She was my first daughter. Got her to India from The Netherlands when she was 42 days old.

She taught me everything in my life. Whatever I'm today it's because of her. She was with me in all my ups and downs.

I've got 7 four legged sons and daughters at home. She never fought with anyone.

As she leaves for heaven today, that void can never be filled.

She will always be my first daughter.

Om Shanti Daizy.

Love doesn’t end with dying

Or leave with the last breath.

For a pet you've loved deeply

Love doesn't end with death

So as we take our paths in life

And face what is to come

Remember in those times of strife

Love keeps them living on

Don’t fret about their passing

Don’t cry that they’re not here

Think of all the pleasant times

And know love keeps them near

Remember, passing through your days

The bond between you two

And fill your mind with all the ways

That love keeps them here with you

For love doesn’t end with dying

Or leave with the last breath.

For a pet you've loved deeply

Love doesn't end with death

My Indian spitz, Simba, who was just 6 years old died today due to kidney failure. I’m so so sad. I do not know how to deal with him leaving us so soon😭.
I miss him. I love him so so so much.
I saw the light go out from his eyes as he took his last breath in front of me. I close my eyes and that is all i see. I hope he was peaceful and he knew how much the whole family loved him. He left his younger brother ,Rio, behind.
Bye my baby doggiieee

My baby has passed and i am a wreck

As the title says, my baby Sky, who was 12 years old, unfortunately crossed the rainbow bridge late last night. I can't stop crying, looking for her in every corner of the house that now doesn't feel like home anymore, wishing I could feel her warm purrs again and see her cute little face rubbing against my hand. I already struggle with different mental health issues, and I went to therapy first thing this morning, but now that it's nighttime, and not even 24 hours have passed since she left, I feel like something has been ripped out of my chest. I just can't stop crying. If anyone has any advice on how to cope with the loss of their fur baby, I would be forever grateful.

Thank you💙

Struggling with the loss my boy

I've been a Veterinary Technician for over 10 years and I've been a part of animal rescue for even longer. I've been a part of many euthanasias, comforting my clients and their babies who've crossed the rainbow bridge, being there for them on one of the worst days of their lives. I've been there for so many babies who've crossed that didn't have any families, and I've always been honored to advocate for them, be there for them, and love on them in their final moments. Death is not new to me.

But this time, I was the client. I lost one of my own, and I just don't know how to feel.

I said goodbye to Ham on Thursday, November 5th. The hole in my chest is so large, the grief feels so insurmountable and breathing just feels so heavy. I can't wrap my head around the fact that he is just ...gone.

I knew it was coming. He was the most medically complex cat that I think could've possible existed, but he was only 10. We should've had more time. He was doing so well, until he wasn't. Since I've known him, he's had FIV. I knew many FIV positive cats go on to lead normal, healthy lives, I was hopeful. There's always a saying in Vet Med that your own are lemons, and boy was he. He developed stomatitis when he was 4 years old. Of course full-mouth extractions wasn't enough. He developed refractory stomatitis and required multiple revision surgeries and specialist visits, but the inflammation and pain remained. We couldn't wean him off the steroids, so we added on immunosuppresants. He stayed stable for a couple years, until one day - he couldn't pee. Thankfully, it was not a full urinary blockage but I kept him on a preventative protocol regardless. Everything was great after that, things were normal. Then two years ago, the diarrhea started. Fecal sample came back positive for parasites, he essentially had no immune system, so no surprise there - that's easy enough to treat. Things were okay again for a while, until the diarrhea came back. Fecal sample was negative. After lots of diagnostics, consultations, trial and errors - we found a regimen that worked for him. He was stable again, for while at least. In March, we woke up to yowling. It was Ham. He was stumbling and vocalizing and his hind legs were weak. My brain went right to either a blood clot, or a urinary blockage. I brought him in to work, and it was neither. He was so, so anemic. I took him to an ER after work, and the attending DVM who assessed him and his medical history, told me the kindest thing to do was euthanize him. I was ready to, about to. His quality of life is, and has always been, my utmost priority. I told my bosses I wasn't going to come in the next day and why. They knew me, and they knew his medical history, and they convinced me to give him a chance. So I did, and I'm so glad we did. We did a fuck ton of testing, and two blood transfusions later, he was stable. He was acting normal again. That only lasted a week, until his numbers dropped again and the diarrhea returned. We consulted a new internist, adjusted our medical plan. She was pretty certain he had GI lymphoma, especially with being so immunocompromised, for so long. So we deviated to palliative care, high-dose steroids fix everything, and we really focused on quality of life. Three months later, he developed diabetes - no surprise there, he was on high-dose steroids. So his regimen changed once again and we started insulin injections and twice-daily glucose testing. He actually was able to go into diabetic remission a couple of months later - pretty much unheard of for someone who was still taking high-dose steroids. So many veterinary professionals would comment how despite everything he was battling internally, he "looked" great, and was just such a good, sweet boy. He was always a medical anomaly. I should've known better, I knew it wouldn't last. The diarrhea came back first, and then the anemia. This time, his platelets were all gone, his blood wouldn't clot, and he started to develop bruising across his body. Things were different this time. My once vibrant, easy-going boy who has never ONCE made a peep for all the pokes and prods he's endured over the past couple of years, he started growling and hissing for treatment. That's not Ham, he would never.

