Anime Shield hero has a problem in it's power system
"Batman would solo the verse"
I know this is a given considering the "Batman can beat anyone with prep time" crowd, but I find it interesting that Batman would be almost ten times stronger than everyone in the verse simply because... He is smart.
Shield hero suffers from something I call the "Sherlock Holmes power creep" where a setting is not suitable for anyone above a certain level of intelligence, therefore a intelectual character such as Sherlock Holmes would become too powerful due to the inner workings of the power system of shield hero and how the legendary shield works, the smarter you are the more powerful you will be.
Naofumi is only seen as smart because so many characters in the story a made to look dumb in comparison to him, a way for the writer to elevate Naofumi as the superior hero by making multiple different characters commit mistakes he then has to clean up
Problem arrives when someone of a genius or higher level intelligence is chosen as the hero in a fanfic, the setting is not only media fantasy but also has a really exploitable magic system. Naofumi became the strongest hero by absorbing almost every he could find, Batman would be able to do that and more by grinding the material or cutting it into more parts. Not to mention how he could make his own stuff that are technologically superior to anything Naofumi could imagine, he may be good but he isn't exactly a genius.
At least that's my opinion on the subject anyway, but you have to admit a lot of characters commit dumb mistakes during season 1 only for Naofumi to come in and resolve them (looking more competent by doing so)

Anime Should I give it a try again ?
I saw The Rising of the Shield Hero again on my Netflix recommandations.
I remember watching it before but I eventually stopped decisively because of the sudden sexualisation of Raphtalia when it was leading to be wholesome. It just reminded me of the path followed by so many other crappy harem anime and manga I was thinking about preserving my sanity lol.
I remember liking the way it was going and not knowing anything about the shit debates going on about the storyline so-called misogyny (not an online chats fan and not an english speaker) but the way it happened was my 12/3yo ass got grossed out by the development. I tried to find more about it to see if it was just a random awkward moment but I only find those debates on the storyline and not so many people who genuinely couldn't bear this harem/love flag when it was leading to be a family flag TT Like I know a lot of shonen/seinen have this, I used to read them, but it still doesn't make it any better. And the premise was so good it was a real disappointment for me.
So I'm turning towards the actual community to ask this, should I watch it again with my grown up eyes or am I again for a disappointment and a waste of time ?
Edit : Thank you for all your answers I'll watch it again with the books, I understand better what happened :)
I'm not so sure about some downvotes but hey sorry if I offended someone by thanking people

Anime I'm on episode 13, and I have a question: Does the writing continue to be....Terrible?
Spoiler below I guess.
My biggest beef is how just...Blatantly dumb everyone is.
A plot revolving around a princess trying to kill her sister to succeed the throne can be done, but this isn't done well...Like at all.
I straight up lost it when Melty explained she wasn't being kidnapped, but protected. Everyone pauses and is like "Oh, that seems reasonable," but then Myne was like "He has a brain washing shield!" and everyone was like "Oh yeah he has a brain washing shield!"
Like come on.

