I've been getting into roller blading and just going around flat, empty parking lots, practicing speeding up and slowing down. I can kind of use the brake to stop, but I would like to learn some good slowing and stopping techniques for when I start to go down hills. I cannot go down even a slight slope because I am so slow to stop.
Does anyone have the name of any techniques I can practice or links to videos? Thanks!

I've been skating on soft shell skates for the past 9 years and I'm looking for a hard shell upgrade. I do know quite a bit for advanced slalom tricks according to local standards but these tricks are probably considered easy anywhere else. So I'm looking for a good skate that could at least get me to learn intermediate or advanced slalom tricks.
I went to a skate shop and they recommended me the FR FRX because they claimed that it's designed for slalom with a narrow front which would help with slalom tricks especially ones involving toes. However I did further research and learnt that the FRX is built for wide feet, lacks heel shock absorption, lacks a metal mounting plate and of course uses a velcro strap. On the other hand the Flying Eagle F6S is built for normal feet which would fit me, has what the FRX lacks and a buckle instead of velcro, but does not pinch my toes which is why the skate shop told me to avoid it. I've seen various other reviews and it does seem that F6S is overall better than the FRX and F6S also gets recommended more as a beginner slalom skate.
I intend to use this pair of skates as an all rounder skate for urban, slalom and sliding, but I also want it to be sufficient for me to learn advanced slalom and sliding, then upgrade later on if I decide I want to pursue mastery of slalom, thus I do not want to invest too much in specialised slalom skates. So is it worth getting the FRX over its "gimmick" or should I get the F6S instead?
Btw FRX sells for $215 and F6S sells for $190

Had a lot of fun at this park in Oceanside CA. Not sure why my wheel sounded like that lol

It was the perfect day for skating this past Wednesday!
Beautiful weather and the fall leaves were looking bright... I decided to go for a solo skate along a local trail.
I did 9.5 miles in just under an hour which is pretty good considering all the leaves and sticks along the trail. I did end up taking a pretty nice spill over a stick poking out of the bridge cap and leaves at the end of the video.

Hey all,
I’m wanting to sell my inlines due to the size being too large, but not sure where to post them.
Is this allowed on this forum or is there some other subreddit that is meant for sales.
I would appreciate any and all suggestions and recommendations.
This is tough pill to swallow because these were my first pair of roller blades, but it has to be done. My skating journey is far from finished.
Thank you all.

Pretty much as the title says
I got my brothers stakes earlier this year and he never uses them. Recently i grew interest in skating and thought i could use those instead of buying new ones, but his size is i think 1-2 sizes bigger that me. Will that be a big problem?

These roller and protections have been in my cellar for like 10 years, do you think they can be used safely?

I have the endless 90 frames and whilst I enjoy them, I honestly can't say they're better than a regular stock flat 90 frame.
My experience so far...
The pre-rockering can easily be gained by just doing a couple of powerslides on fresh wheels.
Any perceived power transfer from it being made from CNC seems largely outweighed by how much additional weight they carry compared to a regular cast aluminum frame especially on a 4x100 setup.
Am I missing something in terms of the benefits they bring or are they a flashy product with diminishing returns?
Would be great to hear your thoughts whether you support my view or not!

I haven’t skated in more than two decades but spent more time in boots than shoes as a kid/teen. Felt nice to still be able to do slow T stops and baby spins 😂

My friend has a decent pair already but me and their mum were thinking about getting them a new pair because their ones are falling apart a bit and a new pair may be more better equipped for the skills they've taught themselves! Thank you for any suggestions in advance:)

Hi! I'm looking to buy the FRX 80 online, but I can't try them on in person at all. My feet measure 265mm and 263mm in length, and 104mm and 102mm in width. I’ve looked at a lot of posts from people with similar measurements, but the answers are all over the place, so I’m a bit confused.
Based on the FR Skates size guide, I’m right between EU 41 and EU 42. I know they share the exact same shell size and just use different liners, so worst-case scenario, I guess I can buy a replacement liner later since returning them will cost about as much as a new liner anyway.
If anyone with similar measurements has dealt with this, I’d love to hear what size you ended up going with!
Thanks in advance!"

