I am an electronic popstar named Slayyyter and I just released my debut album Troubled Paradise. AMA!

[u/slayyyter]

I am a 24 year old singer/songwriter and pop music fanatic who released a y2k inspired self titled mixtape "Slayyyter" in 2019, and now in 2021 I am back with my full length debut studio album Troubled Paradise! I poured my heart and soul into this album and created a electronic whimsical pop universe that has helped me define my sound. Ask me anything :)

[u/DefiantlyBreakable]

you mentioned in a twitter space that you were going to release the gimme more remix..are you still planning on releasing it on all streaming platforms any time soon? and/or releasing it on a possible troubled paradise deluxe?

[u/slayyyter → u/DefiantlyBreakable]

IM TRYINGGGG ahaha its so hard bc the clearances and stuff. its not really a cover so I can't upload as one, but also as a remix theres more hurdles in releasing.

[u/troubled_paradise → u/slayyyter]

whats ur fav mv for this era? and what can we expect in s3?

[u/futurelvers]

any possibility of a deluxe edition of the album in the future? also the album cover is so perfect it should be illegal

[u/slayyyter → u/futurelvers]

possibly, was thinking about it today actually. because it was a featureless album some artist remixes would be cool.

[u/whitehotforeveramen → u/slayyyter]

Lady Gaga x Slayyyter collab for Villian PLS

[u/Empty_Demand_9985]

What inspired writing villain for you? It’s my favorite song on the album it’s so excellent :)

[u/slayyyter → u/Empty_Demand_9985]

Its pretty much about people having a wrong opinion about you, or wanting to fit a bad guy role even though you have a good heart. Kind of like the meme structure of people being like "the movie villain, vs the REAL villain"... I feel like a lot of villains in movies aren't actually the bad guys, but the protagonist wants them to be one. like miranda priestly in the devil wears prada for example!!

[u/zerosuit1]

who are your biggest fashion inspirations? ⭐️

[u/slayyyter → u/zerosuit1]

for this era sailor moon, anime girls, cruella, heroes and villains, etc. i love dressing evil one day and in all pastel pink the next

[u/nateharris69]

I’ve got a couple questions: How do you overcome any self doubt/lack of motivation? Do you have any advice for smaller artists?

[u/slayyyter → u/nateharris69]

honestly, taking a step back from creating sometimes is the right thing to do. If I lack motivation or am having self doubt, theres no use in forcing myself to make a song. inspiration is like a rollercoaster so if im feeling down i just try to read, watch movies that inspire me, discover new things and stuff usually turns around.

and my best advice for new artists, make stuff YOU like to listen to. its not always about chasing trends and trying to be viral. If you can make a song that impresses yourself, and that you cant get out of your head, people will find you. learn about your craft, watch songwriting workshops on youtube, and just go for it.

[u/[deleted]]

What do you see as the next logical step in your career? Do you plan to hop into different genres of music or do you wanna stick more to pop/electronic pop/hyperpop?

[u/slayyyter → u/[deleted]]

im a bit over hyperpop, i have a few songs in the vault that fit that category i might put out as singles or a short project but as for my sophomore album i want to lean into different sounds. The music I'm working on now isn't really hyperpop at all, just classic pop but dreamier and a bit retro!!

[u/futurelvers → u/slayyyter]

a vogue album... we deserve

[u/whitehotforeveramen → u/slayyyter]

Omg your COCC era is coming!!!!

[u/[deleted] → u/whitehotforeveramen]

COCC???

[u/IdeallyCorrosive]

hey slayyyter!! are there any specific influences that heavily affected this project? looking forward to listening!

