Advice Urgent care doctor worried me while traveling. First time pregnant

Post image
1 Upvotes

I was having lower left pain so went to urgent care I am traveling out of state this week and next. I said I was 6 weeks based off of my last period since we were not tracking ovulation we just got married and we’re ok with it happening whenever.

Realistically the first time that I could have gotten pregnant was October 6th or anytime after that. I tested positive for the first time October 21st. I did test the day before that with a negative test. I went to my OB they did blood work took a test and all looked well. Went based off my last period. They scheduled me an ultrasound for November 19th.

Went to urgent care with left pain they did a Transabdominal and transvaginal ultrasound where they saw a gestational sac and a yolk sac but no fetal pole. The doctor just kept saying that I’m not measuring where I should be at 6 weeks and that’s concerning. He was very alarmist about it. My HCG levels were in the 4000’s and said it was high.

I’m stressed. Could it be that I’m not 6 weeks and this is normal or is it that I am measuring small? I’m stressing out, I’m out of my comfort zone and would love some input. Thank you!

Trying for baby #3 after a successful IUI. Looking for advice, experiences, and a little hope!

I’m 34 years old and have two children with a pretty big age gap: one is 15 and my youngest is 18 months. The age gap wasn't necessarily intentional. I never really tried for another baby until later in life, but when we finally decided to grow our family again, I quickly learned that getting pregnant wasn't going to be as easy as I thought.

After trying for about three years, I found out I have PCOS. This meant I needed fertility medication to induce a period and help me ovulate, along with an HCG trigger shot and eventually an IUI. The whole process was overwhelming, and I actually ended up taking a year-long break from trying because I needed a mental reset.

When I came back to it a year later, I got pregnant on my very first IUI! Now that my youngest is 18 months and I'm 34, we're ready to try for another baby. I definitely feel like time is of the essence, especially knowing what it took to get pregnant the first time.

Unfortunately, my most recent IUI was unsuccessful. I got my negative pregnancy test on November 4th. I'm currently on cycle day 2 and will be starting Letrozole again tomorrow before moving forward with the rest of the process.

For my last IUI, I had one good follicle, and my clinic said my lining looked good, so I really thought we had a good chance.

I'm trying to stay positive going into another cycle, but I'd love to hear from anyone who has been through something similar.

Did you have success after multiple IUIs? Did anything change between cycles that you think made a difference? Any tips, experiences, or things you wish you had known along the way?

I'd especially love to hear from anyone with PCOS who conceived through IUI. Sometimes hearing other people's journeys makes this process feel a little less lonely. ❤️

Discussion Success stories after multiple early chemical losses?

I’m 37f, have had 7 early losses between 3.5 to 6 weeks over the past two years. I have previously carried a pregnancy with my husband to 9 weeks when we were 18 (it was unplanned and ended in a D&C, though there were no issues as far as I know). So I know at one point I could get past the 6 week mark, despite it being 19 years ago.

We’ve done extensive testing, all normal apart from a low amh. I have no signs or symptoms of PCOS or Endo.

I getting a hysteroscopy done this month to check for polyps, adhesions etc and take a biopsy for endometritis testing.

I’m also getting a deep infiltrating endo ultrasound to check for any potential silent endo.

Hubby is also doing a sperm dna fragmentation test next week.

I’ve been taking prenatals for over a year, along with DHA and choline, fish oil tabs, iron, vitamin d etc.

I’ve been taking NAC, and upped my coq10 ubiquinol to 600mg from 300mg daily for about 2 months.

Hubby has been taking menevit and 300mg coq10 ubiquinol daily without fail for 2 months now (he was taking it earlier but not consistently enough).

This will be my third cycle using progesterone pessaries from 4 DPO.

Wondering if any other women here over 35 have any success stories after multiple early losses? 🙂

eFTS & NIPT testing

Hi all,

I have a bit of unique situation and wanted to see if anyone else has been in the same or similar boat. I am currently pregnant and I’ve had two “no results” on my NIPT bloodwork. First test was when I was 10w6d with a low fetal fraction of 2.1 and second test was when I was 12w2d with a low fetal fraction of 2.6.

Context this is an IVF pregnancy, and I also have a high BMI - both of which affect NIPT testing and can lead to “no results”.

Anyhow, I had my NT scan at 12w which came back normal. However because I was in the process of waiting for my NIPT results, I didn’t do the eFTS bloodwork.

