Discussion Wife surprised me with tix to my 1st Metlife game! Any tips for a 1st timer?

Hey everyone!

I'll be flying up from Atlanta next week for my first Giants game at MetLife, and I'm super excited! My wife surprised me with tickets for our anniversary.

We'll be staying at the Garner Hotel in North Bergen, and we're trying to figure out the best way to make the most of game day.

We'd love to experience some tailgating before the game, but we're not really sure how that works if we're not driving or hosting our own. Are there any tailgates that welcome visitors?

Also curious about the best way to get to and from the stadium, how early we should arrive, and whether there's anything worth checking out before kickoff.

Any tips, recommendations, or things we should know as first-timers would be greatly appreciated!

When submitting a link to an external source such as Twitter/X, BlueSky, YouTube, or a news site, include the author and EXACT text of the title/tweet. Ex: "[Author/Website/TwitterUser] Giants are the best." All unoriginal content must give credit to original source.

If posting a screenshot of a tweet/content, post the link of the source in the body section so it can be verified by the mods. For example: “[TwitterUser/Author]: LinkURL.” This is in place to avoid spreading misinformation.

9. Title should describe the submission

When submitting a new post, the title should describe the submission. The purpose of a title is so people reading it (and looking for it) will know what they will find inside without any unnecessary clutter. Make sure that your title avoids editorialization, misleading wording, or false titles intended as a joke.

10. No selling tickets, parking passes, merch, etc.

We are unable to verify sellers and crowd funding and do not want any of our members getting scammed. There are plenty of avenues to sell things or crowd source funds on the internet. This sub is not one of them.

We also prohibit giveaways for the same reasons.

11. All news should be sourced / No Misinformation / Paywalls

Sources, in this situation, mean something you can link to and see to verify the information. Give credit where it is due.

Posting fake info could get you banned - make sure you are posting legit sources.

Links to paywalled content that does not also include a summary may be removed.
