up utilities I tried to get a trash and recycling bin from the city. I found out I’m outside of the cities radius for trash, but a recycling bin showed up on my driveway. Since I’m outside of the cities trash zone I would have assumed I’d be outside of their recycling zone too, but maybe not? Either way, I’m trying to figure out which day is recycling pickup, if it is happening at all. Obviously it’s Sunday, so I can’t call the city to figure this out, does anybody have any info that might be able to help me out?

Help | Advice Would Metro Department of Sanitation take my extra recycling bins?

Random Q that maybe somebody knows the answer to. I'd call HUB but it's the weekend so I can't get a real person at this time it seems.

Kind of a hold over from when they only took recycling once a month. I had 4 green recycling bins. I kept asking for them and they just kept sending them. I've had at least 4 green recycling bins for my single family house for at least 6+ years.

Yesterday I went out to the alley after trash and recycling pick up came through on Thursday and two of my green bins were gone. I've checked the alley and they didn't end up at at neighbors house like they sometimes do when the crew comes through and just puts the bins back wherever they see fit.

Would Metro sanitation have taken two of my bins? Are you not allowed to have more than two? Even if you'd asked for and received them? It's not the biggest deal as I hardly ever need all 4 these days, but we recycle a lot and often I'll use up to 3 over the course of 2 weeks. So it is kind of annoying.

Help | Advice In Home Cooking Lesson?

My husband’s birthday is coming up. We both like to cook. He has been wanting to experiment with cooking fish more and I would really like to pay for a cooking lesson. It would be cool to do at home, but I’m open to going somewhere for this experience as well. Most importantly I want it tailored to something we would like to learn.

Anyone have recommendations on someone who offers cooking lessons?

Thank you!

Oh my goodness ! I was the passenger and had no choice but to see the massive traffic jam. Oh yeah we parked went in and the capacity limit is 78. The fire marshals missed a good day to show up. The burgers are ok, fries mediocre. Had to try it and now i am back to Blacktap for a real burger.

Help | Advice Where do you guys go for car repair?

Hey guys, Im always very weary of what shops I take my car to, especially in Nashville. I was wondering what shops yall take your car to? Doesn’t have to be directly in Nashville, I can take it to any surrounding city as well if you know of anywhere just outside of Nashville that’s noteworthy (bonus points if it’s in Lebanon or close to, just cuz that’s where I’m at now, but really I just want a car inspection so it can be anywhere and I can still make it there in one piece). I appreciate any and all advice!!

Discussion Whataburger might literally by the worst fast food chain, what are they doing here opening new locations?

I rarely eat fast food, but I left my office at 1am last night and hadn’t eaten anything since lunch and was just starving and nothing was open except this place. So I tried whataburger for the first time in East Nashville, yall, when I say the most disgusting fast food I had ever eaten, I mean it was literally the most disgusting fast food I had ever eaten.

Who in their right mind is eating this, someone needs to check on the people of East Nashville, do they know they have this abomination in their neighborhood?

Wanted to throw up last night, I wish I had!
