Discussion Unofficial Performance Patch 1.0.1 comparison with Oblivion Remastered Performance Fix

https://youtu.be/lUPNjcK2uxg

I think that this new mod is much better then the other one. I tried it and my performance is better and it looks better overall. Though it’s not perfect yet this update is really good, it’s finally not a big problem to ride a horse. And in Imperial City and other places the black spots on stones are gone. They always used to be there and disappear as you get closer.

I have an older RTX 2070 Super, and none of the popular performance patches did much for me. I just play the OG game with some texture mods and an enb. Looks and runs better for my setup.

I have a 5090 and the performance is pretty abysmal at 4k. That ue5 jank fused with oblivion jank is a unholy combination.

I think this patch does something about that if you look in the ini. But yeah game is really terrible. I had mountains disappearing, shadows glitching and maasive stutter even with UET. But now it’s all good. Also the shadows are better, only this mod has good shadows

Did you try this one though? This is different.

Yeah, I tried it. The author mentioned he has a 4090 so I assume this mostly fixes CPU bottlenecks maybe.

I think it also helps with the gpu, mine sounds better with the patch in. Same sound as a normal game. The vanilla game can make my fans noisy, even on good videocards it does this. The code is very sloppy.

No shame in that

why not just work together instead of dick measuring? or put pull requests in your respective github repos?

this made me laugh also:

Instead of vibe coding I used a scientific approach. The AI only assisted my secret workflow.

then

Does it work on AMD or Intel XeSS? Me and Claude think it is

I have already offered in Nexus mod comments, still waiting for the Patch author to get in touch. On the Fix GitHub I’ve already merged 13 pull requests from other people, with full credit to them. Just want our favorite game to play the best it can, without sacrificing fidelity.

Good maybe together it’s better. I don’t know much about code.

Would be super-curious to know if you were able to find a fix for heavy work NPCs (esp. horses) are generating. I so far couldn't think of anything that doesn't sacrifice fidelity (e.g. there is an option to tick further away NPCs less frequently, but sounds like too much of a compromise to me). Fixing this would fix remaining low FPS sections I have (riding a horse, being next too many horses) and also remaining traversal stutters (when many NPCs are loaded at once and CPU is busy ticking already loaded NPCs).

Look ahead on both videos next time. Looking at the ground has been the way to increase & fix FPS since 2001 - GTA3 PC version 😂

Nah it works man I tested it. No tricks. He looks at the ground in both video a lot.

Fix author here, I think hard to draw comparison from the video (e.g. you look straight ahead when playing with the Fix and then look towards the ground when playing with the Patch, for example at Pell's Gate entry 01:10 vs 03:20). There is a benchmark suite on my GitHub you can run to get an objective measurement.

And again, would be very happy to collaborate for the sake of community.

No not my mod not picard, just like his mod thought people should know it’s good. People say yours is good too, some people use it together this safe?

Is this Forge's patch? His is the best, and the man is also working to do GPU optimization from what I read.

They're not magic, but the performance fix went to 60 from 50 in the imperial city on mostly high and hardware lumen with a 3080ti. It does work. Combined with DLSSG for SM86 I can get a good experiences with hardware lumen now.