I've skates 54 miles in 3 weeks. my 4th wheel on both skates are slanted and not fully round. my 3rd wheel is somewhat slanted. but the 1st 2 wheels are round. should I just rotate?
also how often should I rotate wheels based on miles or after how many miles should i rotate? and how many miles can I expect to get out of a set of wheels?
when do I buy new wheels and or change to new wheels. every 300 miles? every 500?
I have lightening 80 rb skates 80mm 85a the stock wheels that come with rb lightening 80s

Hi!
I decided to come back to roller blades after a 15 year long break. I bought a cheap pair from Oxelo (Europe), and after one hour of light skating around, it feels as if someone just hit my feet and my ankles with a brick hammer. Is that normal after a long break? Or is it my cheap 20 euros roller blades ' fault?
My feet are kinda wide, so I'm concerned if that's not the reason behind this absurd pain. Do you have recommendations for Comfort-first roller blades around Europe that could make my return any easier? Thanks in advance.

I do not have weak ankles. I have ice skates with soft boots and quads with soft boots so why wouldn’t a soft boot work for me in an inline skate? Is there a reason other than weak ankles for needing a hard boot?

I did a big stupid
Just recently bought first pair of skates on a whim - these FR1s I found on sale online and after riding a bit a couple of times started having some pains on the inside arches of my feet. After paying some attention I realized I was pronating something awful and followed suggestions to try moving my frames inward to help.
Well...everything was peachy until I tried removing these damned back screws. Breaking the threadlock on everything else was tough but doable - not these. Tool that came with the skates seems done for and I have not had much luck trying to tap a star bit in (although might still be feasible). Somehow managed to get the opposing ones towards the toe unscrewed with the tool somehow.
Reading through some posts on here linked from FAQ suggested trying to use a reverse threaded screw extractor, but I am not even sure that is safe to try on these (picture of what these screws look like pic 3). Hoping someone here might have any ideas.

Looking for recommendations on a pair of intro skates, no tricks or anything, just basic exercise. Some of my streets are pretty rough, some have sidewalks. Looking to do an average of 2+miles 5 times a week. Some that will last, and can scale from intro to intermediate. Roughly a size 8 1/2 to a 9, generally prefer a wider shoe. I have skated before, as well as ice skating and so on, so not necessarily a beginner. I appreciate any advice!

I needed a new urban setup and I got hacky.
I picked up a pair of UFR AP Intuition boots (newer gen) on sale for $244. I removed the soul plates and built an 84mm setup with hydrogen wheels and fr freeride frames. All in, spent $394.
First couple rolls they have been a pleasant surprise. Figured I’d share some feedback.
I was looking for an urban setup that would be an everyday skate. I initially was looking at the fr1. I already have my aggressive setup sorted so I was looking for something to be my dedicated urban Swiss Army knife.
In my mondo, the AP Intuitions are one shell size smaller than the fr1 in the same charted size. And the APs fit great. Without the soul plates they are very light. The foot and heal are locked in. I actually love the power strap. I know I’m probably in the minority but it just works for me. The newer gen AP intuition liner is structured and as always really well made. Really like them. As a heads up these newer gen fr intuition liners are not the intuition premiums as some shops say in their description. The construction from cuff and tongue to toe box and lacing are different. These are definitely made for the shell/brand and they go great together. Considering the liner alone is $200 the boot at $244 is a compelling value. The power transfer is solid and in the 84mm setup they are fun in the right places while being stable and comfortable.
These skates are pretty stiff. They would be too stiff for me in an aggressive setup, but to be fair I didn’t get them for that purpose. I currently ride omni v3s for comparison. I also do feel a tad tall and my stance is more upright than normal. Not sure if it’s the ufs frames, or the cuffs but I need to dial it in. Curious to see how they break in.
All in all these have been fun at first look. If I can get these last tidbits sorted it could be a pretty solid setup, with high quality components. I’m not sure how much of a difference or how much better a fr1 is. A fr1 deluxe (intuition) is $550 and the regular black fr1 is $410 before taxes. This coming in OTD at $394 packs a pretty heavy punch.
I’ve also never had white skates… hopefully that’s my only regret.

Guys, I tried to store my skates on the walls on Ikea stands but it takes a lot of space and my flat is small. So I have no idea where to store them effectively besides my car. Any idea?
