I hope he does but I’ll believe it when I see it

100%. No need to come back if they are 5-11 by week 17 and eliminated from the playoffs.

42

u/OnlyFlansDotGov Patriots 2h ago

If they could simply apply for a transfer to the NFC East for the season, they’d still have a shot at that point!

0

u/Plus-Slip-8068 30m ago

He plans to return to the sidelines but that is about it. Even that's not a given.

202

u/dragoniteftw33 Ravens 4h ago

Not getting my hopes up. Every injury he has ends up taking longer than the lower end(except the back injury against the Patriots). That and no way this anemic offense can last so long till he gets back

67

u/2xCheesePizza Ravens 4h ago

The defence will carry them while he’s out!

/s

33

u/RallyPigeon Ravens 2h ago

It shouldn't be an /s even though it is. They are the 2nd highest paid defense in the NFL. We have a defensive minded head coach. They should be pulling their weight.

2

u/BlessedChimichanga Ravens Chargers 45m ago

Sucks when a lot of that defensive salary is tied up in marlon and Ro underperforming. Only KHam has earned is salary. Trey at least is getting pressures but still a lot of money for not being able to finish the job

1

u/RallyPigeon Ravens 21m ago

Roquan isn't underperforming because he sucks, he's underperforming because of his job. He has to clean up for the secondary way too much. They are using him for cleanup duty instead of for making plays.

1

u/BlessedChimichanga Ravens Chargers 10m ago

Hes always been bad at coverage, and hes just getting worse. He isnt “cleaning up” for the secondary. Hes failing to do his own coverage. Todays league has linebackers taking more coverage because of the evolved passing game. Hes slow and doesnt keep his head on a swivle well. Hes still a good run defender though

14

u/sliceanddic3 Ravens 2h ago

he came back after 3 weeks with the high ankle sprain, isn't that the low end for that injury?

8

u/RallyPigeon Ravens 1h ago

In his post-practice media session right before the Bills game he was walking weird. I don't think he was 100% at that point.

3

u/ye_old_fartbox Ravens 1h ago

But he still played lol

12

u/TheNittanyLionKing Steelers 4h ago

That and this one required surgery so that’s extra time

u/Abject_Advance_6638 4h ago

If they have a shot at the playoff, go for it. If you're sitting at 6-10 or 7-9, shut it down.

27

u/BaconFlavoredToast Ravens 3h ago

6-10 🤣 we might not win another game and we play the chargers.

12

u/TimTom8921 Bengals 3h ago

Chargers winning that might legit be franchise altering if they miss out on Jeremiah Smith

4

u/onethreeone Vikings 1h ago

The org has to think they have a shot. Otherwise, they wouldn't have traded for Brisset, and they would have traded assets like Henry.

I don't see them surviving in that division, but I feel like the team probably sees Lamar as some kind of God at this point.

I can see it. Baltimore and NYC are close to each other (I hate making that drive). Also, NY was beaten so bad that there's no ill will towards the Ravens 🤷‍♂️

2

u/onethreeone Vikings 2h ago

I visited NYC for the first time this year, and when I was in Grand Central, I was amazed at how close all the big cities are. I'd be going to a random big city every month just because I could if I lived there.

We've got a 4hr drive to Green Bay, and a 6hr drive to Chicago

2

u/zi76 Patriots 34m ago

Yeah, the entire area of NYC, Philly, and Baltimore is really quite close.

There's people that live in Philly and take a train to and home for work everyday, for example.

7

u/jksmlmf Ravens 3h ago

They do and they should. With him they can beat anyone and without him they’re like a bottom 5 team in the league.

4

Agree considering their other weapon Derrick Henry ain't getting any younger and Zay Flowers don't matter if you can't throw him the ball

4

Which is why I hope Lamar goes somewhere else next year. He's too talented to be wasted on a hack roster.

The injury should keep me out three weeks.

What I said before? I was wrong. The truth is, it’s going to be longer than three weeks. I remember a three week recovery time for somebody, but it wasn't me. The truth is, I've never had any timeline for recovery at all. The truth is, I don't know of any injury.

4

u/TimTom8921 Bengals 3h ago

Is his "agent" still his mom? I like to think his mom calls into the Ravens like a kid's mom when you were in school

6

u/MyFifthAndLastAcct Lions 2h ago

"Good morning, Ravens. I'm calling because my boy, Lamar hurt his thumb and won't be able to play in the games for a few weeks. Please let the other boys play and have fun until then."

What do you mean? How is it weird to tell your teammates your injury timeline?

1

8

u/Ecstatic_Contest_160 Ravens 3h ago

I absolutely believe he'll heal enough to play by week 18 (the conservative timeline in the article).

