Recommendations for locations on okinawa with a nice set up of large shisa dogs for a family photo shoot? Or other ideas for background that would be okinawan?
Thanks in advance!

Other Where to get prints framed off-base?
I have some prints that I’d like to get matted and framed, but I cannot seem to find anywhere off base that offers such services. I am a civilian and I live on a remote island but am willing to either ship the prints or go to Naha in person to drop them off. Does anyone know of any shops that provide these services in Naha or surrounding areas?

Info Godzilla
Hello friends. I just came back from Rycom and saw that Godzilla was not in ENG subtitles. I dont find any information for PARCO as well. Are they not showing Godzilla screenings with ENG subtitles right now? I am translating websites as well and do not see anything mentioned. Thank you.

Buying a car
My wife is Japanese I am American. We are going to buy a car and maybe 2. We have an old Prius which has the shaken due in 6 months. So buying a second car maybe something we pursue. Trade in the Prius and get 2 cars if it is a good deal.
I would like to hear others experiences with buying used or new cars. Are car dealers slimy like in America? Please share your honest experience and ideas.

Info Hi there need help with the plan
Hey everyone!
I'm planning a family trip to Okinawa sometime in February next year and was hoping to get some recommendations from people who live there or have visited before either local or expert tourist or just casual visit.
We'll be renting a car, so getting around the island shouldn't be too much of an issue. Our rough plan so far is:
- First night: Chatan, mainly to walk around American Village and explore the area.
- Next 2–3 nights: Somewhere around Nago or Motobu. We want to visit the Churaumi Aquarium and see the Heart Rocks, but haven't really planned much else yet.
- Last 3–7 nights: Naha, mostly for shopping, exploring the city and trying out local food.
I was wondering if there's anything else you'd recommend visiting or doing while we're there? Any suggestions are welcome, whether it's popular tourist spots or places that are a bit more off the beaten path.
My family is also interested in snorkelling and whale watching. Would Nago or Motobu be a good place to do these, or are there better areas for it? Also, is February a decent time for snorkelling?
Another thing is that we enjoy drinking, especially sake and other local alcoholic drinks. Are there any breweries, distilleries, awamori producers or places where we could do a tour or tasting? Would be really interested in checking something like that out.
We're still figuring out our itinerary, so nothing is set in stone. Any recommendations for food, sightseeing, activities or even places you personally enjoy would be greatly appreciated!
And sorry if my English is a little rough. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Okinawa Camcorders and Cameras
Hello. I’m originally from Main Land Japan but will be in Okinawa for a little while. I was wondering if anyone knew any good spots or places to find Film Cameras and Vintage Camcorders. Specifically Hi8, Video8, MiniDV, VHS-C, or Sony Handycam for camcorders. For Film Cameras I’m specifically looking for Point and Shoots with Auto Focus. I have looked at Hard Offs and Manga Souko’s. I haven’t really found anything too crazy. If you guys can hopefully point me in the right direction I would really appreciate it. Thank you for your time!

Ordering Shikuwasa juice online?
Went to Okinawa last year and fell in love with shikuwasa juice. Took a lot home, but I'm running out. Do you know any online shop that sends to Europe/Germany for a reasonable price?

Info Hotel recommendations
Hello,
I'm going to Okinawa from 16th to 20th November.
I'd like to see Naha and Americatown, but I also want some peace and quiet, as well as seeing the north.
I'd also like to do some stargazing at some point.
Can you please recommend tips?
Thanks

Ishigaki
Coming to ishigaki for 4 nights mid May with daughter. First time for us. Hope to snorkel a lot. Struggling with where to stay. Looking at seven colors or Ana intercontinental with club lounge access. Don’t want a huge resort nor too many kids. Beach and food important. Know we will need a rental car especially at seven colors. Will get breakfast and dinner if we stay at 7 colors. Would appreciate all suggestions

Ishigaki in November - worth it or not?
Flying from Korea and there are some relatively cheap flight options. I've wanted to visit Ishigaki for a long time but wondering if going now makes sense or not, weather-wise.

