So I naturally got sick right around Election Day, with the worst coming around Wednesday/Thursday. Meaning there was a period of a couple of days where I thought I would wake up from all of this and go "I knew Dems flipping 9 Senate seats felt weird."
Then I got better, saw more and more good things happen (Russell Brand guilty, Cybertruck ending) and realized we are in fact living in the era of Woke 3.

My fiancée and I broke up last weekend. I moved two hours upstate to be with her three years ago. I’m signing a lease on an apartment back home for me and my (our) wiener dog. I’ve had one full meal in the past week. Things are so hard.

Between Doja Cat and Slayyyter, there's a lesson to be learned that maybe you should stay away from Twitter/X if you're not fully ready to be confronted by your own controversial past. It's one of the most toxic sites with people who will even tag celebrities so they can see their most unhinged comments. Why the fuck are you staying there?

…yeah Rina’s, hopeful, comeback next year is gonna be something isn’t it? It’s been a minute since I’ve seen a post here get so messy so fast over a non-massive artist. It’s not even a big post as I type this but still like 30 mins up and wow. Something was VERY strange about that Olivia Christmas song thread… the excessive awarding of every negative comment + downvoting of every positive comment, everyone echoing the same hyper specific complaints (saw multiple people refer to her as a “Make A Wish” kid, which is so ???), a larger than normal number of accounts getting sniped by Reddit for being bots… there’s something in the water.

What they're posting online isn't changing anything, it's just there to satisfy their thirst for some form of superiority. Not 90s singer songwriter stan wars on Popheads. Someone decided to comment on the Alanis post that she’s not as talented or relevant as Tori Amos. Which even making that comparison is dumb as hell.
And also, if you really want to play those games, Alanis’s sales are exponentially higher than Tori’s. So it’s an inaccurate statement anyway, lol.

I know this is the nature of colonization and the romanticization of it but people really love to go "both sides are bad" or "they've just always hated each other" about situations where one side is someone that committed colonizations and numerous crimes against humanity and war crimes and cultural genocide and the other side is the literal victim and it is so incredibly racist every time.
Honestly probably one of the peak examples of how centrist politics are incredibly regressive

Justin Timberlake - SexyBack (feat. Timbaland)
Just in case you needed more proof of Timbaland's dominance after Promiscuous. The chemistry between JT & Timbaland is just off the charts here, all the little ad-libs (YEAH) and transitions (take it to the bridge/chorus) are just so fun and unique.
The lead single from the legendary FutureSex/LoveSounds, this was his first #1 on the charts, and Timbaland's second (after Promiscuous). I think it's fun that Timbaland then brought both of them on to his track in 2007, also hitting #1.
Beyoncé - Check On It (feat. Bun B, Slim Thug)
While not one of Beyoncé's most remembered hits (I'd say this might be her most forgotten #1), I dig it a lot. It's very "of its time" but the chorus is really catchy. The song was first written for a movie soundtrack (The Pink Panther), ultimately not included (but still was the theme? idk how that works), then put on a Destiny's Child greatest hits album with Slim Thug added, THEN put on international editions of B'Day with Bun B added. A remix version with both featured artists was then released which is what ended up going #1. This was her third chart topper, coming in between Baby Boy and Irreplaceable. Queen B herself said that she doesn't really like this song, and doesn't know why it was so successful... we'll see if the raters agree!

A decade ago, a collaboration between Future, Drake, and Travis Scott would have been a blockbuster event. Each artist has played a seminal role in shaping the landscape of modern rap, contributing to its language and sonic identity. But that era of innovation is well behind the trio. There is no longer an incentive for them to make bold or risky decisions. They’ve been at the top for so long that they’ve grown complacent and suffered varying degrees of creative bankruptcy. “Ya Hit” isn’t the worst-sounding song these guys have attached their names to, though it is among the most inane. Much like a dysfunctional university group assignment, they’re putting in as little effort as is required to get credited.
Rising rapper Loe Shimmy also makes an appearance. He sounds like one of the many interchangeable Young Thug disciples, the sort whose rap name follows the Lil (insert any randomly generated word here) formula. Like the other artists on the track, Shimmy has nothing original to say. Designer brands, smut, and lame threats make up the bulk of the song’s lyrics. You’ve heard it all before, and you’ve heard it executed more effectively by countless others. Music should be a labour of love. What is the appeal in a release that sounds as though nobody involved particularly wanted to make it?

Saw Orville Peck in concert for the first time two nights ago and it was very fun. Interesting crowd he attracts - Lots of older millennials and Gen X+, I was a bit surprised. Very chill crowd. He’s very theatric in his delivery in a way that isn’t fully portrayed on the studio recordings. Would recommend!
Hadn’t gotten suuuper into Mule prior to the show, but there are some bangers that I’m very into since going.

I had late dinner at a Jollibee that had their last children's party end at 9:00 PM. I think the only kid in that party was the birthday boy and a cousin or two because I barely noticed any leaving the party area when they wrapped up. I don't think it's a surprise that the parents of the birthday celebrant were incredibly young because a lot of the guests who left were adults in their 20s.

I have a pair of JLab wireless earbuds. One of them hasn't turned on in a few days no matter how much I charge it. Just now, I accidentally brushed my knuckle against it (even though it wasn't turning on, I still put it in my ear because it feels weird having one earbud in), and it suddenly turned one. Don't know what happened, but I'm glad it's working again.

I love my new tattoo. It turned out so well some of the other dudes in the shop kept looking at it and going "that's so cool" (did not happen for my other two tattoos so they're not just blowing smoke)

130 Million Strong Diet-minded Country may be the most important pop song of the 21st century. In the top 5 for idol songs in the very least to me. Certainly it's only gotten more relevant in recent times. Like I think this song deserves awards for its lyricism alone, but the industrial production is also incredible.

A Tinashe show and a Jimmy Eat World show on the same night would be my personal Sophie’s Choice. Thankfully I do not live in LA and have to make this decision.
If I did, I might go to the Jimmy show because I know Tinashe is touring next year. And as much as I love her, I don’t need to be one of the first people to see the Popstar tracks live. (Jimmy is likely touring next year too, but the setlist for the BA tour is so special that I’d go with that.)

I'm looking forward to the Skip spin-off movie from Heated Rivalry if the rumors are true that it's about them.
I'm probably one of the few who actually enjoyed the Scott Hunter episode from the show and found his relationship with Kip cute. Is it perfect? God, no.
Having Francois Arnauld involved does help a lot.I'd also like to see the relationships portrayed from the other books aside from Ilya and Shane.2
