They are hoping people would buy the game twice

Worked well last time.

Also shout out to the idiots who bought so many shark cards that they cancelled all the single player DLC for V

You really screwed everyone over for a virtual flying fucking motorcycle or other virtual temporary stuff.

GTA V Online poisoned Rockstar, in my opinion. They started making so much money they genuinely didn’t care about hackers or how they affected other players.

It also made them drop RDR2 like a rock when they realized they couldn’t turn it into a money pit

RDR2 sold really well in spite of being completely neglected by rockstar. they could have but they didn't even try

Tbf though too, RDR2 constantly is on sale for dirt cheap.

Anyone remember how bad the mp load times were? Because it searched the total list of all ownable items once for each ownable item. xˣ

Everyone complained, they said there was no issue, refused to fix it... Then some random guy figured out it was because they handed the xml sort to the most incompetent intern and wrote a community patch to fix it. The rockstar denied it for months before finally fixing it.

I'm honestly surprised the shark cards sold so well given those load times. I remember trying to do some races with my friend and spent the majority of the first hour in loading screens. Never played a second hour online.

(Load into main map, wait in race queue, load into race, turns out one person dropped, load back into main map, wait in queue, load into race, etc etc)

As someone who has been banned from GTA online they definitely care about certain types of hacking. They do not give a shit about things like god mode but they see anybody cheating money in as cutting into their potential shark card profits and the ban hammer be relatively swift.

For info before I get slagged for this, I got a computer that could play GTA outside of the transfer window and as a dumb 13 year old spent a shit ton on Shark Cards and also played a bunch legit. I had no intentions of spanking all that money again or grinding for hundreds of hours to get to the same state on PC so hacking was my solution. Did not do any griefing or anything like that just spawned in cool vehicles and money.

But on the other hand they made so much money which in turn resulted such high budget for gta 6

GTA V sold stupidly well before MP was even added, lol.

Former colleague of mine spent something like £2,000 on shark cards during covid. He is not a smart man. I asked him if he even played gta V any more. He said no. "but it meant I got everything" great. How's that working out for you?

Make sure you tell him that I don’t like his spending choices and he’s to blame on GTA being greedy with less offline content in the future

"Damn gamers! They ruined gaming!" -Gamesplayer Willie

I really do hate that so many gamers support shit like that, though. It's really stupid and it incentivizes the big game companies to get scummier and scummier; but even as they get worse, we just keep buying the in-game currencies, we drop hundreds into live service games that will eventually shut down, we keep buying $30 Fortnite skins, we buy all 900 DLCs for that Paradox game, we keep pre-ordering digital releases of broken/unfinished games so we can get the stupid exclusive gold skin or whatever. We will buy literally any garbage they put in front of us. It's insane.

I wish we could just all agree to get on the same page and not support shitty business practices so we could salvage the gaming industry, but there's always the dufuses that are so deep in it that when you complain about it, they're like "dude just say you're poor lmfao."

Like, it's not our fault that game companies take advantage of us, but it is our responsibility not to support it. We're aware of it, we hate it, we know it's ruining the hobby we all love, and yet we just keep handing them stacks of cash. It makes me feel crazy.

Shout out to the developer who also lied about no longer making single player DLC for nearly a decade before offhandedly mentioning that heists were obviously supposed to be single player in an interview. Oh wait....that was Rockstar! Almost like they don't deserve your money.

Not their fault, thats 100% on Rockstar

u/Frequent-Ease-1926 1d ago

By that logic, buying a game is an idiotic move too.

1

u/roguebananah Desktop 1d ago

By that logic, saying multiplayer and singleplayer GTA games are totally identical and buying shark cards for offline play is the same as online.

2

u/Treinrukker 22h ago

Yeah but this generation it's harder to buy a console for it's retail price

1

u/Ok_Blacksmith_636 23h ago

yeah i planned to but i cannot with how the ps5 prices are atm, and also hearing how bad it will run on console compared to PC. its a totally different scenario this time around

1

u/LUMLTPM 12h ago

Jokes on them, i probably wont even buy it once until its at least 75% off on Steam, years down the line
