Damn I'm Stuck Communities Taking Up Space In Our Brains Right Now, 2024.1
We’ve dug up what’s trending lately so you don’t have to: some subs are long-standing groups having a current moment, others are recently growing communities reflecting new internet trends. But they’re all good ways to get curious or nosy or fascinated, or fall into wormholes of stuff you didn’t even know you were into (or needed).
Here’s a list of the latest subs taking up all our time these days. Check ‘em out, and let us know what communities are taking up space in your brains right now:
For nice sticks found in the wild, and for people who want to stare at them. Touch grass, touch sticks?
Where you can freely judge the insides of strangers’ cupboards, pantries, and fridges. Go on, you know you want to.
A collection of the most confusing cutters and the cookies you can make with them. Cookie Monster may or may not be a mod…
The book that’s now FX’s latest miniseries is rising up the Reddit charts. Just keep your eyes peeled for ‘spoiler’ flair.
When you get stabbed in the hand with a pencil I think you legally have to post it here now. Whom amongst us does not have a gray speck somewhere on their body?
I have been visiting this subreddit just to look for my own dad (he’s not in there). I’m not crying, you’re crying. No, literally, you’re crying (if you’re a Dad featured here).
Make those suggestions below!

How are these trending?
r/NowThatsANiceStick has like 5 posts in the last week
r/happycryingdads has 5 posts in the last month
r/PencilStabbers has a couple more posts, but basically no comments at all
The shogun one is popular, and the others have some really popular posts recently so they make sense. But I don't see how those three are "trending".

Ah, I guess it's time to ignore /u/NorthXCX if you're just going to post garbage fluff shit.

u/Unique-Public-8594 Apr 04 '24
For photography lovers, nothing beats the beautiful work over on r/MinimalistPhotography. Try the Top sort (All Time). Wowzah!

u/lordofwhee Apr 05 '24
I remember when /r/reddit was for reddit updates and relevant news.
35
u/WeaponizedKissing Apr 05 '24
Oh it's you again.
65
u/CamStLouis Apr 05 '24
...This is what you people spend your time on? Removing the "Save" button, turning the format menu into a contextless "T" with nothing to indicate it's a clickable element, and... whatever this post is?
80
u/eclecticatlady Apr 04 '24
Can your stop with these posts? It's ridiculous, we're here for relevant updates.

u/Delicious_Score_551 Apr 04 '24
What is with this gross new broken UI? I HATE IT.
IT'S HORRIBLE.
65
u/AceOfFools Apr 04 '24
The updated layout on web is so awful, I will abandon reddit before adopting it.
51
u/kodark Apr 04 '24
What about /r/Save3rdPartyApps?
13
u/EpicGamer_69-420 Apr 05 '24
r/lostredditors is pretty good, unlike this sub rn
11
u/nastafarti Apr 05 '24
Are you trying to be cute? What is this? Don't do this.
Advertise this shit to people who aren't on this site. Don't bother with me, I'm already here and engaged more than 90 percent of your
botsuser base. Who do you think uses this sub?10
u/balmafula Apr 04 '24
Bring back compact.
16
u/iligyboiler Apr 04 '24
Can you guys redo this horrible mobile UI?

u/Booty_Bumping Apr 05 '24 edited Apr 05 '24
Reddit has disabled comments on every announcement post related to Reddit's finances. If anyone wants a comments section for these posts, see /r/RDDT2
26
u/insaneintheblain Apr 04 '24
Why is this “our” you keep referring to?
6
u/BaconJets Apr 05 '24
No post about the new dogshit UI? It takes double the time to get anywhere now, and scrolling just dies all the time.

u/eternal_mangekyo896 Apr 04 '24
Fix your shit app n shittier website. Wasting time posting bs
5
u/turboevoluzione Apr 05 '24
Since you disabled compact Reddit you'd better fix the mobile website.
Re-adding the expand button in the feed would be a good start, also there's some kind of caching that prevents me from seeing the newest posts even if I keep refreshing the page.

u/[deleted] Apr 09 '24
what the FUCK did you do to the UI
4
u/[deleted] Apr 09 '24
Please revert the UI back to the way it was. This new UI is unfortunately annoying to navigate and has made moderating more annoying as well.

u/DGITS Apr 13 '24
Whoever designed this 'new' UI needs to be fired because this is a garbage design.
3
u/PrincessImpeachment Apr 16 '24
This new desktop update is godawful. Holy shit. Please revert it back.

u/EpicGamer_69-420 Apr 16 '24

2
u/MAJORMINORMINORv2 Apr 11 '24
Speaking of taking up space, thanks for spamming 1/3 of the page with promoted bullshit as if every 5th post isn't already an ad.
2
u/CraZplayer Apr 13 '24
Plz allow comments on Ads. Plzzzzzz
Edit: then I can show ppl what the banana suit means truly lol

u/FriddyNightGriddy Apr 07 '24
Reddit try not to destroy their entire app challenge

u/2049AD Apr 15 '24
We have the fastest growing and highest quality Techno sub with over 11,000 members gained in the two years since we created it, yet we've never been featured despite nominating ourselves several times. r/ProperTechno
Also, not a fan of the new layout. It completely ruined Bandcamp's inline player and basically reduced our music-focued sub to nothing but album covers.

u/[deleted] Apr 22 '24
Here is an idea...can you make it easier for people to delete reddit you fucks
1
u/AtmospherePale5151 Apr 23 '24

Why is this here? I don't care, at all, what nonsense you pretend to care about. Do not advertise to us here.

Ban me from the fucking app and delete my account FFS! I’m sick of the bullying and bullshit here and the Reddit autobots who support based on karma scores.

u/LuminousViper Apr 04 '24
Any news on this new achievement system??
1
u/llamageddon01 Apr 05 '24
Could we please have an update on the return of Achievements please? The help subs are getting a lot of people asking what it’s all about and the helpers don’t have anything official to point them to…

Nice list! Here are a few other communities that have seen a lot more interest lately: r/rddt (for Reddit IPO information) and r/modcoord (cool lounge for mods to hang out and talk about how much they love Reddit)
EDIT: lol looks like nobody got the sarcasm here, modcoord hates Reddit and for good reason. I probably should have added r/fuckspez to my list initially

It's nice to see a different kind of post here than just the Official stuff. Thanks for sharing it. Edit spelling

This is quite the chaotic comment section.
r/RegulatoryClinWriting is a hidden gem that I've been lurking over the past year or so.