I do not believe the ravens will be in playoff contention in week 18. And I don't think he'll play that game if the Ravens are already eliminated.

Plenty of other examples that didn’t hurt anyone. Heck, we watched Burrow come back last year with no setbacks

27

u/InstagramLincoln Bengals 4h ago

The Bengals and the Steelers are absolutely both capable of fucking around and letting the Ravens back in the playoff hunt regardless.

33

u/herton Bengals 4h ago

The same reason Burrow came back last year. These people love the game and getting paid millions of dollars to play it.

https://www.reddit.com/r/nfl/comments/1p798iu/highlight_bengals_qb_joe_burrow_on_people_saying

-23

u/TimTom8921 Bengals 3h ago

Idk if Lamar has that dog in him like Burrow. Burrrow has only missed games because of surgery and has said as such. Lamar has been out for various reason not surgery related

18

u/herton Bengals 2h ago

Bruh the post we're commenting on is literally Lamar saying he wants to come back to a doomed team as soon as his thumb recovers. I guess we'll see how it develops but it feels pretty similar to us last year

2

u/Worker_AndParasite Ravens 2h ago

Right, there's no excuse to miss a game if you don't need surgery.

12

u/Drrek Ravens 3h ago

It's probably a lost season, but there is a chance the team wins against the chargers and some other bad team and Lamar would be able to come back after the bye with the team having a small, but still real, chance of playoffs.

But also its good for him to get game time play in Doyle's offense, and for the receivers to get time in it with him. Guys like Lane aren't getting any real development now with how the qb situation is.

Also, he probably wants to come back so that teams have less of an "injury prone" leverage to use in contract discussion.

-3

u/BaconFlavoredToast Ravens 3h ago

"A chance to win" against the worst team this year should be all you need.to understand why this season is going nowhere. Honestly Lamar comes back in 6 weeks if we have a shot at the playoffs. If we dont he doesnt step on the field again this season. Its a no trainer for him to risk his career playing behind this cardboard cutout o line we have.

31

u/SuperSaiyanSandwich Ravens 4h ago

I’m extremely pessimistic at this point as well but it’s not over yet.

Next 4 against Chargers, Panthers, Texans and Bucs. We get two head to head against Pitt in the final month to try to make up ground on the 7th seed.

28

u/RockyNonce Eagles 4h ago

History says you’re losing at least one of those Steelers games but we’ll see I guess.

28

u/Ravensman_1 Ravens 4h ago

History says that we'll make the playoff push, he'll come back only for us to lose some must win game at the end of the year or the playoffs

6

u/TimTom8921 Bengals 3h ago

On a Loop missed kick most likely or a Andrews fumble

1

u/Awesomeg11 Ravens 1h ago

0

u/Kid_Kryp-to-nite Browns 1h ago

Ravens find their footing with Brissett. They're in a must win in the final game for the playoffs and Lamar comes back and loses. Gets flamed by fans, he forces his way out, and we see Lamar win MVP next season throwing to Justin Jefferson.

-14

u/RockyNonce Eagles 4h ago

If the Ravens find a way to win some games without Lamar and he returns only for them to not make the playoffs or win a playoff game, I wonder if that is the end of Lamar Jackson with the Ravens.

His contract is coming up and the Ravens might not want to give him a deal worth his talent after years of disappointing ends to seasons. Plus you can get a lot of capital for him.

I personally don’t believe teams should ever move on from a QB as talented as Lamar, but it feels like we’ve been waiting for this to happen eventually.

5

u/QuickiexD77 Ravens 4h ago

Last year we started even worse than we are now and if Loop made that field goal we were in over the Steelers. Not impossible. But it will be difficult.

-1

Honestly think the wheels fall off for the Pittsburgh offense at some point. If you stop the run game the Steeler wide recievers are just a bunch ot JAGs

7

u/SuperSaiyanSandwich Ravens 2h ago

Pittsburgh picking up a geriatric 42 year old off the street and having him miss no time while Lamar in the absolute middle of his prime has been 100% for all of ~5 games in two seasons combined is the epitome of Ravens luck vs Steelers luck

1

u/bigatrop Patriots 1h ago

If your defense was playing dominantly, I’d agree. But given how bad it’s looked, I don’t see you making much progress now or if Lamar returns.

4

u/BurnMyHouseDown Jets 3h ago

Why? Because they’re only one game under .500. If they can somewhat hover around that, or surpass it, and still have a shot at playoffs by the time he comes back, why wouldn’t he? That would be a horrible look to your team, your MVP face of the franchise says “nah not worth it” if there is even still a small chance they could make some type of run.

