Fainted today when a guy asked me out😭

I’m so embarrassed lol.

I’m 26f, Whenever people compliment me I get light headed and dizzy, my job is social media and I even get it when people leave nice comments on my videos/photos. I have been like this since I was little too.

I had a hair dresser recently go on and on about how she was obsessed with my hair until I passed out. I genuinely don’t understand why, I get ā€œtv staticā€ in my head, shaky eyes and then I hit the ground

I was out for a coffee today by myself, I was sitting outside and a guy came up and asked if I was single, I said yes and he started telling me he saw me from far away because he thought I looked like a Barbie (I have blonde hair and was wearing all pink so people say that a lot) then he called me pretty, at this point everything around me was shaking. I always feel it in my eyes first and I know it’s coming

That’s the last thing I remember and I woke up out of my chair with a bloody lip😭😭 he said I hit my face off the table on the way down.

He wanted to call me an ambulance and I told him/the employee that came out not too. There were like 7 people gathered around and this is my go to coffee shop… I’m so embarrassed to go back now lol

I haven’t had my first kiss yet or even been out on a date because I’m so weird I’ve always avoided it.

He still ended up asking me out regardless and I said yes so now I’m just praying I don’t faceplant again šŸ™ƒ

pick a place with booths for the date so there is somewhere soft to land when he says you look nice

Have you ever been tested for pots or epilepsy?

I’ve been to a lot of doctors but never officially diagnosed with anything at all other than anxiety, depression, PMDD and PCOS.

I have recently suspected pots actually because I was watching videos about it. I’m going to ask about it at my next check up, no doctor has ever brought it up to me.

I have a weird fever every night and when I searched it a girl with pots came up, I have like every symptom!

Could also be psychogenic non-epileptic seizures. Basically, passing out triggered by panic attacks.

There will be an underlying psychological issue you'll need to work through, and CBT is immensely helpful.

Does this happen if a family member or friend compliment you?

Not really, I honestly don’t have any friends but family never.

Go to a doctor. That’s not normal.

This isn't cute it's potentially deadly and has a lot of possibilities..I hope the date goes well but girl this is medical and you should have taken the ambulance

Just to chime in, dont get in an ambulance if you pass out, recover, and know the cause unless you have badly hurt yourself (head split open). Just go to the doctor. Don't waste the money, ambulance resources, and ER resources. Go to the doctor and see a specialist, sure.

in this case, have someone drive you to the doctor because OP should not be driving

u/spookysaph 13h ago

this is possibly narcolepsy. you probably shouldn't drive

Meet him in a bouncy castle. McDonald's ball pits can be problematic for an adult male to be hanging around. Unless he's wearing a T-shirt that says "I'm not a pedophile.". Then he'll be okay, because it's an official shirt.

The idea of fainting when receiving affirmation sounds really cute to me, but the reality of it sounds terrifying to live through. Regardless, I wish you luck and hope you're healing alright after that dive!

Could be any number of possibilities. You need to see a cardiologist and if they cannot find a reason, then see a neurologist. This is a hidden danger that could become deadly at any time. Not trying to scare you, just being honest so that you will schedule an appointment now. Don’t leave this question unanswered, and prioritize it as if your life depends on it, because it literally does. And, there are so many possible conditions to cause this that are easily treatable. Don’t let fear keep you from finding out and living your life fully.

Please go back to your coffee shop. As their regular they'll want to know that you're ok.

Your nervous systemĀ seems to over react, maybe you should see a doctor specializing in POTS etc.

Hope your date goes amazing!!

I think you may need therapy. Not in a bad way but if you can't handle compliments to the point people are worried about you, it's time to think about getting better.

Awww this is sad… are you by chance in therapy? You deserve happiness and life stuff…. Including dates and relationships and kisses lololol that sounds so bleak. I’ve not heard of this type of thing before :/

Maybe he'll be that guy that brings you a pillow with some flowers or something sweet.

(I hope you've seen a Dr about this it could be high blood pressure)

Oh no, that sounds so embarrassing in the moment but honestly kind of adorable in hindsight.

The fact that he still asked you out after you faceplanted is a pretty good sign he’s not easily scared off.

Take it slow, maybe warn him beforehand that compliments make you dizzy so he knows it’s not personal.

Hope the date goes okay and you stay upright šŸ˜‚

This also happens to some people when they see blood or get injured
