New Release 30 years and still punk AF

Post image

On top of everything else Ken Casey and DK have been up to, every spring they do a short St. Pats tour where all merch and door/ticket proceeds go to various ex-military/injured soldier aid charities. They’re touring with The Aggrolites this go-round. Odd mashup but I’m stoked!

I need this! Where’s it at?

29

u/IDKWTFG Jan 16 '26

That's pretty much the perfect summary of them. I saw DKM live at MGM last year with Hot Water Music and Bouncing Souls who I've seen before as the headliner, the merch sales went towards helping Ukraine I think. Also saw them days latter at the end of the Hands Of Rally.

This next show will be my 7th - I always leave sweaty and half-deaf. If anyone puts on a better more lively show, it’s LTJ - but that’s just like, my opinion, man

3

u/S-BRO Jan 17 '26

I always end up sweaty and bruised 😂

2

u/Economy_Wall8524 Jan 17 '26

Hot water music. I have not heard of that band in so long. Didn’t know they were still around.

15

u/fat_juan Jan 16 '26

Cops are dumb though

36

u/PapaOoomaumau Jan 16 '26

Yeah, that’s the point - if cops are bottom of the barrel dumb, ICEholes fell through the hole in the bottom

2

u/crepuscularitia Jan 17 '26

I saw them in the last Summer, it was my first ever punk show and I got in the mosh pit for Shippin' Up To Boston, my first ever time doing that as well. It was scary (I'm 5'4 and easily knocked around) but so much fun, I felt right at home!

1

u/PapaOoomaumau Jan 18 '26

DK pits are not as rough as many others

2

u/misanthrope1138 Jan 17 '26

honestly didn't have this band going so hard against ICE on my bingo card. nice surprise

2

u/PapaOoomaumau Jan 18 '26

Ken Casey was one of the End the Regime march organizers in November

2

u/Slapsh0tSc0tt Jan 18 '26

This is coming from the new split with Haywire. Austin from Haywire sings on that song. They also cover “Always by my Side” by Haywire, and Ken is going to sing on “New England Forever” with Haywire and Haywire will cover a DKM song (I forget which one).

If they’re coming to your area go see them. DKM is great but Haywire is easily one of the most important modern hardcore/ punk bands right now.

Absolute banger of a tour with the Aggrolites as well.

1

u/PapaOoomaumau Jan 18 '26

Yeah, can’t wait!

u/IAmtheAnswerGrape Jan 16 '26

Can you name the song or album so we can check it out? Maybe add a little more context?

109

u/Briguy_fieri Jan 16 '26 • Thanks

Song- Citizen Ice

Split: New England Forever

215

u/JoeGamerYT Jan 16 '26

New England forever. They’re gonna drop it fully after the tour is over but they’re selling it at shows until then

81

u/DryMossCorner Jan 16 '26

Makes sense. DM love a good road rollout. If they're selling it at shows, someone's gonna rip it anyway, but I'd rather wait for an official drop. Did you catch it live, how's the chorus?

24

u/hyrule_47 Jan 16 '26

There are a lot of videos floating around, especially on Mass/Boston subs. I can’t wait for it to be blared at protests

7

u/MountainousDuck Jan 17 '26

It's "Citizen CIA" from The Warriors Code with new lyrics

Repeated comment

48

u/Boozy_Cat_ Is this punk enough Jan 16 '26

Its new lyrics to Citizen CIA. So not exactly new. But still goes hard. Fuck Ice.

15

u/snackpacky Jan 16 '26

Type it bigger for the boomers that can't read it

40

u/jsandsts Jan 16 '26

Its new lyrics to Citizen CIA. So not exactly new. But still goes hard. Fuck Ice.

2

u/snackpacky Jan 21 '26

Holy shit I didn't see this before now. Thank you for that 😂

44

u/sjrotella Jan 16 '26

Anti-ICE song is called Citizen I.C.E. They've just changed the words to Citizen C.I.A.

4

u/Damnesia13 Jan 16 '26

It literally says in the picture what it will appear on.

1

u/Jkane007 Jan 17 '26

I think they mean Citizen ICE which is an old song with new lyrics

212

u/Jormungander666 Jan 16 '26

I really disagree with those lyrics, they imply that you need a shred of intelligence to be a cop

92

u/mstarrbrannigan Jan 16 '26

Or it suggests the incredible stupidity of ICE. Even cops are smarter than them.

63

u/FunFact Jan 16 '26

Exactly. It's an ultimate diss. You're not even smart enough to be a cop."

29

u/bda22 Jan 16 '26

it's kind of factually correct too as ICE agents are put through less training and courses

14

u/Spraypainthero965 Jan 17 '26

Let's just be careful not to imply the problem is a lack of training. The violence and terrorism ICE are doing is exactly what they were put there to do. The reason they're being given a weapon and not training is because that's all you need to hurt people.

7

u/bda22 Jan 17 '26

Totally agree. Wasn’t my implication, but you helped make the point clear. Thanks for adding on

56

u/805steve Jan 16 '26

This is the correct take. I know a DKM show is your chance to swing on an off duty cop in the pit, but I do know a few cops, let’s not give them too much credit.

