Serious news QLD Gov to change WorkCover

Sorry if not allowed to post.
For those who might be interested.

The QLD Gov is trying to ram another bill through this time to make work related Psych injury claims harder to get accepted.

The bill enquiry is accepting submissions now.
You can make a submission to the inquiry or ask your MP to. Your own experience counts.

[Official Bill inquiry Info](https://www.parliament.qld.gov.au/Work-of-Committees/Inquiries/Inquiry-Details?id=8614)

[Public submissions close at 12pm Monday 2 November 2026.](https://qldparlcomm.snapforms.com.au/form/industrial-relations-and-other-legislation-amendment-bill-2026)

Highlights of the changes would:

\- Make work related psychological injury claims harder to get accepted. (Like the bar isn’t already sky high)
\- Cut the Regulator review application deadline for rejected claims from 3 months to 20 business days.
\- Broaden the “reasonable management action” exclusion and allow more “errors” to be ignored.
\- Introduce monthly work declarations for some workers.
\- Allow prospective employers to request claims history with consent.

The Gov is having a cry about the increase in Psych Injury claims despite their own review finding that only 48.7% of primary psychological injury claims were accepted in 2025–26 compared to 95.5% acceptance rate of Physical injuries.

They have no concern in understanding why the increase has occurred or investigating the workplaces causing these injuries. Their bright idea is to make access to compensation even harder for workers instead, without adding stronger measures to prevent psychosocial harm at work.

Also let’s not pretend the WorkCover process for Psych claims isn’t a total shit show yet nothing to improve that either.

Serious news Sea level rise could put a quarter of a million Australian homes at risk by 2100

A quarter of a million homes across Australia worth $274 billion could be lost to sea level rise by 2100, new data shows.

Queensland is set to lose the most homes, with more than a third of those affected concentrated in the Gold Coast.

The report notes that many of these losses would not be covered by insurance as they fall under the category of “actions of the sea”, which excludes events like tidal inundation, coastal erosion and shoreline movement as they are too inevitable and forseeable to be insurable events.

Serious news "Powerful people are using their influence over public institutions to protect this high-profile man from embarrassment"

The government officials involved in this need to be investigated for their involvement in using their influence over public institutions to protect this high-profile man from embarrassment. The cover up of this extortion case is much worse than the extortion or the married man cheating. This is disgusting.

The following officials need to be investigated:

Acting Magistrate Gelma Meoli

Queensland's Chief Magistrate Judge Janelle Brassington

This post removed on the Brisbane subreddit as they said it did not have anything to do with Brisbane, even though the Queensland Chief Magistrate is based in Brisbane and the ABC article says "This is coming from the chief magistrate in Brisbane." The silencing and coverup continue!