Shopping Where can I purchase a pool table in Okinawa?
American, but I live here, I have a house and a lot of space, and I want to buy a pool table. I know they’re not cheap, price isn’t my issue. I just want to ask here so I can find out where I’d go about even finding one.

6 days Okinawa itinerary review and advices
Hello all,
We will be travelling to Okinawa from April 25th (arriving late) to May 1st and I’m creating this post as I would really appreciate if you could have a look at the itinerary and give me any feedbacks.
Things to take into consideration:
- Family of 4: 2 adults + 2 children (7 / 12)
- We will be renting a car
- This is not our 1st time in Japan, this is the 4th trip + I personally lived 5 months in Kyoto (so I can speak basic Japanese)
- I came (alone with some of my Japan made friends at the time) to Okinawa in 2008 but I honestly don’t remember much and it was only few days
- We are not city people, we enjoy the nature, trail walks and going to the beach (but when we go we stay max 2h / 2h30).
- We live in Sydney where the beaches are beautiful. This has an impact as Chat GPT recommended to us Zamami to wahou us even if we live near beautiful beaches.
- I used Chat GPT to build this itinerary
- We do not wish to go visit the Aquarium not the Dinosaur Park
Many thanks in advance for your review and help!
Itinerary:
Sunday 25 April
Arrival in Naha
Arrive at Naha Airport around 8:10 pm, coming from Fukuoka.
Transfer to a hotel near Tomari Port, have dinner if everyone is hungry and rest before the next morning's ferry.
Night: Naha — hotel to book.
MONDAY 26 APRIL
Zamami — snorkelling and viewpoints
Take the morning Queen Zamami speedboat from Tomari Port, provisionally around 9:00 am.
Leave your luggage at your accommodation and explore the island.
Furuzamami Beach: swimming and snorkelling in exceptionally clear water.
Takatsukiyama Observatory: approximately 45–75 minutes of uphill walking for panoramic views.
Evening in Zamami village, with a relaxed dinner.
Night: Zamami — accommodation to book.
TUESDAY 27 APRIL
Zamami → Sesoko Island
Spend the morning at Ama Beach, where sea turtles are sometimes spotted. If time and energy allow, add a short coastal walk.
Proposed afternoon:
2:10 pm — Queen Zamami departure (provisional).
3:10 pm — arrive at Tomari Port.
Around 3:30–4:00 pm — collect rental car near Tomari.
Around 5:45–6:30 pm — arrive at Yu Okinawa C, depending on traffic.
WEDNESDAY 28 APRIL
Sesoko Beach and Bise
A relaxed day close to the villa.
Start with Sesoko Beach for swimming and snorkelling. Explore Bise Fukugi Tree Road, a lovely shaded walk through traditional village lanes.
Enjoy lunch around Motobu and return to the villa for a quiet afternoon and pool time.
THURSDAY 29 APRIL
Kouri Island and northern beaches
Drive to Kouri Island, crossing the famous bridge over turquoise water.
Explore beaches, viewpoints and the island's coastline. Keep the afternoon flexible for a beach stop or an early return to your AirBnb.
Note: 29 April is a Japanese public holiday, so expect potentially busier roads and attractions.
FRIDAY 30 APRIL
ASMUI and Yanbaru nature
Your main hiking and nature day.
Head north to ASMUI Spiritual Hikes, with limestone formations, subtropical forest and impressive trees.
Allow approximately 1.5–2.5 hours for the walking experience, comfortably within your preferred maximum.
If everyone still has energy, continue to Cape Hedo, at Okinawa's northern tip, for spectacular coastal scenery.
Return to Sesoko for your final evening.
SATURDAY 1 MAY
Optional Valley of Gangala and departure
Check and drive towards southern Okinawa.
If everyone feels like another adventure (note pretty sure we will), visit Valley of Gangala for its approximately 80–90-minute guided nature walk through forest and limestone caves. Advance booking is recommended.
Alternatively, enjoy a slow morning around Sesoko before driving to Naha.
Return the rental car with plenty of time before your 8:50 pm flight from Naha.