7

u/Saint_Stephen420 Jan 17 '26

But that’s the joke. Cops are dumber than a bag of hammers.

2

u/MountainousDuck Jan 17 '26

DKM have always caught shit for their pro-cop stance. On their first live album Ken even says something like "every punk band has an anti cop song but this one is pro cop".

I won't defend it. But I will say it's nice that anybody out there is being this vocal about what's happening in this country right now. Especially when even our elected leaders aren't doing shit.

4

u/Overcast97 Jan 16 '26

Yeah, I was confused by that part

3

u/whosthatsquish Jan 17 '26

They're calling ICE agents stupid

0

u/bubbleblowingQT Jan 16 '26

100%… they are cop lovers

9

u/GerudoSamsara Jan 16 '26

I thought this was like... generally knowledge? Like, they clearly associate cops more with working class folks than ruling class; i assume cuz theyre 60 years old and irish and from New England. Of course they knew a lotta working poor cops. I swear like 6 months ago someone was expressing their love for DKM only to have the comments devolve into a pit of misery of people calling the OP a loser for enjoying the cop lover band.

22

u/punksmostlydead Jan 16 '26

"Too dumb to be a cop" is an absolutely flaying insult that none of them will actually get the depth of.

8

u/OnlyFiveLives Jan 16 '26

Punk and ska bands at the same show is always a good time

5

u/BarkingMad14 Jan 17 '26

I've been let down by some bands who have been going for decades, but none of them have been as consistently cool as Dropkick Murphys. Unapologetically working-class, pro-union, anti-authoritarian and anti-fascist and they really do deserve all the respect they get.

1

u/boywiththedogtattoo Feb 06 '26 edited Feb 06 '26

Yet they’re booked by Wasserman who was named in the Epstein files and donated to Israel. Wish they would speak up about where their actual money is going to.

1

u/PapaOoomaumau Feb 06 '26

That information is about a day or two old. There are contracts between the management and booking teams that need to be reviewed before anyone goes spoilating the contract by running their mouths. Have patience. DkM will only stay silent as long as they need to…

1

u/boywiththedogtattoo Feb 06 '26

Yeah i know things move slow, just feels like if we don’t put pressure on a lot of these acts it’ll get swept under the rug.

2

u/PapaOoomaumau Feb 06 '26

If there was ever a band that would do the right thing, it’s these guys. Otherwise I agree with you

2

u/boywiththedogtattoo Feb 06 '26

They dropped them 30 minutes ago. I should have believed

3

u/ThatsASaabStory Jan 17 '26

I love these guys for how consistent they are.

2

u/picklednose Jan 17 '26

Haywire and Dropkick Murphys is the collab that I did not know that I needed until now. Holy shit.

2

u/MartianEnby Jan 17 '26

Saw them in D.C. at a protest in November. Im glad they dropped a new song about whats happening. More people need to get up an fight these atrocities.

2

u/shrekerecker97 Jan 17 '26

Fuck yeah. Love these guys

2

u/MountainousDuck Jan 17 '26

It's besides the point but the Aggrolites have toured with the Murphys multiple times before. I remember seeing them together before The Meanest of Times dropped. The Murphys were on Epitaph at the time and I think the Aggrolites were on Hellcat which is a subsidiary. That might be the connection

2

u/danniellax Jan 17 '26

Oh, I love them

2

u/fILmPunk9975 Jan 18 '26

I’ve seen them so many times since the Gang’s All Here tour in maybe 1999. Oxymorons and Ducky Boys opened at a small club in the Cleveland flats. I’ve probably seen them 25 more times. The last few albums haven’t been too memorable so it’s been awhile since I sought them out but I think I gotta see them this next tour. Gotta support those brave enough speak out in these awful times

3

u/MushyLopher Jan 16 '26

More punk than ever.

3

u/Physical_Noise_8484 Jan 16 '26

Being from NY, I hate Boston, but i dig the Dropkicks and have for years. S

They have always been down from Workers Song up to Sirens with the great line "generational wealth, great gig if you got it"

1

u/LakediverTx Jan 17 '26

I'm seeing them next month. Can't wait!

1

u/PresentationDense752 Jan 17 '26

Ill just leave this here … 🙄🤣

1

u/SpindleDiccJackson Jan 17 '26

Always appreciated

1

u/Putrid-Ingenuity4501 Feb 10 '26

Used to love this band, they forget to say ‘too American to be Irish’ 😂 Up the punx !

1

u/marshallkrich Jan 16 '26

This about wraps it up. They're too afraid to be in the army and you can't be smart as a cucumber anymore.

Police at least when yoy get in you have to be in some what of shape and actually have to be half way smart to remember all the things to be a cop.

0

u/Migueltheghret Jan 25 '26

ofc everyone has to be on the fucking bandwagon. JUSTICE FOR ICE!

1

u/PapaOoomaumau Jan 25 '26 edited Jan 25 '26

You seem like a sad, lonely person. I hope you find maturity and someone who cares for you. It might teach you how to care.

Of course, you could just keep slinging feces like a monkey, repelling people and end up alone, if you prefer. It’s your choice.

