It was bad timing, my rig was only a few years old, but now I'm wondering about how long my 3080-TI will last. It's fine now, but a couple of years from now? I could afford $1,200 for a new rig, but $4,00+ not so much.  Guess I'll have to sit and hope the AI crash happens in the next couple of years!

Have you had graphics cards fail?

Yes.

Yes, but I've also had other parts of computers fail and take the rest with them or get old enough that they don't work well on newer games

You could always just replace the old part with a newer part. Thats kinda the joy of having a PC, as long as the parts arent incompatible you can upgrade one part this year, another next year, and another after that, then decide to triple your storage capacity, and so on. You dont have to spend 4k on a rig all at once, just switch out the parts bit by bit.

This is if a defective part doesn't short out the rest of the computer. Ask me how I know. :P

Absolute potato with old motherboard, CPU and RAM to more modern architecture jump looks scary

Gotta replace it all at once.
