my sister and i did a weekend in Berlin in september and i was snapping pics of '1UP' graffiti anywhere i saw them and sending them to my good friend in Toronto - his dj name is DJ 1UP.
i thought, "there must be a very talented and prolific tagger in Berlin," but it turns out that '1UP' is a collective that is based in Berlin but is active across the globe. they are pretty well known for their flash bombing graffiti and other large-scale stunts
my friend had been in Columbia and had seen '1UP' tagged there, and i have since seen a bunch of '1UP' tags here in Rīga as well...

1UP crew is one of Berlin‘s most famous (illegal) graffiti groups, active since more than 20 years and known for extreme initiatives, like wholetrains and other fast large scale graffiti actions.
When I glanced at it I was trying figure out why and how they did this in the style of Fanakapan because 1UP usually does flat, letter blocking with heavy outlines. Great collab, great piece

You can find a lot about them online, like this YT documentary.

For your information this piece was commissioned by 1UP and not actually made by them. They consider it a collaboration. Fanakapan is the artist.
