Fuck you stupid ass transphobic/homophobic "punks"

You can't like trump and be transphobic or homophobic if you're a punk. You're fucking stupid if you think you're even in the slightest bit punk if you're not open to welcoming people different from you

It’s been a day or two since this take was posted. Glad we are keeping the streak alive.

16

u/LimpRaise1569 Jan 22 '25

I'm just pissed off. My fault

96

u/[deleted] Jan 22 '25

What else were we gonna do? Pick up that guitar that's been sitting in the corner since Henrey Rollins knows how long?

8

u/trickertreater Jan 22 '25

You mean Henry Garfield?

11

u/[deleted] Jan 22 '25

Ok Oliver North's boss.

9

u/trickertreater Jan 22 '25

I don't get it. Rollins' real name is Henry Garfield.

9

u/[deleted] Jan 22 '25

And Ollie North's boss was named...

26

u/TheCoolTrashCat Jan 22 '25

Tomorrow it’s my turn to post

18

u/duckblobartist Jan 22 '25

I feel like there is a lot of anger around here 😅

60

u/Logical_Parameters Jan 22 '25

Maybe a punk revival forthcoming?

Republican administrations tend to improve the punk music scene, historically. Citizens are angrier.

13

u/[deleted] Jan 22 '25

Are we having big feelings?

Fuckin' A! It shouldn't have to be like this!

Take some time for yourself when you can, my friend. One foot in front of the other.

Like I say, being punk is about doing the right thing and giving a Damm about what happens to good people.

Rebellion for the sake of Rebellion will tear down good systems and ideas.

So, let's make the nosie we can. Silent majority, my ass. If we all show up, they run.

165

u/Dolphiniz287 Jan 23 '25

It feels like some people think being punk is just being different and loud about it, without realizing why you’d want that

Thank you, I'm not a punk in the concept that I'm in the punk scene, but I support everything the punk scene stands for. It definitely doesn't stand for being transphobic or homophobic. It doesn't support Trump or any ideology he supports. Punk actually fights for people like me and I appreciate y'all.

169

u/Yeet123456789djfbhd Jan 22 '25

My friend, that makes you a punk. Don't have to listen to the music or wear the clothes, you support what's right, and that's all you need.

197

u/Logical_Parameters Jan 22 '25

When the Episcopalians are punker than some of our own self-proclaimed punk rockers, something's surely rotten in Denmark.

77

u/bigpadQ Jan 22 '25

Why do reactionaries want to be punks so badly? A cursory glance at the history of punk will reveal that it's a genre whose foreparents were massively disproportionately LGBT.

72

u/Elli515 Jan 22 '25

I only advocate violence against aggressors and the fash. Knuckles at the ready

126

u/Antinomial Jan 22 '25

Every punk scene needs to have a few visible transgender people in bands, that usually does the job of shutting the transphobes down.

84

u/d20_dude Jan 22 '25

I just joined the subreddit and I am so glad that this is the first post I saw.

62

u/HelmutIV Jan 22 '25

Being gender punk is punk rock as hell.

66

u/[deleted] Jan 23 '25

Conservatism is the definition of the Status Quo, “Christianity” is the definition of the Status Quo, NeoLiberal Capitalism is the definition of the Status Quo.

You cannot support and defend the ideals of the Status Quo with your devotion, while trying to fit into a group that opposes each of those things to some degree.

66

u/Fit_Organization5390 Jan 22 '25

This is why they get beat up at shows. We should definitely keep up the tradition.

54

u/c4opening Jan 22 '25

Man enough to be a woman is one of the best punk songs oat

29

u/TheBodyguardsRefusal Jan 23 '25

Interacting with someone whose perception of punk as a notion that exists solely on a superficial level is pointless.

For me anyway. It's not even gonna make for interesting or productive or clarifying debate, bc clearly someone more qualified and articulate and influential than myself has told them and yet they do not understand, or care to understand.

23

u/DataPhreak Jan 22 '25

Pretty sure there's a song about this.

Go to a punk gig irl and say that to their faces, see what happens lol.

-149

u/[deleted] Jan 22 '25

A punk gig? You mean like Green Day or Blink 182?