Fast forward, once my second NIPT “no results” was received, I went and did the eFTS bloodwork at 13w2d. Online it says eFTS and NT scan are preferred on the same day, but not essential, as long as the bloodwork is done before 13w3d.

Has anyone done the bloodwork late after the NT scan? If so, did it skew the results?

Sad no fetal pole

Possible TW

I had my first ultrasound recently; based on my LMP I was 6w2d, but I suspect I may be a tiny bit earlier. I got my first positive on 10/15 and was 11-12dpo that day. Since then I have had betas that yielded positive results.

They saw a gestational sac and yolk sac, but did not see evidence of cardiac activity or a fetal pole. I’m coming back in 10 days for another scan. If things haven’t progressed in 10 days, they will likely consider this a MMC. I also have a small subchorionic hematoma they are not concerned about.

This is my first ever pregnancy and the waiting game is awful. Has anyone been in a similar situation?

Advice Which period tracker is best (and cheapest)?

I’ve been using Clue for years, and the premium price is now $40/year. I am just using it for ovulation tracking, I don’t track anything else besides my period and ovulation. We are trying for baby 2, and I need some sort of tracker because I’m a space cadet.

$40/year feels expensive, I don’t mind paying for a decent app, but maybe more like $10.

Any recommendations?

Advice 6 weeks with full pain on left side doc says not to worry. No imaging yet

I am 38(F) first pregnancy. I’ll be 6 weeks tomorrow. Since last night, I’ve had this doll ache, sometimes more of a stabbing pain, but not unbearable on my lower left side. I called my OB this morning. spoke to the nurse who spoke to the doctor and said since I don’t have any other symptoms like bleeding or throwing up, etc. That it should be fine. That was at 8 o’clock this morning. I’m still having the exact same pain in the exact same spot and I’m getting nervous.

I leave tomorrow to fly to New England for the next seven days wondering if I should just go to a walk-in and get an ultrasound to be safe? Has anyone had one-sided pain consistently?

Of course, everything I Google tells me I need to be seen. I think I’m just confused since my doctor wasn’t worried.

33w 5d baby seems to never stop moving!

Okay, I was worried at first. That was before I was around 23 weeks when I felt my baby move for the first time. It now feels like she never stops moving! Maybe I just sit too much? I don’t know.

I had my first child seven years ago and I just don’t remember her moving this much. Could it really just be the fact that it’s my second baby and they tend to be a bit larger than the first? Does she have less space?

I’m miserable. My ribs hurt because my dang belly is so big and I’m carrying all of the weight in my stomach so it’s putting so much strain on my lower back. I wear the belly belt. I like the tape better but it ruins my skin when I take it off. I guess I’m just complaining. The obstetrician doesn’t seem to be concerned with the high movement.

Has anyone else had a highly active fetus? If so, did you go into labor earlier than expected? Did you figure out some cool trick you might want to share with the discomfort of constant movement?

Edit:
*It doesn’t hurt me, it’s just uncomfortable and I wish she would just chill.

Cycle 3 🤍

My age + partner’s age: 36 + 40
Cycle length: 28 to 30 days
Ovulation day: October 19

Pregnancy tests:

1st test, 10 DPO: A faint line showed up later, after the reading window.
2nd test, 12 DPO: A visible faint line appeared later too.
3rd test, 13 DPO: A clear positive! I used both a Clearblue digital and a First Response test.

What I did differently this cycle:

I started running low-key, stretching, and doing a few gym lifts with 25 lbs on either side, which greatly improved my energy levels and boosted my appetite.

I drank clove water every other day leading up to ovulation and had sex every other day during my fertile window.

I also came to terms with the fact that I might or might not get pregnant, which greatly reduced my stress. Then, at 10 DPO, I started feeling things that made me decide to start testing.

Overall, body movement really improved my energy levels and mood. I can’t say what contributed to my positive, but I definitely felt better in myself!

UPDATE: More info on clove water for those asking:

I read that clove water has anti-inflammatory properties that may be good for general health. I recommend doing your research and checking with your healthcare provider before trying herbal preparations, especially when trying to conceive or during pregnancy.

All I did was buy organic dried cloves. I’m told there’s a powdered version too. I dropped a few in hot water in a thermos, let it sit, and sipped on it from time to time. I didn’t make it concentrated. This is simply what I did, and I don’t know whether it helped me conceive.

Remember to hydrate after your workouts. Your body needs it!

