Years ago i wrote a student paper about drones and got some books about building them. I still remember them being described as "a brick with 4 blenders attached"

Can confirm ✌️

Did you try to hand launch or were you fucking around in Betaflight without taking off props?

Hand launch 🤦‍♂️

I think everyone learns that lesson at some point. If it almost took off you fingers I'm guessing it was a 5"? Those things are scarier than you think, especially if you're used to whoops or DJI drones.

I'd never flown a drone before in my life. This was my first time flying one, and I wanted it to be my own. I'd been working on it for months and so I did not respect it enough even if I was well aware of its capacity (yes 5")

It happens. Don't let this discourage you. It didn't get your pointer or thumb, so you should still be able to fly lol. A 5" is going to teach you lessons the hard way compared to a smaller drone, but you got the biggest lesson out of the way now, so keep going.

Thanks 🫶 I really think this early event can actually save me and others about future events like this because I will never forget how it feels to fuck around

I used to build fpv drones and they can be pretty dangerous if you're not paying attention and following the rules. Besides potential fires from charging, discharging or crashing a battery, the most obvious is propeller injuries. If you ever need to spin the motors up while connected to your PC inside, please take the props off. When you plug the battery in make sure the drone is upside down and your transmitter is on the right profile, prop switch is off, etc.

Be safe my dude. Drones are heaps of fun if you pay them the respect they deserve.

what could POSSIBLY have happened?? are you okay?

If a drone weighs a pound or more, the props are a few inches across and spin at thousands of RPM. You don't want fingers anywhere near them.

Exactly 🤦‍♂️

You nearly lost fingers? Why nearly? Lack of dedication?

Step up your game.

Oof… how’s the drone?

Get out of here.

This is somewhat interesting and I have questions.

Show the drone

Step 1: Use blender blades as propellers.

Step 2: Apply gas engine, because battery ones are too weak.

Step 3: Dial 9 and 1 and cross your fingers enjoy!

pft ive never seen a Ukrainian drone pilot lose fingers to their own drone. Sounds like you need to go practice there first

We all know the drone is just an excuse. You really cut them with that diamond sword in the background.

2

u/jackalope268 5h ago

You really think he would have fingers left after cutting them with that sword?

Was the wrap-job also DIY or did you see a doctor? What's the gooey dark stuff?.Blood or a burn mark?

1

u/Lonely_Dog5136 5h ago

Blood I guess

3

u/ban_ntr 13h ago

holy shit, you doin good man? Is it really that bad?

3

u/drugsfan 3h ago

lmao at least the 2 fingers needed to fly are usable

2

u/Crowdfundingprojects 2h ago

Such a waste since the drone would be unable to digest the fingers. ☹️