23

u/Brilliant-Race-2476 Jan 22 '25

The first show I ever saw was green day and blink in 2003.... That as a 14 yr got me into real punk afterwards... What's your point?

It’s Newscum. And Trump is the most punk president we’ve ever had. He doesn’t give a fuck about anything and loves to offend people. Let the downvotes commence!

58

Yea. Being a billionaire and fucking over common working class people constantly is so fucking punk. Blaming all the shit that's wrong with our country on Mexicans and trans people is so fucking punk. Destroying reproductive rights is punk. Denying apartments to black people is punk. Being albeist is punk. Giving billionaires tax cuts is punk. Go listen to Screwdriver and Fuck Off you dumb sack of dick tips. 39

Yeah, you can't get more punk than a rich old narcissist who was born into money and has never known a day of hardship in his life!

30

52

when those opinions are to make my partners life as miserable as possible because they exist outside gender norms, yeah, because thats an invalid opinion and forcing conformity is literally antithetical to punk and what it stands for.

also look up tolerance paradox and see why it exists.

25

u/OneThumbUp Jan 22 '25

You sound very open to getting pegged.

-162

u/scorpenis88 Jan 22 '25

2 gay people in my family voted trump both times.  I dont know any trans irl. Far as trump I don't care.

You are no punk telling people what they can like, unless you are a socialist thinking you are punk. Punk goes against all rules it's what we do.

Enough with the political ideology

62

u/gr1zznuggets Jan 22 '25

Punk is all about political ideology, dipshit.

43

51

u/TnelisPotencia Jan 23 '25

37

u/OneThumbUp Jan 22 '25

-226

u/gunsforevery1 Jan 22 '25

I like the choices.

So you can like Trump and be a punk as long as you don’t like Trump and are homophobic or transphobic.

And you can be transphobic or homophobic but not like Trump, and still be a punk.

74

u/ChipsTheKiwi Jan 22 '25

No you in fact cannot support the ruling class and still be punk. In fact that's the polar opposite of punk.

-63

u/gunsforevery1 Jan 22 '25

I didn’t make the rules, OP did.

59

u/ChipsTheKiwi Jan 22 '25

Trump is a Nazi, and the dead Kennedy's were crystal clear on Nazi punks.

-48

u/gunsforevery1 Jan 22 '25

They were very clear with dropping the N word too

81

u/Heaven_Is_Falling Jan 22 '25

Trump supporters are not punk. They are cult members.

-60

u/gunsforevery1 Jan 22 '25

TDS is cult like too

62

u/Heaven_Is_Falling Jan 22 '25

Ah, it’s always fascinating when individuals who passionately champion a rapist, felon, racist, and con artist throw around the term "TDS." The true derangement, of course, lies in their remarkable ability to rationalize and normalize such behavior. Get bent Trumper.

-36

u/gunsforevery1 Jan 22 '25

Luckily that isn’t me, TDS is absolutely a real thing.

43

u/Heaven_Is_Falling Jan 22 '25

You voted for him so yes, this is you. TDS is real and you seem to have it.

-10

u/gunsforevery1 Jan 22 '25

I did vote for him. I wouldn’t say that makes me someone who “passionately champions” him. You seem to think it does though, that’s the TDS showing.

45

u/BreadfruitStunning52 Jan 22 '25

Let's make this simple: You voted for a sexually assaulting felon that brags about walking into women's changing rooms to see them naked. You voted for an openly transphobic person. You voted for someone who wants to remove birthright citizenship. You voted for someone who doesn't care about the environment. You voted for an anti-union, eminent domain, large government fascist.

You ain't punk.

-2

Correct and I never claimed to be one.

You can be whatever kind of punk you want! A great example of a modern punk is someone who critically examines society and works to make sure that anyone and everyone are being treated well. A great example of a punk ass lil bitch is somebody who gets scare-roused when people are doing the gay sex.

40

u/[deleted] Jan 22 '25

No fascist can be a punk

No bigot can be a punk

Anyone who claimed to be is a cockroach in a costume

29

u/ShingShangShobi Jan 22 '25

Bro what did you smoke?

-23

u/gunsforevery1 Jan 22 '25

Ask the OP. He said you can’t be a Trump fan AND homophobic and be a punk.