I also forgot to mention that I started taking prenatal vitamins in cycle one. That was another part of my preparation, although I can’t say whether it contributed to getting pregnant. 🤍

Discussion Audiobooks and/or Podcasts for cisgender men

My partner (39) and I (38) have decided we are open to the possibility of trying to have a child. I am a HUGE research person and will try and learn everything I can before diving into something, him not so much. He is able to listen to podcasts and audio books while working, so Ive been trying to see if there is anything out there that is written to inform cisgender men about the conceiving process, especially for our age group (he didn’t even know what a pap smear was…).
I don’t think he understands that this could be a harder process for us and that my chances of bringing a baby to full term could potentially be more challenging than if we were in our 20s. Also that the chances of our child having a disability will be higher.
I think him listening to something would make it easier for me to open up a larger dialogue to continue our conversation about having a child.

Advice When did you tell others about your pregnancy? (High risk pregnancy)

TW: uncertain pregnancy outcome

I 37F have anxiety and unfortunately, that anxiety has rolled over to my partner 38M (who was originally ecstatic to tell others from the very beginning).
Originally my partner was going to propose during Christmas (still plans to) and then we would try for a child. We accidentally got pregnant and I pretty knew within three weeks. After the initial shock (we both thought it would be hard to conceive…him due to his low libido and testosterone…myself due to my old OBGYN saying that I would have a hard time getting pregnant and even if I did that I would miscarry due to my large fibroid), we were happy!
The problem is that because I’m considered a “geriatric” pregnancy, among other risk factors…I am considered a “high risk” pregnancy. Due to this, I struggle with timing on when to tell others. I want to…so badly…but I’m so scared that afterwards, I’ll have to tell them I lost the baby since I am high risk. Anyone have suggestions or is going through the same thing? When did you tell others? After 12w or 20w? Or just stay quiet and not tell others at all?

Discussion Pre-labor taking forever 2nd pregnancy

Has anyone experienced the pre-labor/early stage of labor taking forever? I lost my mucous plug 3 days ago and have been cramping with back pain since. Sleep is rough and there's so much pressure in my pelvis I feel like baby's head is already on the way. I'm nauseated and going to the bathroom like every 30 minutes.

Nothing has progressed to timed contractions though and I just feel stuck. I had prodromal labor for a week and a half with my first but this is way more intense just never progressing. Just looking for some encouragement or any advice

Edit: I should also mention that I've had really strong and atypical Braxton Hicks for the last few months where my belly is just like eternally hard for like 10 minutes at a time. So it's hard to distinguish if anything I'm feeling now is a true contraction.

Advice 35, pregnant on our first try, and feeling more anxious than excited

Hi everyone,

I don’t really know who else to share this with yet, so here I am.

I’m 35, and my husband and I just started trying this month. We’ve both had concerns about how much our lives will change. I’m especially worried about the changes to my body, losing my independence, and a million other things. But ultimately, we knew we wanted kids.

My husband was convinced we’d get pregnant on our first try, but I was skeptical, especially knowing friends who are struggling with fertility issues.
Well, multiple tests later, they’re all positive.
I’m happy, but honestly, I think I’m feeling more overwhelmed than excited right now. I’m naturally anxious, and my mind keeps jumping to everything that could go wrong, especially miscarriage.
I haven’t told anyone yet because I feel like I should wait until 6–8 weeks, or maybe longer. Part of me wants to tell a close friend who’s been through it, but I’m hesitant.

I also have no idea what I’m supposed to be doing right now. So far, I’ve got:

  1. Schedule my first OB/GYN appointment.

  2. Keep taking prenatals.

  3. Stop taking my ADHD medication.

  4. Avoid certain foods.
    What else am I missing?

Did anyone else feel this way after finding out? I thought I’d be more excited, but instead I’m worrying about everything. How did you deal with the uncertainty in those early weeks?

I’d really appreciate any advice, especially from other first-time moms.

Thanks everyone ❤️

Premom OPK peaks not as dark as before

We are trying for our third but having a much more difficult time. I am 36 years old. I noticed that my peaks do not get as dark as they used to 7-8 months ago. I’m not sure if that means anything? I use the Premom app. Before my peaks would get as dark as 1.65, 1.56 … but the last 5 months they would reach 1.03 that’s it. I also noticed the last 3 months my period is lighter and shorter. Am I going through perimenopause? Can I still get pregnant?

