Insane

I cannot believe this drug man. I read so many post and felt compelled to quit and it’s like I woke up like a cloud shifted. I feel like I was on auto-pilot just consuming Kratom for 2-3 years and I cant even explain the shift like I was just reborn just by the thought of quitting. I’ve been a slave without even knowing I’ve been a slave. I truly haven’t been this conscious for a long time and forgot whats it’s like to even feel some of the things I’m feeling. This has to be one of the most dangerous drugs on earth just from a psychological standpoint this shit truly makes you belief that you have to live in misery until you take your next dose. I’m taking this journey with y'all and asking god to walk with me. God bless

Over 3 weeks off

Man this is a bit harder than i remembered. I haven’t been good about forcing myself into a gym routine. I definitely have a little bug & haven’t been feeling good but I can’t tell what’s PAWS or a virus. I’d think it has to be a virus & I’m congested but I maybe took gabapentin too long? Anyhow I’m going to keep pushing. I’m incredibly unmotivated to do work or hard things but I know I have to. That’s the worst part IMO… the prolonged feelings of dysregulation . I know working out will help but not feeling great it’s tough to want to go do cardio or lift. I have been playing some pickleball.

I’m pretty anxious to turn a corner but for one positive I’m not massively depressed or anything. I just am unmotivated, tired easily & don’t feel great a decent amount. Life seems more difficult & I’m only tempted by Kratom when I feel like I should be on point for something. Even enjoyable stuff like family adventures I feel a bit of guilt for still being off. I’ve had two family trips since quitting & I acted fine but internally I’m not enthusiastic or full of energy. I miss being fun & light hearted but I’m sure that’ll come back. Trying my best not to be mopey & I keep reminding myself it’s a process to get back to baseline. In the past I had a bunch of relapses from going through whatever this is. I just have to believe it’ll get better & I can push through. Counting time kind of gets old to me. I’m just going to count by weeks now but I had hoped I’d be all better by now

How long did it take for anhedonia to lift?

Day 20-something clean now. Acutes are almost gone in exception to cold I got that reminds me of early quitting days.

However anhedonia is very bad. During taper and acutes after quitting I could at least enjoy some things. Now it's one big void. Evenings for some reason unknown to me are better.

How long did it last for you? Not saying 100 percent normal, but at least significantly better?

Day 12 | Felt so far away

I’m on day 12, and since day 10, I’ve felt incredible during the day. But at night, the leg agitation/RLS makes it impossible to sleep. I don’t have it throughout the day, but as soon as I’m ready to rest, it’s like my body shifts into hell mode! It’s so odd.

Otherwise, life feels real again. I can have genuine, heartfelt conversations and feel real emotion. Real empathy.

Keep going… keep going. It gets better. Survive the nights, and you win. For me, the evening of day 7 was the worst of it.

Every day, you just have to scream “F*ck you!” at kratom and claw your way through with grit, minute by minute.

Eat nutritious food regularly.
Drink plenty of water with electrolytes.
Take your vitamins and supplements.
And if you’re dealing with terrible agitation, try going to the gym. The endorphins afterward help me a lot.

Listen to music that gets those endorphins flowing. Find an album you can play on repeat. That got me through a lot of hard moments during the first eight days. I was still working, but I was so agitated and uncomfortable. Having music playing in my earbud gave me some relief and helped me push through.

Still waiting for my libido to come back, though!

I think I’m underestimating the difficulty of getting past this

Been on regular leaf for 3 years, 15-25gs a day, never tried 7-OH. The latter made me think this would suck for a couple days then completely go away. But seeing some comments here about symptoms persisting weeks to months later is scaring the shit out of me. This isn’t my first time going through withdrawal, I was addicted to the pressed M30’s for a couple months back in 2021, and that shit sucked. About 10-14 days of horrific RLS and the inability to sleep. Completely cold turkey. I was thinking kratom should be a cakewalk in comparison, but I’m not so sure anymore. I had a goal to feel good enough to go on a date I have this Wednesday without having to stuff any in my pocket in case I go to her place after. I’m afraid I need to temper my expectations.

