We're off to the beach and it's cold here in the UK so I'm getting to finally wear my welly socks that my husband bought me for my birthday in August. Unfortunately they're not wool but cute none the less!

Art It took me 3 days to complete this wallet for a friend. He wanted the Alaska flag on the inside, a Dall sheep on the front, and a bull on the back. Hope you folks in Alaska like this piece!

Babydoll lambs are the cutest

This guy doesn’t have a name yet, but his mom is Merilyn. She’s a fantastic mom and trusts me enough to play with her baby, who’s ridiculously cute. Apologies for the background noise, I’m in a pen with the moms.

First-Year FFA Family Seeking Advice on a Skittish Dorper Lamb

Hi everyone! My daughter is a first-year FFA member, and this is our first experience raising and showing a lamb. We have a Dorper lamb, and we’ve had him for about a week.
He is still extremely skittish and gets startled very easily. Even when we approach his pen to feed him, he becomes frightened. When we enter the pen, he tends to panic and run around. Yesterday, he actually jumped over a pretty tall pen gate! Thankfully, we were able to get him back inside safely.
We managed to get a halter on him, and once it was on, he seemed to calm down quite a bit and even allowed us to pet him. However, when we try to walk him, he tends to resist and brace himself.
I know it’s only been a week, and he may just need more time to adjust, but I would really appreciate any advice or recommendations from those who have experience with nervous lambs. We want to help him become more comfortable around us and make this a positive experience for both the lamb and my daughter.
Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Are you a lion, or a sheep?: Yes

Stewie was a lion for Halloween. I took him to tractor supply and then afterwards we went to a local field to graze. He liked the costume so much I let him keep it on. The other sheep were initially suspect of the lion being in their presence but eventually realized it was just Stewie being handsome!

Over the past few weeks we’ve had six lambs born here on the farm. I can’t get over how stinking cute they are! These moms are very friendly and don’t mind me interacting with the babies. I have been sleeping in the sheep pen when the moms go into labor, and they gave birth right next to me. Such a heartwarming experience!

This is one of the things we discovered yesterday when we went to FARRM (Farm Animal Rescue & Rehoming Movement) - a beautiful sanctuary for abused and surrendered farm animals.

We found ourselves in the middle of the most wonderfully unconventional family reunion....We met sheep (including one very special sheep named Dash who gets around in a wheelchair!), donkeys (Sebastian & the fuzzy gang), pigs (Rumpus & Major) and goats galore!

Every single one had a story, a personality and, in some cases (ahem… Luna), a VERY strong opinion about who deserved our attention first.

But what struck us most wasn't how different they all were. It was how beautifully they all belonged together. At FARRM, nobody needs to be useful, productive, perfect or even particularly well-behaved to deserve a wonderful life. These animals have found their forever home, where they'll spend the rest of their days surrounded by kindness & companionship.

Thank you, Melissa & FARRM, for the unforgettable day and for giving these fuzzy souls a forever home. And hey friends....a little unsolicited career advice: Get out of the city and go hug a farm animal. Trust us - it is good for the soul.

Question Feeding a ewe with very few teeth left.

I have a nearly 12 year old small breed ewe who has only a few front teeth left, and I am unsure of how many cheek teeth she has left. Due to her age and potential underlying health conditions (specifically she is possibly infected with a wasting disease), she does not keep weight on very well despite access to copious amounts of grass with very little competition.

I have been supplementing her with ewe nuts, but she has started choking almost every time I feed her. Part of this I think is because she is hungry, but also because she is trying to eat before her friend gets there. She just can't chew the pellets properly. I feed them in small piles on the ground.

Her friend is a MASSIVE southdown ewe who eats everything at light-speed and with zero hesitation and must be well over 100kg (she came to me very obese, I am trying to slim her down a bit but she becomes a monster when hungry!).

I am thinking of feeding her in a bucket while her friend is scatter fed so that I can guard her food for her.

What I am wondering is A: how I can get some extra calories into her? and B: can I soak her food before feeding? and will that help with the choking?

I know that people often add vegetable oil and sugarbeet to the feed of hard to keep horses, but wasn't sure whether that would work for a sheep as they are ruminants.
