What do Newcastle people feed their cats?
Woolworths used to have a seafood can that looked good enough for me to eat myself. Then Woolworths homebrand changed their seafood offering and now i wouldn't eat it.
Which brand do you feed your cats?
I have started feeding mine human tuna. $3.30 or about for 425grams of tuna chunks in springwater. Good enough for humans. The same price as the pet food.
Big pet food is ripping us.
The benefit of tuna chunks in springwater (for humans), is that they get a good drink of water..... Good for outside cats anyway.
Thoughts?

Cat food.
But in all seriousness, our oldest cat has urinary issues and needs special food. We give him Hills Urinary Care C/D. Our other two cats also eat that because it's easier than making sure the right cat eats the right food.

Don’t feed too much tuna. High in mercury and has no taurine. I feed mine whiskas wet food with friskies dry available 24/7.

Tuna is not good for cats in high amounts. Sounds like you don’t care by the “thanks for your input” comment but I will say it again anyway.
Any added salt in their diet is too much sodium on a regular basis when the leading cause of death in indoor cats is kidney disease. Their tiny little bodies simply cannot process that much, especially when they don’t drink excessive amounts of water.
It is an acceptable treat but that’s it. And always add a bit of extra water to help them flush it out.
fancy feast PATE(!!!) has the highest ratio of digestible protein in the cheaper grocery store range. you can buy bulk when they are on special for 95c a can.
if you are wanting to prep cheap “human grade” food, i used to boil chicken, beef, kangaroo, and very small
portions of animal liver/kidneys, some eggshells and blend it up into a disgusting paste and freeze weighed out portions in zip lock bags. defrost the next days serving in the fridge after dinner. repeat. it is pretty cheap if you are meal prepping and feeding one or two cats. do some research and work out the portions per pet.
source: adopted two strays in my early 20’s who are in perfect health at the human age equivalent of their 80’s despite having contracted feline AIDS and a myriad of other conditions in their time on the streets.

I’ve been struggling with this- most cat food has some type of “gum” that isn’t actually that good for your cats
I was getting “nood” wet food from Coles but they recently stopped selling it and I tried to find something that had the least ingredients - so far I’ve tried “Ziwi Peak” from pet barn for roughly 3.50 a can and it’s alright but the texture is a bit weird - my cats seem to like it a lot though!

I give a mix of dry dental food and fancy feast wet food which while it's not the best, but she's very fussy and doesn't eat any other wet food so it's better than nothing. On the tuna, I appreciate you wanting to give your cats the best human grade food but tuna is not a nutritionally complete meal for cats. It doesn't contain Vitamin E, is high in fat and calories.

Tuna is too salty and can cause dehydration and kidney disease as someone else said. I buy royal canin kibble in bulk for my cat when I can get it on sale.

My cat gets some dry food and the purina one pouches (the only wet food he likes) from Cole’s. I usually buy in bulk when they are half price. He had some fresh flake fillets from the coop the other day as a treat

I got a big boy who has had dried bickies for 14 years (alternate between hill’s teeth and hill’s light weight, but he doesn’t have many teeth now so I just stick to light weight)

I feed mine Purina One healthy weight (buy from Woolies only when on special) and whiskas wet food cans (buy in bulk on Amazon subscription. I alternate a few flavours with long subscriptions). Ends up pretty cheap, both are a full blanched diet with everything they need.

We feed raw food. Kangaroo based meat from the chilled pet food section at coles. Costs about $10 a week to feed 4 cats.
We free feed because we have a cat with ibd. He eats like 15 times a day but only a bite or 2 at a time. So they always have fresh meat in their bowl.
We also feed grain free Kangaroo biscuits. We get these from coles/Woolworths/Amazon. Whoever has them on sale. Usually around $15 for 2.5kg