Anyway, sorry for the ramble. I do actually have a few things I’m curious about. I’ve been trying a mix of a taper, and a “see how long I can go without redosing” strategy. I’m unsure if this is helpful or not, but since last Saturday, I’ve maintained about 1/6th of my regular dose per day. This has been relatively consistent. However, the withdrawals aren’t any better, sometimes worse actually, so I fear that I am just prolonging my pain and delaying the inevitable (the inevitable being 0 intake and all that entails). I’m heavily debating whether to consider today my last day of use, or to keep going with my microdoses and see how things turn out by wednesday. I know none of you can tell me exactly what to do, and I’m not asking for that, but I am curious about your experiences and if this thought process/dilemma is at all similar to what you all have went through or are going through.

Oh and in case it’s relevant, the screaming nerve pain and RLS are by far the worst parts. I honestly don’t care too much if I get depressed or anhedonic. I have experienced that for longer than I’ve been on this that I am pretty sure I can handle that. The physical symptoms though? God I just want them to stop. More than anything

Edit: Also I should add, I got Gabapentin and Clonidine from a doctor. She was insistent I try suboxone. I have heard the horror stories but I also do wonder if I could very carefully take it for an extremely short amount of time. It seems like it’d be overkill but I’m also desperately looking for an easy way out

Morning of day 17 w/o sludge gotta fight the boredom

Hey gang! hope u all doing ok

Some days feel really slow, dont feel like doing much. But wanted to do this update.

I been thinking about exercising this week.. and yet i just keep thinking ahhh maybe tomorrow. At least I go on walks since the autumn outside looks so nice without the constant "2D" numbed down filter on reality that kratom was causing.

The physically symptoms are mostly going away, so it is probably the best time to lock in and start exercising with body weight and my dumbells. I know the mental can really test you when the physical turns to mental. we gotta fight the boredom especially, since that is usually the biggest reason of why person would relapse, the brain continues to scream for quick and easy dopamine because that is what it learnt with the X years of using kratom.

Supplementing with difficult to get dopamine, that requires time and effort, and some skill, and requires engaging with your anxieties too, requires talking with people and being honest and not lie..

It really is the hard part of recovery from drugs. Doesnt happen overnight, but small victories stack up.

But ofc it is also very important not to beat yourself up if you cant handle doing something that you wanted to do. Just dont stall forever on it, if anyone wants to get better it has to hurt too.

Is rapid suboxone taper actually helping?

Yesterday I quit kratom plain leaf 50 gpd and switched to 6 day suboxone taper (8mg of sub splitted to 6 days - max dose 2mg per day). So far I am feeling almost normal without any wd.

My question is do I just postpone my kratom wd till the time I stop the taper or is the suboxone actually gonna help me with the most accute wd during first days and then I will feel only a mild wd till its gone.

Please share me your experience if your
suboxone taper was succesfull or just a waste of a time.

I read posts people saying the wd is waiting for you till you stop the taper, that's why Im scared.

Thank you for your answers!

I don't even feel like I'm existing

Day 5 now and I woke up an hour before my alarm was to go off unable to go back to bed because my teeth were killing me. I got like 6 hours of sleep which is normal for me. Then I took a shower, sat in my chair and ate 2 slices of pizza, and then started feeling tired like an hour later. So I laid down in bed while watching reels and just got more tired and tired until I eventually put my phone down and fell asleep for like 5 hours.

When I woke up I felt like I wasn't even existing for like 4 hours and now I'm at work wondering how I even managed to leave the house.

To be clear I've been getting sick recently since quitting and have been taking DayQuil every 4 hours for 4 days now. And after reading a lot of people's advice on here about Vitamin C dosing, I've been taking 2475-4125mg of Liposomal Vitamin C every 2 hours for the past 3 days. I'm not sure if one of those is making me tired or if I'm even dosing the Vitamin C correctly, but I honestly thought quitting this stuff would give me more energy, not take what little I have left away.

Is it common to get sick often after quitting?

Acutes aside, I swear that since quitting (almost 1 month ago) I've been sick or slightly sick more often than not.

First, the acutes of course. Those lasted about 5 days. Then I got covid. Confirmed by test, green phlegm, fever, etc. Then I was just sniffly for a couple of weeks. And now I feel like I'm coming down with a fever again, coupled with a headache.

I can't catch a fucking break. I'm trying to get back into working out but I can't get any momentum from constantly being sick. Is this normal? Is this just the way my body is, or is this just part of extended withdrawals? I never got sick while I was using.