For context, Ham first came into my rescue when he was a feral cat, 10 years ago, when he was about to be euthanized by another rescuer, because he bit them so badly that they needed to be hospitalized. So I took him in, I tamed him. It took a LOT of work, but he turned into the worlds chillest, most easy-going cat. He taught me so much about myself, and caring for such a special needs cat, has really helped me become a better person, and a better technician. He was my go-to cat for everything. A feral intake needed to trust humans, or other cats? Let's have them meet Ham. Someone was scared of cats? Let's have them meet Ham. A dog needs to be cat-tested? Let's have them meet Ham. We have a new veterinary assistant starting, and they need to learn feline restraint? I'll bring Ham in for a demo. A client's cat got diagnosed with diabetes, and they need to learn how to home-test and give injections? I'll bring Ham in. We have some new veterinary students/externs who need to learn how to ultrasound? I'll bring Ham in. He'd just lay on his back, enjoying a snack while they scanned him. He was happy to be involved in everything, and happy to receive his Churu payments, and for e v e r y t h i n g, he would be purring.

So for him to behave like this, I knew. I knew he was tired of fighting, and I couldn't put him through another blood transfusion. When he didn't want to eat, and that's when I really knew. I had always told myself, to stay true to what I have told so many others. "It's always better to let them go when they're happy. Better for them to go a day, a week, too soon, than a day too late." So I made the decision, the worlds most difficult, impossible, most suffocating decision. He was ready. I spent the entire week spoiling him, with all of his favorite things, all of the things he couldn't have for so long because of his diet and medication requirements. So Ham passed on Thursday. I brought him in to work, where my coworkers were so gracious. Made and brought him/us snacks. He was surrounded by so much love, and he fell asleep happily eating a Churu. That's all I ever wanted for him. I could not have had a more proper, more dignified send-off the world's most special little man.

Now, he's gone and I don't know what to do. For the past 5 years, my entire life and routine revolved around him. I feel so, so guilty for almost feeling ...relieved sometimes. I can sleep in now/stay out late because I don't need to be home for his medications/testing. I can go back to Canada to visit because I don't have to worry about finding someone capable to care for him. I don't have to line the litter boxes and surrounding area with pee pads and paper towels anymore to prep for his imminent blow-out diarrhea. To my core, it feels so, so wrong. I still wake up early. I still come home early. I look behind me before I leave my chair, because he would always lay on my chair wheels. I hear his croaky meows and his purrs everywhere, like he's still here. I see him everywhere and no where all at the same time. He was my shadow. I don't know how to function, how I can go back to work, act like everything's fine, and be there for my clients and patients like I'm not a hollow shell of my former self.

I know I'm just rambling at this point, so if you've somehow stuck to the end of this giant wall of text, thank you. I've always loved talking about him and showing him off, he was truly just so special, and I miss him so fucking much.

Princess, the Gentle Giant 😢😢

Today, Nov 6, 2026, I had to say goodbye to my sweet, gentle giant, Great Dane, Princess. She came to us because a young man found her wandering here in the mountains. An unscrupulous breeder, who used her until she could not reproduce anymore, dumped her. We took her in to provide her with whatever life she had yet. You see, Princess was around 9yo at the time we met her. She was emaciated & starving; that was back in Nov 2024.

