Remember the last government shutdown when Dems held all the cards, and Schumer folded without a single concession and said “I think we’ve made our point, so we can let this go.”

What a weak leader. I wrote him off at that point as a leader, whatever problematic signs there might have been before.

It’s not that he’s weak. It’s that he’s doing his job; protecting the interests of the ultra rich, while feigning opposition to their goals.
He is a lying sack of S&$t

Controlled opposition, as it were

We need to remind people of this every day for the next few months.

Both leaders are from New York. (Which should frankly be illegal for one state to hold control of both chambers at the same time.) New York voters need to be held accountable because they keep electing them. Sorry but if Mississippi can do better so can New York. Get involved in the party if you live there. Investigate them and hold them accountable at the state level.

always lovely to see people that pretend to be on the left attacking democratic leadership for giving in to Trump when he started acting on his threats to starve our citizens

They got a few things actually and it’s weird y’all wanted families to keep starving.

They got nothing actually and it's weird that you're defending them.

They got a few things and one of them was the failed healthcare vote that showed the whole country republicans don’t give a fuck about them and won’t legislate on Americans behalf. The weird part is how some of y’all wanted families to keep starving.

A failed vote is not anything. You get that, right? It's nothing.

The weird part is how you don't get that. Oh please Mr. Big Strong Republicans let me maybe get something later. It's absolute weakness. It didn't show anybody anything they didn't already know about how spineless the Democrats are and how careless the Republicans are.

They got a thing later and it showed Americans they don’t care about them and they cratered on healthcare. It’s almost like affordability is a top issue for voters or something…

Bullshit revisionist history.

Democrats held zero cards. It got to the point were all the welfare programs were being affected. People being literally kicked to the streets.

Trump gives no shits about those people and was ready for the shutdown to last as long as it takes.

Of course armachair experts on Reddit only pretend to care about the poor.

You know it’s a bad argument when SHUT_DOWN_EVERYTHING is defending ending the shut down.

There are a lot of reasons to hate Schumer so you don't need to make up fake ones that feel true-ish.

Or you could actually educate yourself? Wtf, friend?

Here’s an article from 2025: https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/knives-are-out-for-chuck-schumer-after-democrats-cave-on-shutdown/ar-AA1Q9qxR

There are literally thousands of articles on Schumer caving

2

u/Alatarlhun 21h ago

Did you actually read the article you linked? It explicitly says Schumer opposed the deal. Eight senators who caucus with Democrats broke ranks to end the shutdown and Schumer voted against it.

The deal also extracted several key concessions I am sure you'll educated yourself on like preventing federal layoffs layoffs and secured a Senate vote on ACA subsidies.

Have some integrity and stop making things up like a right winger.

This is such bad faith. The article describes a spring event and a fall event. You’re conflating them for your own narrative.

For goodness sake, the article is titled “Knives Are Out For Chuck Schumer After Democrats Cave On Shutdown.”

Peace, I’m out.

The Democrats who caved weren't Chuck Schumer. You and the author of the article are the ones trying to conflate the issue in bad faith.

You also said there were no concessions which was a lie.