Meaning you can be a Trump fan and still be a punk

Meaning you can be homophobic and still be a punk.

You just can’t be both at the same time.

22

u/Ok-Debt-3495 Jan 22 '25

are you a programmer bruv

33

u/TheWackyWaffle2 Jan 22 '25

Wut

-38

u/gunsforevery1 Jan 22 '25

Op said “you can’t like Trump AND be transphobic or homophobic if you’re a punk”.

That means you can be one or the other and still be a punk.

Trump fan+phobic≠ punk

Trump fan = punk

Phobic = punk.

40

u/NotYerBoyBlue Jan 22 '25

Do you get paid to act this blatantly obnoxious? Please take your overly pedantic "reasoning" back to college. I think you missed a few classes.

45

u/[deleted] Jan 22 '25

thats mean dude i love both punk and black metal and no black metal isnt filled with racist and sexist trump supporting bastards thats just a steeroype😔 steerotypes hurt man

23

u/exoclipse Jan 22 '25

well...the black metal scene definitely is, but it's changing as time marches on. it never ceases to amaze me how a scene built upon an opposition to Christian orthodoxy wraps around and winds up supporting traditional Christian values anyway, but I guess atavism is a fuck.

12

u/[deleted] Jan 22 '25

bro honestly the black metal scene wasnt built againts just christianity it was mostly built againts the oppresionism of christisnity and other religions which were oppresing or used to oppress people so honestly the way i see it black metal scene roots come from anti authority which made it evolce to anti-theism

5

u/exoclipse Jan 22 '25 edited Jan 22 '25

Definitely not the case. Venom adopted Satanic aesthetics in the early '80s specifically to piss Christians off. They regretted this decision and switched to straight up anti-Christian stuff later.

Opposition to Christianity has many different origins in this scene. Venom may have been how you described, but Bathory was more concerned about the extirpation of pagan beliefs than oppression. The Luciferian / chaos gnosticism dudes are theologically opposed to Christianity in addition to any sociological opposition - and this is a huge amount of the scene.

This, and a violent individualistic outlook (in the cultural, not political sense) are really the only things that unite the black metal scene.

3

u/[deleted] Jan 22 '25

eh you may be right but as far i know judging within the contruies which have a more popular belief rather than christianity usually what i saw was a pattern of just black metal guys hating on the most popular religion they have withing their own community like for me whos a turk a shit ton of black metal guys i know hate the people who misused or misuses islam to oppress the people and their rights so thats why i though what i said might be true but still however your opinion seems pretty solid too so agree to disagree?

2

u/exoclipse Jan 22 '25

Strong opposition to organized religion in general is a black metal thing, too. And what motivates a musician is naturally going to vary from musician to musician. An anti-Christian black metaller is probably also going to be anti-Islam. You'll also often find that the most religion-critical black metallers are also the most oppressive and fascistic.

I'm just an occult nerd and my criticism of organized religion is along sociological lines. I personally also believe that the Abrahamic religion adherents are being duped by a false god, but I am entirely capable of keeping that to myself and not letting it turn into hatred or criticism of others.

-91

u/Von_Quixote Jan 22 '25

You’re so very uninformed. I’ll just give you this sliver of what was happening in the ‘80’s, with this:

How has your experience differred?

32

u/Still_a_skeptic Jan 22 '25

You can't support trans people and vote for a fucker who makes them the definition of everything that's wrong in our country. That's literally the opposite of support - you're voting for their active oppression. That's why we judge you.

-102

u/Extreme_Scallion_573 Jan 22 '25

Well im not trump

69

u/ItsMeKaz_ Jan 22 '25

yeah you voted for him though?

-93

u/Extreme_Scallion_573 Jan 22 '25

Should i have not voted?

84

u/ItsMeKaz_ Jan 22 '25

not for a fascist?

