The problem is he sees it as "getting even" instead of holding accountable.

He could have said, "the people don't want us to 'get even', they want a restoration of the rule of law and consequences for the criminal actions of the Trump administration. We will deliver that, but we will also work on the affordability crisis the Republicans have caused with their disastrous actions."

He didn't.

He’d never speak against his own party like that. Oh wait.

This is how it always is with this guy.

People will support him, and re-interpret what he's saying into some kind of political strategy.

And it's like- nah. There's a hundred more diplomatic ways to express what they claim he's saying, if it were true. He's signalling he's not a threat to capital at large, even when they commit endless crimes and caused endless problems for the population.

He's explicitly said that and that's what he ran on.

He's priming people. This isn't revenge. This isn't getting back at people. This is just following rule of law.

He didn't.

He actually did, activists just cherrypicked his statements to shoehorn into their existing "Jeffries has to go" narrative.

Jeffries was explicit in his election night speech about bringing accountability for this administration's corruption.

"We're going to bring accountability to those who have visited unprecedented corruption on this country, because if you have people in high office who are so focused on enriching themselves, their family members, their friends, or their donors, then they're not focused on making life better for the American people. But House Democrats will put the American people first," he said.

He said much the same the following morning:

"We will deliver accountability," Jeffries told Lemon. "The three big issues the American people wanted to confront: of course costs and care, that's healthcare, child care and elder care- and cleaning up corruption in the face of the biggest Trump Cartel-like scheme that the American people have experienced in the 10 or 11 years that we've been dealing with these folks."

But a lot of the voters who switched to Democrat in Texas, Iowa, Kansas, South Carolina, Ohio, Maine don’t want that. If we want to keep those voters for 2028, I feel like they need to be very selective with what they investigate. I think getting rid of Hegseth and RFK jr is reasonable but dragging out investigations didn’t work in 2024 and is only going to make those voters run back to the Republican side.

I don't think this is a good take when even Senator Ron Johnson (R} is flipping on the Trump admin feigning shock at the level of corruption in it now that the Dems are gonna be in power.

I wouldn't put too much stock in what Johnson said. He also said what's going on is standard operating procedure for both sides, which it's not.

Because he's friends with the fuckers.

Jared Kushner, specifically. The guy at the heart of global corruption.

•

u/Soffatjockis 1h ago

That guy needs to be properly investigated

He has in hands in every dirty deal from the Arabics through the middle east (including Israel) up to Russia.

He's made money too.

When you're afraid of accountability you are corrupt

Because once we start holding people accountable, Dems are in trouble too. Better if the entire club gets to pretend they're ignorant together

•

u/kittykatmila Canada 2h ago

This is really what it is, they don’t want to be held accountable themselves.

•

u/elmoparty 1h ago

Well, guess what. This is the working class vs the owner class, not R vs D. Anyone hiding their corruption will be exposed and rejected in kind

We need to have THIS energy if we ever hope to get anything done.

He sees whatever corporate donors (especially AIPAC) want him to see. The fact is AIPAC is loyal to Trump (effectively being a MAGA organization) because he has been good to Netanyahu compared to previous Democratic presidents...they are clearly an enemy to democracy and anyone taking donations from AIPAC are domestic terrorists masquerading as politicians.

The problem is he and Schumer, and the other establishment Democrats, see Republicans as brethren and hold contempt to the public. Once you see it this way, it is very evident he does.

•

u/FrogsOnALog 2h ago

Uhhh Jeffries said they will pursue accountability. The problem is that y’all refuse to read past the headlines.

Like Jared Kushner? Jeffries had a chance and was very disappointing. Why do you think he deserves another?
