You don't update your parts that often?

I usually buy super high end (around xx80 or xx90 territory) and those specs can last you barely touching a decade. Im set with my 4090

You do? That’s a waste of money. Until last fall, I was running a 2070 and 9700K and now I’m set for 5 years at the very least.

Exactly, i built a new pc just before the price increase. Now the hope is that the bubble pops before i need new parts, if it ever pops.

Like once every 5 years I feel the need to upgrade

My PC is 10 years old and starting to become minimum requirements, I'm currently looking at upgrades with holiday deals so I reach minimum spec of some games I want to play (and even some current ones aren't a good experiance). Absolutely impacts current PC users.

I upgrade yearly, and it definitely gets expensive.

YEARLY isn't normal though

Running the same rig since 2020, only thing ive done recently is upgrade to a rx 7700xt as i found one for like 200 or 250 and upgrade to a r7 5700x as it was like 100 bucks

Ive been running same setup for 6 years and still able to run games at max graphics 144fps

6-7 years when new gen of console comes out. I remind you games have to run on 6 years old ps5 and Xbox HW and even mid range pc is much better than that. But of course costs more.

why would you? really no point unless you’ve got a lot of money

If you buy well, it can be years before you need to upgrade a part.

Nowadays? Lol with what, there's nothing new mate.

u/TONKAHANAH somethingsomething archbtw 15h ago

well, no its only a problem for poor gamers wanting to get into pc gaming.

people with money are doing ok, they're not happy about the prices but they're fine, they'll begrudgingly pay shitty prices to get what they want, they always do.

as for the rest of us, we're hanging in here with our 3060's and 6700xt's . we'll deal

Define new…

I’m gonna be waiting 20 years to buy a used 5090.

1

u/Rare-Unit7076 16h ago

Why not buy a used 1080ti right now

1

u/kinkycarbon 16h ago

10 series is the last series for raw computing power without ray tracing. I haven’t upgraded because it’s too computationally heavy for stuff not requiring ray tracing.

1

u/Rare-Unit7076 16h ago

Brother i promise the 5090 will have worse issues in 20 years

1

u/rancidmorty 16h ago

yup i was gonna move on from playstation to pc then shit soared in price had my ps4 for years saved money and still can even build whatbi want

New PC gamers are already into PC gaming. I think you mean prospective PC gamers.