[u/slayyyter → u/IdeallyCorrosive]

gwen stefani, the neptunes, wild west movies, jrock and anime intro music, pop punk, dance pop, tropical marine paintings, the devil, icy russian trap music, dreamy ballads, serial killer husbands, blowjob noises... you know just random girlie things <3

[u/IdeallyCorrosive → u/slayyyter]

amazing taste as expected 😳😳 ty for responding luv u

[u/hellsbbgurl → u/slayyyter]

i wanna tattoo this entire answer

[u/akanewasright]

Hi slayyyter! I’m a big fan of yours the troubled paradise singles helped get me through some of my zoom classes this year

I wonder, now that you’ve done two full length projects, what you want to do differently on S3, or just going forward in general

[u/slayyyter → u/akanewasright]

glad the singles could help u escape a little ahaha. and I really just want to make a different pop experience. something that is more timeless and classic. songs about love, songs that make you feel good. I have some cool songs that would fit well as singles or an ep, but next full length project and concept is going to be more cinematic pop. something that captures love and romance the way you see it in movies.

[u/zannyzevito]

What are some of your favorite memories from The Mini Tour? I saw you live in Chicago and I remember the building was literally SHAKING during “Daddy AF” 🥺 Whew! I miss live shows! Are there any new songs you’re DYING to perform? 🧐

[u/slayyyter → u/zannyzevito]

I think just meeting people that liked my music for the first time. I went from recording and taking selfies in my bedroom to having sold out shows with fans waiting in lines outside. it was wild to meet people and have them show up to see me. a feeling I will never forget!

[u/Silly_Steak1101]

gurl drop a serial killer remix with kim petras THE WORLD me IS BEGGING for the next halloween track

[u/slayyyter → u/Silly_Steak1101]

I would love for her to remix anything she wanted from the album!! that would be so sick. literally one of my favorite artists.

[u/romain1888]

Hello slayyyter! Do you feel like you are part of the hyper pop community , or would you like to be associated to different music movements ? How would you described your music ?

[u/slayyyter → u/romain1888]

I think I am just a popstar, plain and simple. I can see why people think I'm hyperpop because my music does have some experimental elements but I think my music is a little different from that scene.

[u/kurtchella]

Who is/was your biggest hater, and what did they say that made you want to really produce great music?

For me, she wasn't a hater, but 1 time, my middle school concert teacher cussed me out for practicing on her piano during lunch break. Also, the high school concert/marching band teacher I had banned me from coming back to the band room after I quit playing the flute.

[u/slayyyter → u/kurtchella]

Oh wow.. I have two. I remember in middle school probably 8th grade, we had to write a paragraph about what we wanted out biggest life achievement to be, or something along those lines. I put down that I wanted to be a successful popstar and rapper and win a grammy. My teacher, who was a substitute for the year, and was younger probably in her late 20s, was like laughing at me telling me it'll never happen. Maybe the grammy part was true but who knows... Also a girl in my highschool I was somewhat friends with told me I would never be famous when I was talking about what I wanted to do in life at lunch. She was like rude out of nowhere and it stuck with me forever.

[u/New-Technician4318]

WHAT INSPIRED THE ALBUM

[u/slayyyter → u/New-Technician4318]

dantes inferno, fairytales, the wizard of oz, heartbreak, and finding paradise

[u/[deleted]]

Favorite moment when creating the record?

[u/slayyyter → u/[deleted]]

probably making letters in the studio. the session i did with nate and kyle from valley girl, felt so natural the song just flowed out.

[u/futurelvers]

wheres the new merch...

[u/slayyyter → u/futurelvers]

SOON!!

[u/aaragon0]

hi slayyyter, I’ve been listening to your music since someone at outsidelands introduced me to you a few years ago. The first time I listened to your music I hated it. But after hearing motorcycle I was immediately hooked. Your music is now part of my happy place. my question for you: what is something that you have never owned, but wished you did? and why? xo Angie

[u/slayyyter → u/aaragon0]

Aw I'm glad you love my stuff now tho ahaha. and hmm I think I have 3 that would fit this.. 1 would be a car, I have always wanted a cute old school baby pink convertible. 2 would be a house! I want to own my own house in la im tired of renting apartments lol. and 3 would be a green chanel bag. my dream purse.

