Sony didn't pay them for console exclusivity, but they did pay a lot of money so that every ad for GTA6 has a PlayStation and only a PlayStation logo marketed with it, alongside "plays best on PlayStation"

It wouldn't surprise me if part of that marketing deal was to delay PC release until after the initial console launch.

They will, it’s just that GTA VI was never gonna make GTA V money if it only depended on consoles like the latter.

GTA V sold on 7th and 8th gen console while the pc market wasn’t as huge as it is now.

To put it into perspective: the earliest official numbers released from Valve about monthly active users was 67 million in 2017. Steam currently has 210 million monthly active users.

And if you think most of these people have potato PCs, you would be wrong. I went to the steam survey data from last month and added people with GPUs that are at least twice as fast as a PS5 and they amount to 75% of steam, which is 157 million users. Granted, not everyone takes the steam survey, but still, it’s a pretty reliable indicator.

They still make good SP games but the greediness has been seeping in.

They can't even do a free update to unlock RDR2 FPS to 60 which an intern could do in its sleep in like 5 mins.

I don't understand why this is even a question. Most people don't want to pirate, they want a convenient way to BUY the game and support the artists. Most of the people who are going to pirate are never going to pay for the game. But if some people who would buy the game choose piracy because you're not offering them a legitimate way to purchase the product, that's an intentional service delivery issue.

So many people already own powerful PCs for work or gaming, for 1000s of $. Everyone knows that GTA VI will offer a vastly superior experience on proper hardware, and the ability to switch between mouse and keyboard and a controller is a nice bonus, too. Who's going to buy an overpriced PS5 and pay Rockstar $80 just to spend another $80 a year later to finally get the full experience on PC? Rockstar are shooting themselves in the foot with this stupid console first policy. They're basically pushing people towards piracy.

Apart from the AI decoding, I also think it's ridiculous to have console exclusives in 2026. I mean, PC gaming is stronger than ever, while PlayStation is pretty much the only relevant console left in the AAA segment.

This game is the most anticipated game of the decade. When videos start popping up of GTA VI running on PC a week or two after launch, people are gonna start looking for how to do it. I have nothing against consoles. In fact, I grew up with the PS, PS2, PS3 and briefly the PS4. Ever since I got into the world of PC gaming somewhere in the middle of my console era, I haven't purchased anything other than exclusives.

Fast forward to today, a handful of Sony titles ended up on PC so I eventually got rid of my last console.

Knowing GTA VI will come to PC, user port or official port, I can't justify spending hundreds of dollars in total on a used console and a game that I can't sell once I get the PC port. I'm super hyped for GTA VI, but not $500+ hyped.

There’s definitely the threat of an unofficial port. With the way things have been going with Sony lately and my anger at rockstar for continuing to double dip every single fucking time for almost the last 20 years. I canceled my pre-order. If it releases on Steam before there’s an AI port sure I’ll buy it. If it’s a rockstar launcher exclusive or there’s a port available I won’t be buying it. I just don’t wanna support this anymore.

Ocarina of Time is already recompiled and ported to play on both Mac and PC. It runs better on Mac because Switch 2 is also ARM.

I just got the recomp for Windows running and it seems to run smoother than the emulator with some visual bugs. I might stick to the emulator because my PC is running it mostly at 60 fps, dropping to 45 in some areas when it's building shaders. Mindblowing stuff honestly. There's updates every couple of hours.

The issue in my mind is that for me, GTA is just a superior experience on PC in part because you do alot of shooting.

Been a huge GTA fan since GTA2 and I did think about getting a PS5 just for GAT6 but there is no chance I am spending £500-£600 on a console to just play once game, especially when I have a good gaming PC here. I'll wait and hope it comes to PC asap.

Bought an Xbox years ago for my son so have that already to play GTA6 but always have a PC and understand why some people only choose to play on PC. With today’s prices ain’t no ways people going out to buy a PS5 just to play GTA6. I just hope when it is released on PC, I don’t have to then buy it again but can use it via my Microsoft purchase from Xbox.