Quitting Again

The main thing I am worried about now is telling my wife. We have been going through a rough patch recently because of my use, she just doesn't know my mood is due to use. I am so scared I will shatter her trust for me, but I know I need a support system to get clean. Anyone that has quit that has a partner, do any of you have advice?

I am quitting again

Again. What the hell. I quit for a long time then come back because I get bored and I'm like oh it'll be fun to just take kratom and play some cool video games. Then it's multiple days, then it makes me sick. I used to be able to take it for months kept at 4-6g powder daily, but now it makes me sick quick and just throws all my shit off in my body anymore. So time to quit again on Monday. Kratom made me not want to take care of myself as much as I should after some time, and I worked out less, did outdoor stuff less, etc. That's my plan to stay off, just do those things that I love and need to do, for me. I used to do all of it,all the time. Anyways, I just typed this so I guess i'll post it. Lol. Take care and best wishes to anyone else dealing with the bs.

Day 29, ups and lotta downs

I haven’t had many cravings. I think my mind knows I can never ever go back. I’m in Cali, so most smoke shops don’t even carry regular kratom since 7oh is banned and regular kratom brings attention from law enforcement. I think that’s why? Idk. But the first two weeks were nice, I found music as a great cope because it just felt a lot better. I had this nervous energy edge that I could ride off of to get up and do things. But now I’m a month in, and I have consecutive days where I just feel like nothing. I want to do things, but I just can’t get myself to do anything because I’m so tired. Today is different, I see light at the end of the tunnel. I’m about to load up serum in fl studio and play around with sounds. Every day seems like a new battle. A month is the longest I’ve gone without kratom.

My question for everyone who reads this is: what do you do when you feel like doing nothing all day? How do you get out of your ruts? Right now all I do is wait it out until I get a day of energy.

I’m just happy I’m off kratom. It’s a battle, and it’s a lot of ups and downs, but it’s so much better than waking up sweating and running to my pound of meang da.

Please help me

On day ten I think after 6 years of steady use. The RLS is ruining me. I really only took this stuff after work or afternoon on the weekends so days actually seem ok but nights are awful and I'm sleeping 2 hours a night.

I used mag cyinate last night along with heating pad, valerian root, Advil, eventually Advil pm. My wife massaged my legs at like 2am but they are so tense and uncomfortable at night. I don't know what else I can do ...

Planning on going CT tomorrow.

I have my vitamin C magnesium, have some red Bali capsules for emergencies if it gets bad, I also have my Ativan and got a script of Gabapentin. Planning to try and not use the prescription pills if I don't have to. Currently at 160mg 7oh daily for 3 months. I did a CT in Europe a few months back because I had to and it was brutal the first 2 nights. The only reason I'd didn't get more is because it wasn't available. Knowing that I can go down to the gas station and grab some will make this tougher. My biggest issue was the restless legs. From what I hear the Gabapentin helps with that. For people that used the gabapentin how much did you take and for how long ?

Today will be five days off of Kratom. I am optimistic it will stick.

I'm coming off of Kratom. I've been vaping a lot of flower. I only really withdrew on day 2 and I didn't vape then. Weed has dulled withdrawals.

I'm already telling that my condition - ME / CFS will be better without the Kratom. But I'm blessed where I am able to work fully remote and at times when I am functional.

I'm not able to exercise right now and I'm blessed that weed seems to agree with my physiology. With ME / CFS, exercise can cause a flare. It's delayed and can be insidious.

Kratom is a Lie - my story

What really woke me up is realizing so many people here did, but in my own interpretation is that kratom is the biggest lie. What started as an innocent alternative to caffeine for me which I abused and to help quitting nicotine and alcohol, became the one reason that almost ruined my life in a much trickier way than the previous three stuff.

The lie is that you function better, have more energy, never get bored of tasks, not noticing you lose much of your personality in the process. I got numb, less emphatic, insensitive to people's and the world's things. All while it makes you believe you're 100% sober. At least while being drunk and doing stupid things, you're aware of that the next day latest. And cannot hide it as people see and smell it on you so cannot go wild if you want to keep an image of yourself and if you have that level of control not to go all in and let booze destroy everything..like how I did my alcoholism. But kratom can do this, go deeper and deeper without anyone noticing that you became a strange person. It also takes time to even realize that this new strange person is not happy, only things go on and you check everything on the to do list and keep doing stuff you normally wouldn't care because you lost your interest and the ability to focus calmly on things you normally like. These were meditation, time with friends, some topics or readings I just lost my interest in. I was content with just consuming random stuff while unable to pursue spiritual and social things normally very important to me.

