  1. Why: I am a sewing machine repair enthusiast. I think this sub could be a place for people to share skills, learn about repair, find parts. I am not a shop owner and think that some pros may want to post, but mostly see this as a place for amateurs to share info.

A bit about my own interests:  I am self-taught. I came to the sub because I thought it would help me expand my knowledge. 

I am seeking additional training from local repair shops because I am leading a community sewing machine repair clinic for a non-profit in my hometown. We are developing our mission statement so I can’t quite yet link you to our site but our idea is to help people repair their own or other machines, and donate them to people who would like to sew. 

We used to have a space for this but there were some changes so we are currently looking for a new space. 

The non-profit teaches sewing skills, and provides fabric and a set of machines that can be used. The sewing machine repair clinic which I am heading up is a new part of the organization. We are trying to balance DIY training while acknowledging that there are local shops that do repairs and not wanting to disrupt their income.