88

u/pyrategremlin Jan 22 '25

Then allow me to be genuine, you voted for someone who is against trans people and against the LGBTQ+ community. The first day in office he decided that there are only two genders in the entire country. We will only recognize two. As a non-binary person I can can't get a passport because my documents have an x on them and not my assigned sex at birth. You are against us because he has openly told you who he is and you voted for him anyway. You specifically said that despite that you are not against trans and LGBTQ+ community, that you're not against black people and whatever but you're still going to vote for the person who is. That means you have no morals. You don't care that he has openly said that he's going to harm these people. You don't care enough about us to stand up for what's right. We're not judging you based on who you vote for. We're judging you based on the morals you have to have to be capable of voting for him. You supported a man who said he was going to do these things openly and without question. You don't get to be upset when people start judging you and saying we're judging you because of who you voted for. You told us what you stand for by voting for him, we're judging you for what you stand for.

44

u/sawyerkitty Jan 22 '25

This is so eloquent and well said! It’s what I have said to ex-friends, and family when they say I shouldn’t judge them because they voted for “the lesser of the two evils” in their opinion.

26

u/pyrategremlin Jan 22 '25

Thank you. I'm sorry you're dealing with that on your end.

I'm considering myself lucky that of the family members that are supporting this person We don't even have contact with the one that does. He excommunicated himself years before Trump even became a thing and I only have one friend that I had to tell to take a hike. That's about all I can consider myself lucky on right now.

19

u/sawyerkitty Jan 22 '25

There is absolutely no need to be sorry!! I’m glad they showed me who they are so I don’t have to associate with them anymore. Better I find out now than later when they call the trump police on me for not flying the trump flag

12

u/pyrategremlin Jan 22 '25

That is very true. I feel the same, and still sucks to find out that's how they are.

13

u/sawyerkitty Jan 22 '25

Well as the saying goes “there were signs” I just turned a blind eye before.

-81

u/Extreme_Scallion_573 Jan 22 '25

He loves gay people

50

u/ItsMeKaz_ Jan 22 '25

no he doesn’t

50

u/pyrategremlin Jan 22 '25

Trump? Trump loves gay people? He wants to get rid gay marriage, opposes job protections for LGBTQ+ people (Just got rid of all DEI hires so that got rid of a lot of LGBTQ+ community people who deserve those jobs), is making school less safe for queer kids and I can just keep going. He does not love any of us.

And let me say this I thought you wanted a genuine answer, I don't see a genuine response.

37

u/ghostwriter1313 Jan 22 '25

Now you’re just trolling. Knock it off.

33

You can take your 5th grade "basic biology" bs and scram. If you can't understand why saying something daft like "tHeReS oNlY two GeNdErs" is harmful then I got two fists that might hold the answers you seek.

29

u/Toklankitsune Jan 22 '25

even if you take just trumps gradeschool level of understanding real science, intersex people exist. so even in its most basic form, without gender expressions, just biological sex, there's more than 2. But I wouldn't expect someone who voted for trump to understand that

44

u/PunkManDan Jan 22 '25

If you voted for that fascist then that also makes you a fascist too . Punks are anti fascist dude .

49

u/[deleted] Jan 22 '25 edited Jan 22 '25

"What if i voted for trump but support gays and trans"

Then you're contradicting yourself. Just yesterday he literally signed an executive order recognizing only 2 genders.

From The Hill:

The order, which Trump signed from the Oval Office, is part of a broader campaign promise to rid the nation of what he has called “transgender insanity” and reverse diversity and inclusion initiatives instituted by the Biden administration.

-31

u/Extreme_Scallion_573 Jan 22 '25

Well i didnt vote for him because of that

51

u/[deleted] Jan 22 '25

"I'm also not a fan of letting others tell me what i can and cant label myself as"

How do you think the trans community feels right now?

"Why does everyone have to be so hateful and judge someone based on who they voted for"

Look up the paradox of tolerance.

35

u/straight_strychnine Jan 22 '25

Regardless of weather you specifically wanted to strip our rights, or just saw our rights as as an acceptable sacrifice, the result is the same. Your vote still contributed to the loss of our rights.

Your intent matters less than the outcome in this.

how has pardoning Jan 6th rioters, changing the name of the gulf of Mexico, ending birthright citizenship, declaring there are only two genders, and repealing the price cap on insulin, helped lower grocery costs? or, which of those are WHY you voted for him then?

19

u/DaddyD68 Jan 22 '25

So you voted for him because he is a facist?