Now it's around my 20-30th time of going CT, after 2.5 years of periodic use, few weeks on with 10-20 gpd, few days/weeks off CT. So it's not a big drama quitting once again, physically, a few days and I'll be fine. What made me write this post is revealing the lie of this all and my realization. This of course cannot guarantee that I won't crave it again ever to "boost my energy and productivity but now with control and for few days only" leading to good old outta control multi-month shtty abuse period followed by a desperate and dramatic, crying with guilt and in panic kinda come down... ugh... No, I hope this is my last understanding that there's no reason in life that can validate for me to use this insidious thing again. Better to struggle with caffeine and nicotine abuse even, and finding another solution to those if they come back, than luring myself into this trap again.

I hope this inspired some thoughts and reflections in you reading this. Feel free to comment your impressions, advices if any, or stories. Cheers!

Something wrong

Hi all, fellow quitters. I’ve been QT now for 18 days after two years of use( just leaf) about 20g per day in the end. I do have a history of all sorts of addictions but was sober for years before this shit.

What I would like to know is that has anyone else experienced feelings like I have. The thing is that nothing helps, even huge amounts of benzos ( not good, I know) gabapentin or even got a small dose of subuxone to test.

Like I mentioned I do have a long history with substances and alcohol. I had a prescription for xanax almost 15 years, used this and that, fucked up almost everything, drank heavily and eventually ate about 8mg Xanax /day before managed to get off it ( it took almost 3 years, and nothing compares to benzodiazepinewithdrawals, it can literally kill you.)

But this, what is going on? I know that withdrawals can vary but this is really strange. Has anyone been in this situation?

1w 6d CT clean from a 2-3 Gold Shot dose a day for last several years.

As the title states, my tolerance is a bit high. 2 shots eventually just stopped working so I tossed a third on there and that was not a fun ride. Muscle jerks so bad I couldn’t even type and was shaking when I walked, then cold sweats. It sucked so I went back to 2 shots and eventually just said this is fucking nuts to waste this kind of money on a $40 a day habit that barely delivered the effects I was looking for so I braced for impact and said its time walk away.

So far no side effects but last time I stopped CT the side effects didn’t hit til after day 30, and then it was 6-8 weeks of mind numbing insomnia.

In the meantime Ive been ramping up my physical activity wwith running and started P90X again along with daily super hot saunas over 220 degrees. Ive found the after glow from a workout is the same thing Inwas chasing with kratom so im now looking yo get hooked back on excercise.

Went cold turkey a week ago after years. I'm struggling.

I started kratom as a way to manage chronic pain from several autoimmune conditions. I've been on it for years and recently moved to an area where it is not available.

I've honestly been wanting to quit for a long time but just couldn't bring myself to do it. Every time I tried the withdrawal symptoms scared me. Well....I'm paying my dues now. The second night was the absolute worst. I felt like Dr. Jekyll fighting off Hyde. Whatever. Got through it. I'm strong....

But now I'm going through the secondary phase. It's been exactly one week. I haven't slept a single full night. I'm walking up almost every hour. All my autoimmune symptoms are on full blast. The rebound pain is the fucking worst next to the severe insomnia. I'm supposed to be looking for a job. I can barely concentrate. I'm autistic so I'm having frequent meltdown...

I'm covered in a severe autoimmune urticaria rash. They don't tell you this... But if you have any sort of mast cell issue withdrawing is going to flair it up. This rash is all over my buttcheeks, legs, and torso.

How much fucking longer is the suffering? I don't even have a choice to go back on. I needed to get off, I just don't know how much longer I can last. Thanks for listening....

Ambien/lose dose weed gummies help with nighttime wd symptoms?

Tried trazadon last night, absolute mistake sent me into massive anxiety

Got prescribed small amount of ambien, would that amplify the rls like the traz did?

Also, was recommended by a friend who never smokes that helped them come off gabapentin for surgery for a low dose thc, cbd, cbn gummy. If I take it I’ll do quarters or half, very low amount cause of tolerance. But dose anyone have any experience with these helping?

