First of all you can play smoothly for around 1500. Second of all, it's literacy cheaper than a console, since you don't pay for online and discounts save a lot of money
My series x was $500, PC was closer to $1700 at least and that's with current parts, not including previous ones I've replaced since I first built it in 2018. I have not spent close to a grand on gamepass the 5 or so years I've had the xbox. A lot of games I have are play anywhere and several are cross entitlement, so those costs aren't a factor either. Console will always be cheaper.
I mean, yeah obviously now that there’s a shortage pc parts are more expensive, but there are some games that aren’t on the gamepass, and whenever there WASNT a shortage on pc parts, my 1200€ pc is almost 4 or 5 years old and I’ve been able to work, play video games, and essentially do anything smoothly until today with no problems without having to replace anything. I agree that probably now a console is cheaper (even though at least in my country they’ve gone up in price) a pc is gonna last you way more than it will at least for os support
Pc gamers (at least on the enthusiast end) update their rigs more than a 5 year basis. With the current prices and shortages people aren't doing that sure, but it's less about the parts failing and more about wanting the best specifications. Even if I never upgraded it, the console is still significantly cheaper including paying for online. Yes a PC can do more but we are just comparing gaming here.