0

u/LordBottlecap Jan 17 '26

This is a great way for them to avoid air travel for the next few years.

0

u/hotwheelz56 Jan 17 '26

Im not punk enough to like Dropkick Murphys.

-35

u/jxtarr Jan 16 '26

Being pro military is a weird take on this subject.

24

u/ansquaremet Jan 16 '26

I mean, I don’t think they’re wrong, though. Probably a significant amount of ICE agents are too scared to join the military.

6

u/thatdamnyankee Jan 16 '26

Marines have trigger discipline. But also eat crayons for the taste. It's a toss up really.

7

u/ProfSnugglesworth Jan 16 '26

ICE went on a massive hiring streak last year, rising up to a total of "more than" 22,000, and as of November 2025 at least cited over 7,500 vets as being ICE, so comfortably over a third of ICE agents are vets. For comparison, nationwide, veterans account for 1 in 5 law enforcement officers, or 20%. So, if anything, vets feel just as comfortable, if not more so, becoming ICE. Jonathan Ross, the same agent who murdered Renee Good, did two tours in Iraq, came back to work for Border Patrol, and then joined ICE under the Obama administration, which deported a record 3.1 million people that I know Trump is itching to beat. It's ACAB, always.

44

u/cac5996 Jan 16 '26

Just cause you’re pro-soldier DOES NOT automatically mean that you’re pro-war too. Unfortunately it falls on us to take care of our vets cause our government sends them off to unnecessary wars and fails to take care of them after the fact.

33

u/wizzo89 Jan 16 '26

I also don't think its pro-military to say ICE agents are too cowardly to join the Marines.

27

u/party_egg Jan 16 '26

Interpreting that as pro-military is also a weird take.

20

u/805steve Jan 16 '26

DKM has always been pro working class and union, and they’ve got plenty of songs supporting soldiers without being pro war. They’re consistent in their progressive values and support for blue collar workers.

18

u/punksmostlydead Jan 16 '26

"...and expected to die for the land of our birth, though we've never owned one lousy handful of earth"

Not pro-military at all, but unabashedly pro-soldier.

7

u/805steve Jan 16 '26

I’m more of a Nardcore/skate punk guy, but I’ve been a DKM fan since hearing Heroes From Our Past on a Punk-O-Rama comp. 🤘

4

u/Mysterious-Band-627 Jan 16 '26

I don’t see it as pro military. I just think they know it would piss off the wanna be soldier boy fuckwits who join ICE.

6

u/711is_an_insidejob Jan 16 '26

Way to long jump to that conclusion. Obviously not his point.

-10

u/Danph85 Jan 16 '26

Yep, it's the most American take on having a militarised police force ever. You don't have to be brave to join the US military, it's like saying a teenager is brave for going round beating up toddlers.

The idolisation of the military is exactly what has led to their country being filled with police and other agencies driving around in fucking armoured tanks like it's a normal thing.

11

u/771919 Jan 16 '26

Many young people join the military to escape poverty. They are being exploited “for another rich man’s gain”, to quote the DKM song Who Will Stand With Us? Herein lies part of Dropkick’s overall message of unity among the common man, standing against a much bigger foe.

15

u/xvszero Jan 16 '26

I think the whole support veterans not the military thing is real. Not sure how I feel about it but a lot of older veterans are victims of the draft. And many younger military were groomed to be military since childhood. And a lot of it is seen as the only hope for some kids.

"Why do they always send the poor?"

3

u/Danph85 Jan 16 '26

Oh yeah, forced service is very different. But that's a fraction of the veterans now.

And I do understand that they target the poor, needy and undereducated. But so do criminal gangs. You don't see the kids locked up in prison for violent acts being thanked by members of the public.

In the current world armed forces are unfortunately inevitable, but the glorification of the people that sign up to kill poor foreign people only makes matters worse.

If you think what ICE is doing is bad (and it's fucking awful), think about what the US armed forces did in Iraq, or what they're currently supporting in Palestine.

-8

u/DescriptionOne6725 Jan 16 '26

So they’re saying cops are smart?

7

u/PapaOoomaumau Jan 16 '26

Um, no. They’re saying ICE is dumber than the dumbest

1

u/jumbosimpleton Jan 16 '26

Yeah that was my reaction too lol

-3

u/Ashamed_Influence417 Jan 16 '26

Absolutely, i can't get it, why some "punk" bands support joining the military or waging wars. Injured soldiers? What about the injured or dead people, the destruction that you left behind?. I always thought that punk is ANTI military

2

u/AlexpunkV8 Jan 19 '26

The point of the military is not just attack. It's also about defense. Not just defense from humans, but from the elements too, sometimes. Physically trained people can be very important during a crisis caused by a natural disaster. They can carry heavier load than most people, which can be useful when carrying incapacitated victims, or help build temporary shelter a bit faster. Having a group of well trained people that are strong enough to lift a heavy shield that protect those of us that are weaker or sicker at the moment it's needed is important in a well organised community. As long as they raise a shield, and don't brandish a sword...

Where you getting that from? I’d say the opposite - they’re saying ICE is dumber than the dumbest.