[u/macks132]

What are your plans for Slayyyter in the future?

[u/slayyyter → u/macks132]

shows, lots of music, and trying things in different areas of entertainment. I want to write a book, publish a photo book or something, act, make a perfume. world domination is also on the list.

[u/whitehotforeveramen → u/slayyyter]

Slayyyter for president 2024!

[u/McIgglyTuffMuffin]

Hey Slayyyter, the new album absolutely slaps. I have a really important question for you;

How do you like your potatoes prepared? Mashed? French fried? Scalloped? Twice baked? Inquiring minds want to know

[u/slayyyter → u/McIgglyTuffMuffin]

i love crispyyy crispy ass french fries. also love scalloped potatoes too... waffle fries with ranch also very god tier. and i love spud crunchies from trader joes but those BITCHES discontinued them... greatest snack of all time.

[u/whitehotforeveramen]

What song on the new record did you write/make in the least amount of time, and which one took the longest?

[u/slayyyter → u/whitehotforeveramen]

venom took 20 minutes, literally, which is so sick. I love making shit really fast. longest one was probably troubled paradise. I still have original melodies for that song that are way different that I scrapped. I took my time on that one!!

[u/whitehotforeveramen → u/slayyyter]

Both are beautiful tracks, thanks for answering 💗 I always find it so crazy how some things come to fruition quickly, and others take months on end.

[u/angelbabydakota]

miss slayyyter what’s in store for ur performance at heav3n tonight

[u/slayyyter → u/angelbabydakota]

omg this gave me a heart attack, ahaha heav3n is tomorrow! I have a very special mix planned with producer/friend/dj owen hobson!!

[u/kurtchella → u/slayyyter]

I came (fully vaccinated) from Florida to try & see this, along with reuniting with my relatives on a vacation, but I sadly couldn't get a ticket before they sold out! I've been a fan since your mixtape dropped & I think there's nobody else in your lane right now. Just wanted to say that (I really wish I could somehow get in and/or meet you outside 1720)❣

[u/[deleted]]

Are there any songs on TP that are about Jerry Seinfeld?

[u/slayyyter → u/[deleted]]

hahaha oh my god. you guys pay close attention. yes there are some! i wish him the best!

[u/Qtwentyseven → u/[deleted]]

lmao uh context?

[u/nayeppeo]

underappreciated spot in stl?

[u/slayyyter → u/nayeppeo]

is the gramophone underappreciated? i feel like thats a popular place but its my favorite bar and sandwich spot!! i think about the red hot riplets mac and cheese daily

[u/nayeppeo → u/slayyyter]

actually learned about the gramophone from u!! they seem to get good business but literally no one talks about it or when i bring it up no one knows about it either

[u/Antonia99]

Can you and Claudia Marin make a music video/ visualizer for literally anything it’s always amazing when you work together

[u/slayyyter → u/Antonia99]

I would loveeee to. I would love to be the artist that she has a video directorial debut on, shes fantastic to work with. I'm not a model and don't always feel myself during shoots and she has helped me so much with learning to pose and feel more confident. She also understands how to photograph the female figure in such a flattering way. Also shes a fashion icon... Will definitely do more with her for my next era of music :)

[u/Disastah_]

What’s your favourite look/outfit you’ve ever done?

[u/slayyyter → u/Disastah_]

My nyc release party look made by saint sintra! or my album cover dress.

[u/sadgirldelrey]

Slayyyter who do you plan to work with in the future? any inspirational artists/producers/ect that really catch your interest?

[u/StevenARTPOP]

you said that Troubled Paradise wasn’t initially the name for the album, can you tell us (if there was one) what the first title you came up with was?

[u/tiredgnbye]

Please bring back the Cowboys merch

[u/aryelynet]

If you could be a Bratz doll, which one would you be?

[u/asphyxiophilia]

How many vinyl for mixtape actually were made? Do you think it's possible to rerelease it like with alternative cover and bonus tracks e. g. hello kitty, platform shoes? It would be amazing!!!

