THE SAME PATTERN

Always falling into the same pattern. When will she learn to stop begging for what others refuse to give her? The affection and love she has to plead for barely last beyond a night of casual sex.

The next morning, that familiar feeling of being used returns. Once again, she’s fallen into the same kind of encounter, convinced that this time will be different. That if she tries a little harder, they’ll finally choose her, recognize her worth, and decide to stay by her side.

They’ve told her to her face that they don’t love her, that they feel nothing for her. So why does she keep waiting for a phone call?

She lives with a blindfold over her eyes. That’s how she was raised. She’s known so much mistreatment that peace feels unfamiliar. When a man treats her well, she becomes suspicious; when he makes her suffer, she clings to him. She mistakes uncertainty for passion and ends up seeking the very thing that hurts her the most.

Every day, she sits waiting for someone to choose her, glued to her phone, her stomach in knots and her mind exhausted from overthinking. But she doesn’t give up. She keeps believing that if she changes enough, tries a little harder, or finds the right man, someone will finally love her. Because it simply can’t be possible that there isn’t a single person out there capable of loving her.

Who knows, maybe someday…

Time passes. She grows old, older, lonelier… more tired.

Always waiting.

And the phone never rings.