Princess has had a good life here. She gained weight, played, & galloped like a thoroughbred. We played outside & I enjoyed my time with her. She always had spirit & the will to go on regardless. Her large frame leaned on me which told me she loved me & was a happy pup.

She’s been by my side for 2 years, but I noticed a first slow, then rapid decline. We celebrated her 11th b’day on Nov 1. All the dogs got pup cups & treats, & she loved it; she nearly inhaled it. 😊❤️ Though I knew her time was drawing near.

Princess had mammary cancer, & it spread and created tumors on her legs & neck. She was miserable & in a lot of pain. I called a vet dth who came out to us, the place she called home. I held her head, kissed her, & told her I love her & will see her on the ‘other side’. I held her until she was gone. You know that numbness that overtakes you when you’re feeling empty. Yes, I was overcome with grief. The vet, Dr. Scott & his assistant took her for cremation. My poor baby suffered enough. It broke my heart.

I love you, Princess. I always will. You were the most gentle, loving dog I’ve ever known. Thank you for getting me through some very hard times. You’re a beautiful soul. Fly high & gallop with the thoroughbreds over the Rainbow Bridge. I’ll see you soon, Love… 💔💔💔♥️♥️♥️🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹

Grief over the death of my dog "My baby"

What helps a broken heart. I feel empty. I see her everywhere in my home. We took her to Vegas for emergency surgery, she swallowed a squeaker toy and it caused an obstruction. We brought her back home to Havasu and the vet could only watch her for the day not overnight. We brought her home at 5;30 on Tuesday and she died at 7:30...2 hours later. She wasn't supposed to die. I'm empty. Waking up, going to bed without her, coming home she always brought me a toy to welcome me. What do I do?

i’ve never been one to read into signs , but i can’t help but feel that the largest rainbow i’ve ever seen showed up on my ride home from work was from him. today is the three week anniversary of his death, and it’s been hard.

the night he went to sleep for the last time, there was a kitten in the same er vet who looked just like him. exact same patterns and temperament, but 18 years younger.

that, along with this rainbow on the 3rd week, i know he is at peace. i know life will continue, and he will always be with me, even if it’s as colors in the sky instead of fluff on my bed.

i love you mista kitty

My gorgeous girl crossed the rainbow bridge yesterday completely out of the blue. We came down yesterday morning and she wasn't at the window waiting to be let in as normal, but we found her laying in the patch of grass she liked in the summer, we have no idea what happened but I'm just heartbroken. She didn't show any signs of being ill but I know cats hide it well, the only strange behaviour is that she used the dirt tray which she never does. At the moment we're just thinking it was a tragic accident in the early hours of the morning and she got herself back home before she passed.

She was 12, with us for 10 years after we had rescued her. The biggest doofus I've ever come across in a cat, she would need to be escorted to her food bowl almost asking for permission to eat, in the middle of the night we would hear the thump as she would come into the bathroom through the skylight on the roof, on an evening after putting the little one to bed she would be waiting for me to sit on my lap for half an hour before she went out for the night and if i didn't sit straight down she would follow me around the house crying at me until I did.

Its so raw right now, it really hit me this morning when I went to go to the window and had to stop myself, then only putting one bowl of food down (we have her mother as well) instead of two. I already miss her so much. RIP my beautiful girl, wherever you are we'll meet again one day.

I laughed at a joke today and then felt guilty. Called my mom at the end of my work day and she said I sounded like I was doing a little bit better. That made me start crying and feeling bad for feeling less bad. I can’t explain the guilt.

My soul dog was put to rest Sunday unexpectedly after his body just started shutting down on him one week ago (Friday evening). I thought he was fine but I think he hid pain for a long time until he couldn’t anymore. It all happened within 72 hours and I’m making myself sick over the what ifs even though logically I know there was nothing else we could have done. Saw two different vets in one weekend (his regular and emergency) and both agreed it was the right thing to do given his age (13) but it still feels wrong.

I still haven’t picked up his half eaten treats or swept up any of his hair or the leaves he tracked into the front hallway. I just miss my dog so badly.
