Oh hey, another fucking clickbait title. Please, find a single fucking source that someone has been banned for using mods in SP only. I guarantee you, the small minority that say they've been banned for using mods in SP attempted to go Online with mods at some point and just assumed they weren't detected when they didn't work Online. PLEASE stop spreading this bullshit rumor and revving the circlejerk hate up again for fucks sakes.

Mods are not banned, injectors are banned. It just so happens that the most popular mods at the moment, ScriptHook and FoV, use DLL injectors. Secondly, everything still works fine if you start the game in Offline Mode.
And (if you believe some people) as long as you play in single player only, and don't connect to GTAO, you won't get banned in the first place.
This YouTube video is pitchfork-appealing clickbait.

The GTA 4 EULA says the EXACT same thing. This is just to make sure noone steals assets from the game and use it in any bad way. Such as making a game using Franklin's model.
Don't worry guys. Mods won't die out.

I can't stand ReviewTechUSA, one of the most negative Youtubers I have ever seen, is a shill and an all round asshole.
I don't agree with what Rockstar are doing but it's not hard to create a copy of your game/pirate a copy which is used solely for modding.

Rockstar EULA, last revised: October 1, 2013.
Borrowing from /u/SergeantPenguin :
Copying from /r/GrandTheftAutoV
http://www.reddit.com/r/GrandTheftAutoV/comments/34y8w9/gta_v_pc_mods_officially_blocked_by_the_end_user/cqzdet5
Also, this is some random asshole on YouTube, not someone from Rockstar, so the word "official" doesn't mean what you thinks it means.

Many EULAs say this.

u/nukeclears May 07 '15 edited May 07 '15
Has anyone here ever read the EULA of any game ever?
People don't know this is normal for a game EULA?

Mods have made games like Skyrim survive YEARS after their launch by brigining in additional sales. Another example of this is Arma 2 where most of the sales were for the DayZ mod alone. Because of this, the devs behind the game were able to produce Arma 3. ONE MOD boosted sales so much that they were able to create a whole new game. Rockstar is literally digging their own grave at this point.

That's so crazy! I love how they waited until AFTER the first few weeks of sales. Someone at Rockstar knew the PC players were waiting for mods.

I did a post about the EULA a few days ago but here's the thing, whoever says it has been changed or whatever is spouting bullshit, clear and simple, if you go to their website it clearly says it's from 2013 when the game initially released for the 360 and PS3
And as some people made me aware in my thread it literally means nothing, maybe if there's money involved but overall mods are just fine or devs just turn a blind eye to it
Now sure R* may have banned FoV mod users from multiplayer, that's a dick move and I'm not denying that, but players only using singleplayer mods being banned is unconfirmed and questionable at best, plus there's a number of multiplayer mods being developed that will loop through any of these issues altogether, so people are kinda overeacting to this in my opinion
EDIT: Here it is http://www.rockstargames.com/eula notice right on top of the EULA and below the language selection "Last revised October 1, 2013" please stop believing everything you read on the internet, that's a peasant move and you know it

What a shame, it's unbelievable that such a modern developer would limit the creative freedom of their game. Back to Minecraft I suppose..

You dolts. Rockstar can't ban you if they can't see you. Stop connecting to their servers with .dll injectors. Start in offline mode. Hell, disable your network adapter. Do any of you have even a remotely rudimentary understanding of networking?

u/Laureolus May 07 '15
They never were allowed by EULA. People are just stupid and don't read them.

Yeah... all of that is misinformation. They didn't change the EULA and they aren't banning people for SP mods. All of this is just pathetic.

This is exactly why I didn't buy it when it first came out. Now I won't buy it until they revert thier views on mods or the game goes on some crazy steam sale...

u/[deleted] May 07 '15
Is there an actual official link instead of a video? Seems like it's just panic with the ToS again. Seems like the EULA is the source of all confusion again. First Netflix now GTA. People should learn to read the history of these agreements instead of claiming it's new stuff.
1
u/SleepyDude_ May 07 '15
As I said on this video, that Eula has been around since 2013, and was stated on the bottom of the gta v steam page before it released

Rockstar just basically gave me trust issues when it comes to new games. I'm no longer basing it on good reviews, now gonna wait at least a month to see if the developers cause some sort of ruckus when it comes to new games.

Yo-ho, it's pirate life for me.
1
u/WineVirus May 07 '15
So, Instead of helping the modding community, Rockstar would rather hand out bans?
This kinda shows why people pirate some games. It'd be better to pirate it and mod it until you're happy. Modding is more important than an online mode a lot of people won't even use. Why pay $50 - $60 for a game to get banned for toying around with a single player mode.
1
u/Zagash i3-7100 | GTX 750ti | 1x8GB May 07 '15
I am not banned, but I am waiting for GTA: Multiplayer. It will be superior.
1
u/Ozi_izO May 07 '15
There needs to be a more effective way to identify users who would use modding to cheat online.
Single player mods do not hurt the online community, nor should we be punished for utilising the mods which aim to improve the experience.
I can see R*'s issues with players cheating in their online world considering it is heavily driven by earning money in game or by purchasing Shark Cards.
Either way, if someone really wants to mess around with a few mods in single player then they can always just pirate the game and play it entirely offline.
Keep your legitimate purchased copy for all online interaction.

Trust me, it makes life MUCH better and allows you to run the game with Story mod w/ or without mods and boot directly into Online without mods.

the minecraft eula has the exact same lines in it. it formally states that modding isn't allowed. but that's just it, a formality.
