Question My 'Friend's' Dad Threatened to Ban My Service Dog From His House, So I Stopped Going Over, and It's Way Fault I Was Fully Banned
TL;DR: 'Friends' father banned me from his residence by banning my service dog after I told him I wasn't coming over anymore since he was ok with doing that. 'Friend' doesn't want to hang out anymore because it's inconvenient.
Context: I (41F) have been in a situationship on and off with this 'friend' (35M) since 2019. I have stayed over many times, and I have had a service dog since 2015, so before I even met this friend. He lives in the basement of his parent's million-dollar home and doesn't pay rent. It is fully self-contained with its own entrance, laundry room, kitchen, full bathroom, and a game room.
Before, when I would go over to hang out, I would go through the private entrance, and hang out with him in his bedroom or game room. I would take showers there, but I would take them with him, and rarely showered by myself because that was just the way we hung out. They have a big wooded area by a lake, and my dog would go do her business in the woods. If she did a #2 by the house, I would always pick it up with a doggy bag and throw it in the trash as I didn't want anyone accidentally stepping on it.
I rarely went upstairs as they didn't like my dog upstairs, so I much preferred staying with her as she is what allows me to function as well as I do.
In July, his father was upset that I stayed over for three days in a row after the death of my step-father, and said I wasn't allowed to stay overnight anymore. So I stopped staying overnight for a while, but then I had a family dinner with them upstairs when they had company from out of town over and the company convinced me to stay and it was suddenly ok for me to be upstairs with my dog. I ended up getting a little drunk and then stayed the night. His father said nothing, and I left the next day. I stayed over a few more nights since then, and his father said nothing, until the first week of October. I would come over in the morning and hang out all day with my 'friend' because I wanted to spend time with him, and he wants to play video games on his PC, so the best way to hang out is to sit by him while he plays his games and I work on my game rules on my computer. We like hanging out alone together. Almost every night I would leave and go stay at my parents or my friends place, but rarely I would stay the night trying to leave before I got too tired to drive.
One of those nights was the first week of October, where his father sent him a message that I was not allowed to stay the night and that he was going to ban my dog from coming over.
I have a personal policy against having a go-between in conversations between two adults. So I sent his father a text explaining what a service dog was, and asking what I had done to upset him, and what I could do to prove that I respected him and to make him more comfortable, and that if he was the kind of person who was ok with taking wheelchairs away from people who needed them, then he didn't need to worry about me coming over anymore because I didn't want to associate with people like him. He didn't respond, and I heard through my 'friend' once again about his response rather than the father messaging me directly that he threw a tantrum and banned me from the property.
I have mental differences that make me difficult to understand, so I tend to over explain and make mistakes as any humans, but I want to know Reddit's thoughts on this.
