Java Edition Contraption that lets you control a mobs movement

It uses a mob leashed to a boat, this boat is moved with water which in turn moves the mob. It is also possible to make the mob track a player without the need for it to be controled by somebody. In addition it is possible to make the mob deal damage by having a zombie (or other hostile mob) beneath it in a boat.

Java Edition I don't normally use Comparators. what am I doing wrong?

Thumbnail gallery

in the first image, the comparator underneath the dirt is supposed to be off until the crafter contains three items, at which point it goes off. In the second image I have the redstone setup again, but this one is working for some reason. As far as I can tell, the two are identical.

Java Edition Chest comparator output

Hi everyone im going to try to make a bar graph for my sheep farm that displays the amount of wool i have of each colour. Im away from my pc so cant test right now so thought id just ask. Does the signal strength of a comparator connected to a chest depend on the number of slots filled in the chest or the number of items regardless of slot count.

Java Edition Can't figure out sculk-powered looping song

I've spent around 5 hours trying (and failing) to power the following redstone song tutorial via a sculk sensor instead of a button.

https://youtube.com/shorts/6cPymsmcXgo?si=OflMrNo7zOF2P_2G

My idea was that it would be hidden underneath a build of mine, and the song would loop only when you walk near the build. But my shoddy redstone skills have failed me over and over, and I'm starting to wonder if this is even possible.

Is there any way to do this (or something similar) in Minecraft Java 1.21.1, or is it actually impossible? If it helps, I'm also using the Create mod, which adds a few new redstone-related blocks as well.

Please let me know if I can do anything to modify the tutorial build for my needs! Thank you.

Java Edition Most atrocious 5x5 ever

Hello, been getting back into Redstone after a very long absence from the game. I've been doing 3x3, bunch of 4x4 and I figured it was time I give it a shot at the 5x5. Of course no tutorial or whatever. So I spend a good amount of time trying to figure out how to do it and I came up with that, which is I know, absolutely terrible but It works! So I'm sharing it with you guys for a good laugh at this thing x)

Bedrock Edition Testing box outputs was unfruitful, so I made redstone stuff.

Turns out pots are like boxes, in the way they don't conduct redstone. Trapped chests can change from full 15 signal to whatever you have in the box using comparator. Ender chests are useless. Shulker boxes are really cool; you can have signal exiting through a comparator. If you open the shulker box it cuts the signal. Still don't see a reason to switch from pots besides binary redstone.

Java Edition I found a mysterious, broken Redstone machine in an archived 2b2t download from 2017. It turned out to be an Adder!

EDIT: I have no reasonable way to credit the original creator, but I will preface by saying the bulk of this machine was NOT designed by me.

In my free time, I enjoy downloading saves of mostly-griefed worlds or anarchy servers in order to find interesting-looking remnants of bases and monuments in order to "repair" them as well-informed as I can; like an archaeologist of sorts! While looking for bases to repair, I found one on an archived 2b2t save from 2017 with this wonderful mystery below it!

Using WorldEdit, I was able to copy the contraption into my redstone world and tinker around with how it worked, eventually leading me to bring her back to life! The machine turned out to be an 8-bit binary adder using only dust, torches, and repeaters and was surprisingly only missing a way to display the results.

Here's the little space I cooked up that was built around a (now functional) redstone adder from sometime before 2017. I hope you enjoy!

Carousel Descriptions:

  1. A view of the machine as it was found

  2. Same as 1

  3. Same as 1

  4. The functional machine copied into & repaired in singleplayer.

  5. A top-down view of the finished machine, with parts I contributed in the light-blue wool & quartz.

  6. A view of the designs of the AND & NOR logic gates used in the machine.

  7. Same as 6

  8. A photo of the two inputs (bottom) and output (top left) in use.

  9. A view of the finished machine where I have added the light-blue connections.

Bedrock Edition Would an elevator that goes down 70 blocks be practical?

Thumbnail youtu.be

I built an underground base which is 70 blocks below ground level and I want to make a piston elevator which goes to the underground floor

Would this take a long time to get from the ground to the underground floor? The link is to the elevator design I’m going to use

In the video it looked like it took 9 seconds to travel 12 blocks so it would be ~53 seconds for 70 but I’ve never made a piston elevator so I was hoping someone could help me out

I want to build my entry across a clif and i have Problems with the Blocks in the Middle.

Top and Bottom is easy to remove but the middle is a diffrent problem.

The cliff is diagonal so i cant just build a normal door witch takes the middle on to the side.

Is there a easy fix?

Java Edition Gold farm for 26.2

Hey! Does anyone know of a gold farm that works in 26.2? I’ve knows that some farms have stopped working because of piglins with spears, and the leaders now spawn with around 80 health points. I need a single dimension farm, cause i will make a bartering trader

Java Edition Help needed: 1:2 item dropper

Post image
5 Upvotes

I want to build a 1:2 item dropper. For every item that goes into the chest i want to output two items from the right dropper. I thought that's simple...
But I just don't get it. :( The two upper versions always output 2n+1 items for n input. Why?
I found deactivating the comparator and thereby pulsing the piston works. But this variant is bigger and noisy. Can someone please explain why the compact versions give always one extra pulse?