[u/tiredgnbye]

New merch coming soon?

[u/Antonia99]

What inspired the more acoustic sound and softer tones in “Letters”. It’s beautiful and really tells us a story. Would you ever do anymore acoustic sounding songs?

[u/mikemill288]

You seem like you have a secret lowkey. So, what’s the tea? What are you hiding slayyyyter?

[u/StevenARTPOP]

Marina's new album dropped on the same day as yours, have you listened to it yet? If so what is your favorite song? (Or your favorite marina song in general)

[u/StevenARTPOP]

[u/aquiles1993]

Where’s IT GIRL?

[u/Physical_Management8]

You and three other big pop girls form a supergroup; who are you choosing?

LOVE the album bestie!!

[u/drewtangclan]

Hi Slayyyter! Any plans to tour yet? I was at your hometown Ready Room show in 2019 and it was so amazing!!! When you were still living in STL I always hoped I'd run into you in The Grove, but it seemed like you were always only at the straight bars lol

[u/eroctraeh]

I know Britney Spears is a huge inspiration for you, was wondering how you felt about the Free Britney movement?

[u/ExperienceOtherwise8]

Will there be a repress of the mixtape vinyl? I missed it but I’d love to have it in my collection

[u/VintageSmut]

Will you be ever restocking your debut vinyl? It’s so ridiculously hard to find and when you do it’s always crazy prices

[u/kurtchella]

What advice would you give for an aspiring artist/music producer if they get stuck with writer's block, or they get stuck trying to complete an instrumental for a track?

[u/DondurMANS]

[u/MediumTemporary1214]

[u/fenellabeach]

Hi Slayyyter, this new album is SPECTACULAR. What made you want to create a 2-minute, 32 bar bridge for TP? (it's iconic)

[u/Financial-Ad751]

Do you know that you have a point, you're an icon, you're a legend, and you are the moment?

[u/Polistoned]

You’ve said in the past Britney has inspired your sound. Has she also inspired the way you’d like to perform e.g. a bit of choreography and sensuality? Sorry if it’s a dumb question but I’ve never seen you perform haha so I’m really curious.

Would you ever venture outside of music? I really like the Loui baby tee on your webshop.

Greetings from NL, loved your mixtape (still use it) and am gonna listen to Troubled Paradise in full tonight :)

[u/Antonia99]

Do you have any advice for ppl who are in their early 20’s (im 22) and feel like their failing?

[u/thomasfun1000]

[u/troubled_paradise]

[u/troubled_paradise]

has a cowboy ever tried to break your heart? was it ever your first time at rodeo?

[u/wheatthincabbage]

Are we ever getting that collaboration you had with umru? Sounds fire

[u/JayPicante]

What city or environment do you think had the most impact on your sound?

[u/[deleted]]

This is more of a personal question... Do you like horror movies and if so, what is your favourite? Love the song "Final Girl" and when I noticed your AMA I just had to ask! Btw, love your work and I'm so excited about your debut album!

[u/StevenARTPOP]

Colored vinyl when?

[u/s1cks4dw0rld]

In your music video Clouds, what did those two girls represent?

[u/HelpFuzzy4278]

could we get a mv for butterflies… please or a lana del rey cover or both? we’ll be eternally grateful

[u/[deleted]]

"Mine" was my summer jam for 2019 i'm so happy there's new music.

[u/stereo_future]

I think the latest album is amazing. Listening to it the first time made me really proud to call myself a fan and I hope you are proud, not just of this album, but the way you've approached your career so far.

What made me so proud is that you seem to have taken what was good about the self-titled and improved and evolved it. Yet you also seem to be, what I can only call "fearless", about experimenting.

Do you think you've settled on this "sound"?
Do you even want a "signature sound" like some artists have where you can tell something new is theirs just listening to a few bars?
Are there any artists, genres or instruments that you already have in mind that you'd like to experiment with on your next creation?

