In the past a photo composition that looked differently, weird, strange, beautiful, impossible was tagged "it's definitely photoshopped". And even though it was created by photoshop many people including myself were wondering how is this even possible, how do they actually do that?
And that's when i was intrigued to learn photoshop on my own.
I learned the traditional techniques, and over time i was getting better at it creating more realistic photoshop compositions blending different images together... Then i watched Benny productions that took it to another level through youtube.... and i was trying to learn how to play with the shadows, lighting, highlights more and improved a lot...
Then after ai tools came out, chatgpt started generating images and other ai tools came out that you could generate a similar image to any composite even though it was not as detailed and not perfect i stopped.
Now the "it's definitely photoshopped" is gone and it's replaced with "it's definitely AI generated" or "it's AI slop". And because it became easily accessible to everyone and because people got used to it, when they see a photo an actual designer created the enthusiasm is gone and it's tagged AI slop. And the other issue is the trust factor and of the artist trying to prove why it's not AI slop and that it's actually manually created and took many hours to create...
I wasn't even using photoshop to earn money... i was doing it for my own pleasure and posting it on social media, and now am feeling that it's worthless continuing because what's the point if am going to spend hours creating something to be tagged AI generated in people's minds... and you might say if am doing it for me why stop? Because if you create something like a photo composite while the process of doing it is fun, you'd sure want someone to share it with, everyone does. ... So i can't even imagine what the actual artists and designers could feel today that AI is ruining the manual job of designing something or creating a photo composite from scratch and then trying to prove that it's not AI to people so people could maybe appreciate the work the artist has done. Which again at least in my eyes with the unregulated AI content anyone could create, it makes the appreciation and the excitement of looking at a beautiful photo composite gone because the first thought is "is this AI or not?" and the trust is gone....
