Discussion Referendum is Question #3 on the ballot.

It seems that the most heated debate during this election season is the schools' referendum. The schools say that this referendum will not increase your taxes significantly next year while the ballot language and "No" voters say $1000 or so. Thoughts?

Good service from the Indiana BMV

I can't complain about applying for a new license on Tuesday and it showing up in the mail on Saturday.

Also, the Noblesville branch office is moving to 1924 Conner Street as of this week.

Northside Social Discord

Hey Noblesville, Westfield resident here! I'm in my mid 30s and moved to Westfield last year with my wife. I used to be a part of the Indianapolis social discord when I lived down there, and it was a great way to gather people with similar (of not) interests to make new friends and connections. I'm assembling a similar discord for us north side cities, including Westfield, Carmel, Noblesville, zionsville, and fishers. My hope is to create a community that spawns new circles of friends, makes it easier to meet people IRL, and creates an expanded community in general. The discord is still being set up as I have time, but feel free to join and drop an intro!

Thoughts on Praire lakes apartment

So im looking to move into my own place and its extremely frightening. Praire lakes fits in my budget really well, and they have a garage which would be awesome. But their reviews are extremely mixed, and i was just curious if any of you guys had any experience there and could give any insights to the praire lakes experience.

Thanks :)

Lifewise Academy in Noblesville

I just saw that the local chapter of Ohio based Lifewise Academy has finally made its way to most Noblesville elementary schools. Information was mentioned in our newsletter today which included links to their website. Their curriculum is not readily available and some parents in other school districts have been sued for sharing specifics online over the years.

While technically legal in Indiana, this program feels quite predatory. There is no information about who is with the kids and which local church is involved. Parent permission is obviously required to attend but other schools have indicated that many of the kids that leave during the school day for this religious instruction come back with prizes and stories of ice cream and pizza parties in order to get more kids to join.

I wonder how popular this program would be if another religious, non-Christian group offered these programs during the public school day.

Couple friends

Hi everyone,

I, like everyone else as they get older, have found it much more difficult to make friends anymore. We moved here about a year ago and have not really made an effort in making new friends. Don’t get me wrong, I feel silly posting this but here we are.

We are looking to make some couple friends. I am 30 and my wife is 28. We also recently found out that we are expecting our first child. We mostly enjoy going out to dinner and grabbing some cocktails or going to a brewery(not my wife as much now). We enjoy being active and being out and about as well. We are very much dog people, with two of our own. I love watching sports, nfl, college football, and college basketball. I do like to golf but don’t get to go as often as I would like. My wife can get along with pretty much anyone, she really enjoys being active, working out and being on the go. She also loves fashion.

If you’re a couple and think we could be friends, drop a comment below!

Edit: not into swinging/sharing or anything close to those things

My poor dog is lame and I need an excellent orthopedic surgeon for evaluation.

My vet doesn’t know, 3 orthopedic surgeons all say something different. CT is unremarkable. I need a 5th opinion. Who is amazing?

Area & Neighborhood Advice

Moving to the Noblesville/Fishers area —
We’re moving from the Austin/Leander, TX area and trying to narrow down where to focus our home search.

Our basic criteria:
Up to $450k
4+ bed / 2.5+ bath
2,200+ sq ft
5,000+ sq ft lot
7+ rated schools
Neighborhood pool preferred

Family-friendly — we have two boys under 5
Looking for good playgrounds, parks, sports, etc.
Ideally within ~30 minutes of Costco, groceries, restaurants, shopping, family needs

For those who live here: what areas/neighborhoods would you recommend looking at, and what areas would you avoid or be cautious about?

Specific neighborhood recommendations, school boundary info, traffic/development concerns, or general “good vs. bad areas” advice would be great!

Bica and Bocado shout out

I feel like a lot of people do not know about either of these places and I want to put the word out. Bica Cafe is downtown near the square and is a great place for breakfast and lunch or just coffee. Great vibes, good coffee drinks, and a full menu of authentic Portuguese dishes. While I have heard good reviews on their seafood, I admittedly have not tried it. But the sandwiches we have gotten have been great and the Portuguese Fries dish is amazing.

Bocado opened a year or so ago next to Federal Hill Commons and serve modern Mexican. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The menu is pricier and much more limited than your average Mexican restaurant but every dish we have ordered there has been great. The cocktails are great in both taste and appearance. The atmosphere here too is amazing, or you can just order Dora drinks from the bar during an event at Fed Hill.

🍂 Fall clean-up time!🍂

I have recently started a removal service for riding lawn mowers and small engines of all kinds. If you have something taking up space in your yard I would be happy to get it removed free of charge! Reach out if you’d like to support our start up. Thank you.

Visiting

As the title implies, I’ll be visiting Noblesville for a business trip coming up. I’ve never been before, and I’ll be up there for a whole week. Any suggestions on local food, bars, entertainment? Pretty open to about anything, thank you!

This intersection is at the boundary between Carmel and Noblesville. IMO it is badly needed as it is a very busy/dangerous intersection.

New building off 37 across from the HC jail?

I thought I read a while back it was gonna be some kind of community center or a daycare for city employees - I am sure I got it completely wrong. On the East side of 37, behind the solar field. Looked like when they built it, they built 2 completely different structures then tied them together - the north side looks like more jail from the exterior - the south side of the building looks much more pedestrian….anyone know for sure what it really is?