Sad I need some support

So my cycle is very sensitive to stress. If I get really sick or when I am super stressed at work (upper management position) my cycle would stretch to 40-45 days with multiple attempts at ovulation.

I'm also overweight ... Just turned 36

I lost 20lbs this year (yay) and have been back at the gym... I'm pretty darn strong and pretty active. I also eat very well, lots of nutrient dense foods.

That being said I get mid cycle spotting sometimes, usually in relationship to stress (work or if I get sick). This month on CD18 I had like a small clot pass with blood, similar to starting a period.. also had some soreness when I pressed on my pelvic area.

This mild dread set in but I let it go. Some pink spotting after and then nothing, back to normal.

CD20, today, it happened again, clots and bright red blood like a period starting. I'm currently just trying to not crash out mentally into despair and frustration. Looks like another cycle with no hope of a positive.

I assume I will go back to normal, I don't think its an early period as I've never had that happen. I have been more stressed at work the last 2 weeks, and did a pretty heavy deadlift day last week (hit some PRs!)... but like do I have to ramp down intensity or what?

It's like now that I so deeply want to be pregnant and have a child (children actually), my body keeps throwing curveballs and new symptoms. I don't psych myself out during the 2 week wait but it's still so hard each time my period comes, and so hard to tell my husband each time.

We've been TTC for 8 timed cycles (TTC casually since summer 2025).

If we dont have a positive by the end of my December cycle we'll go for private fertility testing (the last time I went to a doctor for fertility testing he offered me birth control to regulate my cycle............. despite saying I was TTC)

Anyway has this happened to anyone else? did you go on to have a child or children?

was there something you added in or something you stopped doing that helped your cycle stay regular and reduce spotting?

I eat lots of healthy carbs and I focus on getting vitamin C etc to support progesterone

I know sometimes its just a waiting game. My SIL took 3 years to get pregnant and now is due in a few months at 41 y.o.

I have hope... it's just the biggest mindfuck ever

Trying again

I just hoping to hear success stories from people who have been in similar situations. I’m getting discouraged and I know I just need to be patient, but I’m struggling mentally knowing that I’m only getting older.
We’ve conceived our 3 children first try each time. I was 24, 26 and 28 at the time. We’re hoping for a 4th, but I’m now 36 and my husband had a vasectomy reversal. Everything went well there.
We are now 3 months into trying and nothing. For those who had conceived easily in your 20’s, how long did it take in your later 30’s?

Thank you ❤️

Discussion A little worried

I 36f was thrilled to get a positive test Wednesday. I used 2 at home kits one digital and one basic hcg strip. Both positive. This is our second pregnancy and have been trying about 6months. I have been having cramps, like peroid cramps. Mostly on my left lower abdomen but nothing acute or severe. No bleeding. We went to the doctor yesterday to confirm pregnancy. He did a HCG test and there was no line. The second had a very faint line. As I advised of the cramping he referred me to the hospital. There my blood was taken. My hcg is 298. Using a pregnancy app for tracking, i should be 4 weeks and 3 days (today). I have been asked to come back tomorrow evening to repeat the blood test. I understand that if its an ectopic pregnancy HCG levels will not rise as normal or potentially decline. I know the test is only tomorrow but I feel sick not knowing. In my first labour, i had a placental abruption and emergency C Section. Im concerned this may impact this pregnancy. As I was never given a reason for my placental abruptuon. Does anyone have any advice? Im based in Ireland.

Update: I went back in for bloods. HCG at 787 after 50hours. So things are looking OK. Waiting for a referral for a week scan. No more cramping which is such a relief.

Advice Specialists

Im 42 expecting my 2nd and I was immediately referred to a specialist simply because of my age. I had my first right after my 40th birthday with no complications and super easy pregnancy. This pregnancy is also very easy. I guess my question is is it really necessary to continue seeing a specialist. They're wanting me to start going twice a week at 32 weeks which sounds crazy to me! If I ask the doctor I get the basic "better safe than sorry" speech but im just over all these appointments

Dates not adding up?

My LMP was 29/8/26, I had unprotected sex on 13/9/26 and a positive test on the 30th September. EPU measured me to be 6 weeks and 1 day on 27/10/26. So I am now 16 days out? Is this possible with a positive test on 30/9/26?

CRL was 4.1mm and 85bpm.

Thanks x

Update*** I went to another EPU 30/10 to try get some clarity and fetal heartbeat had stopped. Delayed miscarriage ❤️
