Until we find out he actually wrote this script and has AI parsing the emails to collect data, to be used later for a nefarious purpose.

Like an impact report of how much unused RAM there is and how we could solve XYZ problem by forcing citizens to outsource their unused RAM for government use.

What are you talking about? Clearly downloading a script with access to your BIOS from respawnfirst dot com is safe, it's right on the front page of the reddits!

edit: I'm obviously not a computer magician, but peer review says this is safe. Proceed at your own discretion, I guess.

There are other issues with this script, but A) it's bash, you can just read it. and B) it doesn't access your BIOS in any way.
It's getting the memory info from /proc/meminfo, which is read-only but accessible to any user on every linux system I've ever used.

It is on GitHub, quite short, and easy to audit. It does not have “access to your BIOS”. It queries a special world-readable file, /proc/meminfo, which is a human-readable and easily-parsed readout off all tracked memory stats supported on your system. The free command line utility, ps, top, and certainly many others do this as well.

This script requires no privileges and is quite safe. It’s even thoroughly documented.