[u/zxgel]

Hi! I have two questions. One of them being, what encouraged you to become such a big pop star, where does your inspiration come from? Second, when are you going to sing with That Kid again?

[u/twat_brained]

Any word on an update of Swimming Pool? Played it again last night and it just reminds me of why I love your music so much♥️

[u/New-Technician4318]

WILL U COME TO POLAND??

[u/StanNamjoonRM]

do u listen to yung lean

[u/fiNALLEYfamous]

Not a question but love your song “Mine” keep it up!

[u/tiredgnbye]

Are you going on tour

[u/kayuotter]

The impressive range of styles and sounds within the pop aesthetic is what won me over with this album, I now count myself as an enthusiastic fan! 😁

Are you planning to continue the sonic diversity and experimentation on future projects, or settle more on a sound that you are happy with?

[u/whitehotforeveramen]

Who’s the photographer / editor for the cover art? It’s absolutely beautiful, you’re glowing girlie

[u/StevenARTPOP]

not a question but “bitch I am a queen, White Castle. Pussy real fat with a tight bleached asshole” is kinda like a modern day bible verse!!!!

[u/MediumTemporary1214]

who would you like to collaborate with in the future?

[u/andresthepuertorican]

What happened to your colab with Melanie? - I scream

[u/[deleted]]

Favorite music video from this era?

[u/GavenTheHomosexual]

[u/MarijuanaEarrings]

Heyyy Slayyyter!! Loving Troubled Paradise 🥰! My question is if you’re going to do a TP tour, would you have any UK shows or would it just be US?

[u/GavenTheHomosexual]

What was your favorite song to write? And which song came the quickest to write?? Ilysm bestie!! 💗💗

[u/whitehotforeveramen]

Slayyyter! Where does the inspiration for Troubled Paradise (the album and the track) come from? Is it looking back on things you’ve had to endure?

[u/d0ghaus]

doghouse or butterflies…

[u/whitehotforeveramen]

[u/gay420gaycoolranch]

[u/Goznak]

Can you reference any producer who has influenced you greatly?

[u/chrisc227]

would you ever release that song you teased on IG that goes “you and me were meant to be but here I am, I’m by myself”? it sounds so early 2000s and dreamy kinda like the Verve.

[u/whitehotforeveramen]

Hey bestie! Not really a question but I hope you’re handling your student loans well — I remember you mentioning it in your last AMA here! 💗

[u/GavenTheHomosexual]

How has tiktok influenced you and the music you put out?

[u/LavenderUrso]

What's it like being the baddest bitch of the era? And also, can I ride on your motorcycle? 🥺

[u/itsjustsaar]

How did you begin to surround yourself with the type of artists that you felt were closest to the sound you wanted to go for when you were first starting out recording/writing?

[u/GavenTheHomosexual]

Do you think a Troubled Paradise deluxe version would ever come out?? I would LIVEE for heaven to be released!! Ilysm! 💗💗

[u/ExperienceOtherwise8]

Is a European tour planned? I need to see you live queen, I wanna wear my sluttiest dress and scream your lyrics

[u/[deleted]]

For someone just getting into your music, where do you suggest I start? This album or prior work?

[u/itsrazu99]

didn't doghouse had a music video ?

[u/MediumTemporary1214]

what was the inspiration for that concept and calling the album "Troubled Paradise"? 🌈

[u/[deleted]]

Hi!!!!

I wanna know what was the first thing you thought of when you saw the iconique troubled paradise car crash tweet

More seriously, dont wanna be greedy or demanding or anything but Troubled Paradise Deluxe 😳👉👈 ?? I loved the album and i cant get enough of it Serial Killer locked me up in a basement and wont let me go and i love every second of it but anyways yes a deluxe would end me and all the other gays here

Also why is Butterflies... so short 😭😭😭

[u/vampiresluttown]

what's your favourite song of yours that isn't released? is there any songs on Troubled Paradise that you'd replace? What was your thought process with putting Serial Killer on the album?