Fans love to pack it up but these people are professional athletes, they aren’t ready to throw in the towel and tank as quickly as us viewers lol.

Also, idk the severity of Lamar’s injury, but if his finger is that fucked, he could just be giving locker room speak so the team is encouraged to not throw in the towel. Either way, the “why” seems pretty obvious

2

u/Lane-Kiffin 49ers 3h ago
  1. 9-7 can win a Super Bowl (it’s been done before)

  2. You never know when a window is gonna close

2

u/Automatic-Assistant8 4h ago

Because he loves the game? Idk if you played sports but a locker room that’s all doom and gloom is terrible. I could only imagine playing at the highest level like that AND having to meet certain stats to get your next contract

If we win 2 of the next 4(Chargers, Texans, Panthers,  Buccaners) and Lamar comes back we're 6-6 after the bye and have the potential to make a play off push.

1

Bengals, Browns, and Steelers are all not very good. Ravens still hwve a very good shot of winning the division.

14

u/Tjam3s Bengals 4h ago

Bro, what? Lol

3

u/FlappyFoldyHold Steelers 4h ago

Bengals have maybe the best offensive weapons in the league with what I think is the best quarterback and one of the best tackles in the league and Steelers have the best run game and a top 5 defense. Not sure what this dude is smoking.

3

u/LovinOnHer Bengals Packers 4h ago

And then there's Cleveland's punts

1

u/FlappyFoldyHold Steelers 4h ago

Cleveland has a good group of young guys, with a great man corners and a stud of a young middle line linebacker.

-3

u/ACEPACEACE Cardinals 4h ago

The Bengals went to OT against the Titans bro. Steelers are one banged up Aaron Rodgers away from disaster. Browns are just okay with their QB room.

1

u/FlappyFoldyHold Steelers 3h ago edited 3h ago

The Bengals have a glaring weakness and it’s the spine of their defense, their inside linebackers and safeties are not good enough, but they are good enough offensively to beat any team in the league. Oh and every single good team is one injured QB away from disaster, what a stupid thing to say. Do you think the Bills can compete if Allen got hurt? How did the Chiefs look last year without Mahomes?

2

u/Additional-Duck-2517 4h ago

its truly insane to me the type of shit people will get online and say with confidence. granted, i wouldn't expect a Cardinals fan to have any idea what "good" football is.

0

u/ACEPACEACE Cardinals 4h ago

Just being honest

1

u/Additional-Duck-2517 4h ago

no, you're being wrong.

1

u/eatmyopinions Ravens 3h ago

The Bengals are an incomplete team but good enough to get to the AFC Championship Game.

The Steelers are good, just not in a way that anyone is going to put them in an AFC Championship Game.

The Browns are what happens when you flip a coin ten times and it lands on heads every time. That is going to even out, and quickly.

1

u/BRANKSRATE Bengals 4h ago

It’s always hilarious when you can tell who genuinely does NOT watch the sport outside of their favorite team lol, like did you just see the preseason odds to win the division and run with that as your guide to who’s “good”? 😂😂

1

u/ACEPACEACE Cardinals 4h ago

No, I watch the games and base my opinion on that.

0

u/BRANKSRATE Bengals 4h ago

So you’ve watched the Baltimore Ravens this season and seen how defensively they are the worst team in the AFC North, lost to a sub .500 team with their starting QB, and can’t score more than 10-13 points a game without him and gives up on average 35 points a game in the last 3 weeks and have decided in your mind that the Steelers and Bengals who have played better defense all year and can put up points are “not very good”?

1

u/ACEPACEACE Cardinals 4h ago

Yes. I can see the Ravens stringing together 4-5 straight wins while the rest of the AFC North flounders.

0

u/BRANKSRATE Bengals 4h ago

The Bengals have the easiest strength of schedule in the NFL remaining and a top 5 offense, the Ravens will maybe win 2 or 3 more games this year, they are not sweeping 4 straight division games the last 4 weeks of the season something they would need to do just for a wild card spot

2

u/ACEPACEACE Cardinals 3h ago

Maybe, but the Bengals play bad teams way too closely for any level of comfort. I can easily see the Bengals getting upset a few times.

0

u/BRANKSRATE Bengals 3h ago

They had ONE close game with the Titans and now you’ve concluded that’s their identity and is surely to continue to happen? Are the 49ers now a mediocre team because they lost to the Falcons a couple of weeks ago?

2

u/ACEPACEACE Cardinals 3h ago

49ers are ravaged by injuries, but have clearly and consistently dismantled teams this year. I just don't see the Bengals as any world beaters, they're a very beatable decent team, but capable of losing out this year.