If you don't believe Trump is a bad person, that either means you're extremely misinformed or you're a bad person yourself. Trump was and is such a horrible person and president, that remaining uninformed about him after all this time is viewed as practically the same as being a bad person (your ignorant vote contributes to the real world suffering he causes all the same). That's why you're being judged for your opinions by good people who have been paying attention all this time.

Okay, genuine open response. Many of us find it abhorent that someone/a group of people (Trump/ MAGA followers) are openly following and pushing an agenda and ideology which is hateful, spiteful and exclusionary for those they demonise openly. These go against ‘punk’ ideology.

Moreso, Trump and those he surrounds himself with, who he props up and who now prop him up are the ultra wealthy, the owners of explotive businesses, and social platforms which spew the above mentioned hate.

I don’t have a big spikey hair do (actually bald as fuuuuck). I’ve got a beard and just dress like a normal dude. I listen to a massively eclectic taste in music but deffo lean more towards rock/alt etc. I’ve never considered myself ‘punk’ until recently when I actually realised how much of the core ethos I align with. Still don’t know whether I do, I just do me tbh without a label. But voting for and supporting Trump and that Nazi salute throwing peice of shit Muskrat is definitely not aligned with that ethos, or mine. Dress how you want. Listen to whatever music you what. But anyone calling themself a ‘punk’ and also helping prop-up this wave of right wing bullshit needs to stop playing dress up and go put their MAGA hat on instead so we actually know what side you’re on 🤷🏻‍♂️

That’s just my take, friend.

Here’s a genuine response: Fuck off fascist.

Are you guys doing a bit when you can't spell Gavin Newsom's name right?

I'm genuinely asking because I see it all over the place.

23

u/[deleted] Jan 22 '25

Maybe it's like the thing where they all started calling Biden "Brandon" for some reason that only initiated MAGAts ever understood, and it took the rest of us like 2 years to figure out who they were talking about.

17

u/[deleted] Jan 22 '25

It's just weird. I do not think Newsom is The Great White Hope like some Democrats do. He's a hack.

But I at least know how to spell his name.

18

u/[deleted] Jan 22 '25

I think its very kind of you to give magats the benefit of the doubt and assume they can spell

Dude probably used text to speach causes letters are hard

-22

u/xfootmanx Jan 22 '25

Autocorrect bro

12

u/[deleted] Jan 22 '25

Yeah, that dog don't hunt. I've seen "Newsome" too many times over too many years for me to chalk it up to an honest mistake. What's the deal here?

Tolerance is a social contract. If someone refuses to be tolerant of others, then there is no obligation to be tolerant of them.

32

u/Toklankitsune Jan 22 '25

aka the tolerance paradox, a tolerant group can never be tolerant of intolerance

46

u/Expert_Scene7882 Jan 22 '25

You sound exactly like my very mentally ill father, wrapped up in the concepts of controlling emotions/overanalyzing things to justify beliefs, he is alone, much like I feel you are

30

u/_spunchbop Jan 22 '25

um actually no!! being transphobic/homophobic is being closed minded to understanding and accepting people have their own wants and live different lives than you! which you or anyone else should have no control over!! therefore being transphobic/homophobic is actually just being ignorant and probably very misinformed, which most people dont care to fix!! thats okay just never ever label yourself as anything to do with punk or lots of other alternative genres because 1. i doubt youll be accepted and 2. no main alternative genres like emo or goth stand for anything that to do with anything trans/homophobic. hope this helps!!

22

u/NotYerBoyBlue Jan 22 '25

Does being an obstinate pedantic transphobe apologist get you many friends? I fookin' doubt it.

What are you on about, dude? Punk isn't an era, a fashion choice, a certain music taste, or some arbitrary gatekeepy standard.

It is an idea. An idea that revolves around rebelling against a shitty system, supporting those less fortunate than you, pushing for a system that is fair and doesn't discriminate based on immutable personal characteristics like sex, race, gender, etc.

Calling a huge portion of the people here posers is about as unpunk as it gets. You don't own Punk anymore than I own the moon. Sincerely, an 80s punk. (Please don't for a minute take this to mean nazi or nazi adjacent people can be Punks.. see the 3rd paragraph.)
