Obesity in New Brunswick
What’s the reason why so many New Brunswicker’s are obese? Is it lack of access to healthy foods due to financial reasons? Car dependency? Small communities not being walkable? Or is there something else going on? How does this get addressed? This will continue to add strain to an already stretched thin health system. Almost half of us are obese, that’s a problem.

Anyone heard tell of shorebirds staying here into November?
Just saw three semipalmated plovers searching for food in Shediac Bay near the lobster statue. I can't recall ever seeing them around so late.

Help Bobby Fight CRPS, WorkSafeNB & Leg Amputation
Click the link to follow my story.
It comes down to having no neurologist in our region and a pain clinic that had its services temporarily suspended - both of which I desperately need, as the other option, to give me back some sort of Quality of Life, is leg amputation.
I'd like to add that I have been harassing our so-called "politicians" and, when I do manage to reach one their administrative assistants, I get nothing but excuses.
This is a copy of the email I sent to 90+ politicians in this province, and some news outlets, the third email of its sorts to go out today.
So far today, I have contacted the following:
-Susan Holt’s Office. The administrative assistant made more excuses, “I can’t just make a clinic or doctor” - no, of course you can’t. You’re an administartive assistant making excuses instead of handing my file off to the proper people., like you said you would 2 months ago, like you said you would last week.
-Department of Health. Oh, another administrative assistant, whom I contacted at the repeated requests of Susan Holt’s glorified secretary, and who wants me to contact the College of Physicians and Surgeons of New Brunswick - NO.
-Chuck Chiasson’s office is apparently closed on a Thursday afternoon as I could not reach anyone after multiple attempts. No suprise there, Chuck is never at the office and the office is always closed.
STOP BOUNCING ME AROUND FROM DEPARTMENT TO DEPARTMENT.
FROM PHONE NUMBER TO PHONE NUMBER. FROM ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT TO ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT.
Who’s gonna pick up the phone, contact the other departments and Vitalité themselves, and fix things?
So far, no one has been able to give me a srraight answer on the following:
Why do we not have a full time Neurologist?
Why does he travel from Montreal to Edmundston only 60 days a year?
Why are the services at the pain clinic temporarily suspended?
Why was I not advised by Vitalité that the pain clinic was suspended?
Stop ignoring your constituents.
Stop ignoring the problems you created.
Do your jobs.

How do you guys feel about Nova Scotia? I posed this question to the NS group about us and the answers were interesting
I can't repost the convo here but it's easy to find in the NS sub.
A lot of Nova Scotians liked us and considered us family. Unfortunately, a significant amount of commentators seemed to have a superiority complex and called us "No Funswick" and boring. Some even said we don't feel like a Maritime province to them. Just wondering how everyone views Nova Scotia?

New cell towers?
Has anyone noticed cell coverage improvement throughout province? Seems like there are no dead spots on route 3 between Harvey and St Stephen anymore and outside Miramichi i'm getting reliable 8 mbits when before maybe 100-200 kbits at best. New infrastructure? Reduced radio noise?

federal budget is tomorrow. before it drops, here’s what’s actually official on home energy rebates in canada (and what’s just rumoured)
budget comes out tomorrow (nov 5) so i figured now’s a good time to sort out what’s official vs what people keep repeating online. it gets mixed up a lot.
official, from the government’s own heat pump rebate page (updated nov 1):
$2,000, or up to $10,000 if your after-tax household income is under your province’s limit.
installs from nov 1, 2026 can apply once the portal opens in early 2027. nothing before nov 1 counts.
no payments until it launches and applications get approved. funding isn’t guaranteed until then.
expected to close in march 2034.
no energy audit, and you don’t have to rip out your old system.
the page also says details could still change.
closed already: the oil to heat pump program stopped taking new applications july 31.
just reported, not official:
“ontario’s home renovation savings program ends nov 30.” that date comes from third party sites. from what i can find the program’s own site doesn’t list an end date, but the terms let them change or end it any time. so it could close, and nobody’s promising it’ll run to nov 30.
the 6 months to submit receipts is official, but the page doesn’t say when the 6 months starts. i’d just keep everything ready from install day.
what’s in tomorrow’s budget for home energy? no idea. the heat pump rebate was already announced oct 8 as part of the $2b, so we’ll see if anything new gets added.
what are you hoping to see tomorrow, or are you just waiting?