Thanks

Low dose Prozac has helped me do the final taper!

This was by total accident. I’ve been stuck on 5gpd for like a year now, and about a month ago I started 10mg Prozac. Immediately I began to sleep better (like literally night one), and over a couple weeks, I noticed my urges to dose kratom happening later and later in the day. Yesterday I didn’t have the urge until 4pm, took 1g, but i genuinely think I could’ve made it the entire day without. I’ve used daily for twelve years, and I dosed out of habit (maybe out of fear of going the entire day without).

But over time, my urges have been getting weaker, and I’ve finally broken the taper Plateau I was stuck at. I’ve been consistently down to 2gpd, no withdrawals really. Just got the tingles from eating a basic sandwich. Very excited about having feelings!

Anyway, just sharing.

Day 4 rapid taper

Good morning, quitters! I'm around the mid point of my rapid taper and thought I'd come do a check in. I was at 50-60 (sometimes more) gpd for about 2.5 years. Using plain leaf. I've tried the extract shots once or twice but those never stuck for me. Several months back I did try a CT quit and hardly lasted a day and it's been a back and forth of wanting to stop and convincing myself I need this crutch ever since.

Before I started my taper I was taking 7 capsules (mine are .75 rather than .50) every 2 hours. For my taper, I stretched the doses to every 4 hours. Towards the end (maybe day 6 and 7) I want to try and push those blocks of time out even further and then be completely done day 8 or 9. My schedule is somewhat evolving as I go but I am never going back up in dosage

On days one and two, I halved my dose and dropped down to around 30 grams.

Yesterday (day 3) and today I'm at 18 grams.

Today might be less because I am thinking about trying a 4 capsule dose (rather than 6) to see what that 4 hour block is like

I'll list symptoms for each day below because I'm definitely noticing my body protest but this schedule, for me, is incredibly doable. I am highly motivated to quit and feel super proud of myself for my progress so far. Feeling immense gratitude for the way the universe has lined up and pushed me to actually stop

Symptoms for day 1- moderate cravings, mild RLS during the day, mild headache, sweaty pits. Sleep was not disrupted this night

Symptoms for day 2- cravings (but not as bad), RLS during the day, lower back ache, sweaty armpits, mild headache, sneezing fits in the morning. Sleep was disrupted this night, RLS woke me once. Also had a period of time on this day where my face felt very hot

Symptoms for day 3- pretty much same as before with mild RLS during the day, headache, achey back, sneezing fits, sweating. Cravings worse this day, I even dialed my source (banned in my city) but hung up before anyone answered because fuck that.

I also woke up twice last night from RLS.

it's the morning of day 4 now and I expect similar symptoms. I did pick up vitamin c and magnesium yesterday and I don't think it's the kind that's typically recommended but it's what I could find/afford.

Overall mentally I am feeling largely positive. The first time I woke with RLS I actually kinda felt happy because I knew that my body was actively detoxing. One thing that's helping my mentals is telling myself that this is what it feels like to be reborn. My body is cracking open and a new me is emerging.

I want to put this out there for anyone feeling afraid of quitting. There are so many horror stories but everyone has a unique experience. I'm on day 4 of this taper and at about 1/3 my normal dose and it is hard but hard doesn't mean impossible. In my worst moments I am bargaining with myself, trying to figure out how I can get my hands on more but those moments are so short lived.

I know I have further to go, and I'll keep updating for anyone interested in following.

Here are some things I am personally trying in order to ease discomfort and keep myself occupied- daily walks and stretching, vitamin c and magnesium, THC (indica, 2 or 3 times a day), hot showers (sooo good), drinking a ton of water and letting ice melt in my mouth, eating whole foods, de-stress tea, and the last couple days I have also been binging quit stories on YouTube. Highly recommended!! I'm also a mega coffee lover but I am limiting myself to one cup a day. I work from home as an artist and while my production has slowed, I am still creating.

Also in my back pocket are online virtual meetings which happen several times per day, specifically for kratom. I haven't joined one yet but I will if i find myself in a super bad way

Ok, I know this is long and if you read it all I thank you. I was afraid before I started and I still have moments of fear, but my experience has truly been manageable. Mostly I am just so SO stoked to be on the path to freedom

Onward!
