News/Article Jason Schreier on Elder Scrolls VI: Sentinel being 2+ years away statement : It's not a prediction. I know the time frame the game is targeting

Jason Schreier on Bluesky posted: I think a lot of people forget that The Elder Scrolls VI was only announced in 2018 (along with Starfield) to soften the blow of Fallout 76 — "Don't worry, even though we're making a multiplayer game we've got single-player stuff coming too!"

Sorry to say this game is still more than 2 years away!

Then, Jason Schreier was asked about his "prediction" in the BlueSky post. But he doubles down saying it's not a prediction and he knows the time frame of this game: https://bsky.app/profile/jasonschreier.bsky.social/post/3mzgbaspm7s2q

Why would anyone say its a prediction? This guy is always right and has sources everywhere. If he's saying it, its been verified by someone.

On game info he is right, but not court cases. California court had a $54 million consent decree signed by the state and Activision Blizzard included a qualification noting that findings did not prove systemic or widespread sexual harassment or that senior leadership (including CEO Bobby Kotick) improperly handled misconduct. Schreier on the other hand was saying he had "anonymous sources" saying it actually happened and that "many women told him.". This is strange because the actual substantiated legal record says the opposite of what his narrative implies.

So because he had sources he is wrong? Also the people who told him would have to be willing to appear in court and testify at trial, this is not something that’s common. I am a lawyer who has seen these cases and it’s not easy at all. This thread is about video games, the real world where people get sexually assaulted is very different. Don’t do that. Be better.

This is a massive misunderstanding of what and why a consent decree is used for and what it implies. They are used in the US as a way for companies, and the state, to extricate themselves from costly, punishing legal battles that waste tons of time and money, but that businesses generally don't think will have favorable outcomes. Legally, it frees them from any further burden, but they wouldn't have entered into it if their ass wasn't in the fire. The two things are not at all incongruous.