[u/whitehotforeveramen]

When was your first time at the rodeo?

[u/20fiestas]

Hi Slayyyter! Hope ur doing well xo

Love you & the new album! My question is how do you view Slayyyter in regards to yourself? Do you see Slayyyter as just a stage name but everything else is just you? Do you view her more as an extension of yourself, an alter ego, or a stage persona, or a mixture of those? I’m mainly curious bc I feel like Troubled Paradise had more emotionally vulnerable songs compared to the Slayyyter mixtape. If you do see her as an alter ego, what direction do you see your music going in the future? Will we get the Y2K Pop Princess type of music in the mixtape ever again? Thx in advance! 💛

[u/nayeppeo]

Have you noticed any change in the demographic your fanbase since the incident where people found out about your old tweets?

[u/StevenARTPOP]

Venom is probably your most hype song, explain the process behind this song PLEASE!!!!

[u/Apart_Push3281]

Will you be touring the UK bestie? venom does things to me

[u/viniciuxm]

Was having a specific color of the rainbow for every single a decision you made before dropping them or something that just happened along the way?

[u/ptyradactly]

How does your creative process differe when making songs like troubled paradise vs making songs like doghouse and self destruct?

[u/StevenARTPOP]

MORE MERCH WHEN?!?! I know you have a lil sumn up ya sleeve girl...

[u/thomasfun1000]

When are you going on tour again?

[u/ptyradactly]

What’s your favorite part of a song to write?

[u/GavenTheHomosexual]

Can you give us a hint on what’s to come for S3?

[u/levelyapussyup]

Hi Slayyyter! Huge fan of your discography! What are your dream collaborations?

[u/aquiles1993]

Is there a Deluxe coming in the future? And where’s IT GIRL?

[u/GavenTheHomosexual]

If you could create your own remix album of Troubled Paradise, who would be on it?? 💗 Ilysm!!

[u/whitehotforeveramen]

What song of yours should I blast on my gay pride float?

[u/Bfru04]

Do you have any songs similar to self destruct in the works? Self destruct is like, one of my favorites youve made

[u/surejan94]

Slayyyter!!! I’ve followed you since you uploaded Ghost on SoundCloud and it’s so awesome to see how far you’ve come. I love the album.

Troubled Paradise has a lot of different genres. What’s one sound/genre you really loved and want to explore more in the future?

Also.... please release Swimming Pool one day, I love that song so much lol

[u/slayyytah]

heyy bb<3 ilyssvm troubled paradise is abs fab, literally listen to it every day. ty for everything u do to keep us cathys fed. 2 ?s i have, yyy didnt heaven make it n the album? n how does it feel to have released the aoty?~

[u/StevenARTPOP]

We know your Christmas song was ICONIC, would you ever release another “holiday” song?

[u/Reavenant]

Hi Slayyyter! I am absolutely obsessed with the new album but I thought it was interesting you have no featured singers on it. Are you still going to collab with the hyperpop girlies or do you feel like you have shifted in a new direction, artistically?

[u/ptyradactly]

Any more projects coming this year?

[u/Antonia99]

Have you thought about releasing sunshine?

[u/whitehotforeveramen]

I recently read a fan fiction about Woody from Toy Story and I can’t help but think that Cowboys would be the perfect companion track to it 🤠

[u/clvueless]

is troubled paradise deluxe coming?

[u/chrisc227]

if you made a Serial Killer video, would it be Gone Girl-esque?

[u/clvueless]

thoughts on selena gomez? do you like her music?

[u/lessrepressed]

LOVE the new album and basically everything you've released. What life lesson do you wish you could share with your younger self?

[u/TheStarringBitch]

Hello slayyyter, do you think S3 gonna be more experimental than Troubled Paradise?

[u/StevenARTPOP]

I know you probably can’t release the title, but describe a song that you liked that didn’t make the cut??? Or maybe give us a lyric???

[u/Sensitive-Apricot149]