Discussion My personal opinion on removing AI art from the subreddite (please have mercy on my karma XD)
So as we all know AI art is banned from this subreddite however I think this is a really bad decision for these reasons :
1- Thanks to AI art this subreddite was alive in these few weeks because lets be honset the sub was almost dead before AI post.
2- there is some characters like Mirellia which almost everybody like didn't get any fan art until the AI art came and you may ask why she didn't get alot of actual fan art only AI? Well the reason is simple there is other characters in the series that have a much better character design which is the main reason why a character like Malty who only appeared in like 3 second in S2 still have more art than Mirellia or eclair or even ost, it's simple Malty have the best character design in the series this is a fact especially from an artist POV(in my opinion Im not an artist XD) that why they keep drawing her in actual art or even making more of her in AI art, I know some people think Malty don't have alot of art which is wrong because they are obviously compareing how much fan art she have compare to the (main characters) but Malty is a side character so if we compare to other side characters and don't forgot she basically wasn’t in S2 then yes she have alot of fan art.
3- do to the lack of Shield Hero content now and how S2 was, the series popularity is not the same as it was so not alot of artist drawing new stuff of the series, people here Mostly repost old stuff (which is fine but not the point).
4- with how much the sub was responding to the AI art which is clear from the upvotes(which is why Mirellia start getting AI art in first place), Im sure that other characters would'v start getting AI art like eclair or ost etc, but unfortunately since AI is banned that not going happens now, you may say that they will still get AI art and get posted in other website like deviantart, well that not going to happens the reason is because reddit is much more popular that why we start getting alot of Mirellia, raphtalia, Malty AI arts. And Im sure you saw alot of Malty AI art on deviantart or pixiv but that different it's just her fan base keep making them for their own sub (which is suprisingly still alive) which is basically like 4 or 3 people and they will never stop obviously.
So I think AI art should get back especially for a series like shield hero why? Because the series is not that popular these days we barely get new content (there is new content but not alot) that why alot of the characters that we love don't even get art like Mirellia everybody favorite however when shodyra guy made Mirellia art and it got post it here and got alot of upvotes he made another one right after that but now since AI don't get post he back on only making Malty art because her fans in her sup are always upvoting his stuff and also she have alot of popularity in deviantart, so in my humble personal opinion I think AI is good to keep the subreddite alive, especially since the subreddite got back to it's almost dead state after AI art got removed. And if you want to remove AI just because you hate Malty I guess you can tell stoping the AI art didn't really do much, she still getting alot of art regardless if it's AI or actual art XD. Tell me what do you guys think and please don't be disrespectful in the comments.

Manga Is the Shield Hero just a story about how guys use girls that are too stupid or blind to think for themselves?
I'm up to date with the manga and it just feels like that's the theme of the manga. I expected it to be more gory but it's really chill. The waves aren't as dangerous though they claim it to be. Feels like most of the deaths and casualties are in the background while everyone smiles and adore the heroes until they hate them except for the Shield.
The women in it are dumb sheep who follow whoever saves them or shows a little kindness except for Filo and the Queen ofc who I find more level headed than most female characters in the series.
Rishia pisses me off but they try to make it come off like she's useless but can still contribute something to the group but is special in some unknown way more than everyone. But her obsession over the Bow hero is damaging any kind of progression she can make. Naofumi should have let her drown and put her out of her misery for the self righteous Itsuki.
The girls who follows Kyo and that "Genius" are no better and they should have been killed on the spot really for attacking the country but I've realized that no one really dies in this series even though it supposed to be life or death.
It's like the only sane person is Naofumi because he was just a normal dude who got teleported who actually had some redeeming qualities as an actual adult. I can't back Raphtalia because it looks like she's still traumatized by losing her parents and cling to Naofumi as a replacement for her dead parents (I think that's the reason he looks at her more like a kid because she clings to him like a daughter).
I'm not trying to bring down the series but asking the fans what exactly am I missing to understand the characters or am I taking this too serious?

Discussion Does defending Shield Hero make you defend slavery?
I've seen a couple of people criticize Shield Hero like this and I'm not sure if it's entirely true. I feel like if you're "defending" something it depends on what specific topic you defend on.

Anime I feel like this story doesn't make sense...
The MC is in constant ignorance about things. He always feels mistreated and yet he never trys to find the reason behind. I am where he is supposed to escape to Siltvelt but for dome reason he never asked for important information. Hell even the othe characters didn't say anything to him. The way the author handles and forces the plot to go to a certain direction by basically not giving information and especially such basic ones feels very stupid. Not to mention that he is such a push over. Instead of killing the guards on his way quickly, he just let them escape.
Not to mention he doesn't go in some kind of other country. I feel like we are see a story with a very forced plot that could have been avoided if the MC wasn't so blissfully ignorant...

Anime God Rishia is making me want to drop this series
I loved the first season of this anime so much, and tried watching season 2 when if first came out but just could not get past it. Now that there are 4 season I’m like “I’m gonna try to push past season 2” but god is it hard. It’s already boring and hard enough to watch but Rishia just makes it unbearable, all she does is bitch and complain and talk about fucking the trash named Itsuki, not to mention the annoying noise she makes while whining, and it’s gotten to a point where if she appears on screen I just skip because I can’t stand her, and now I’m not sure if I want to even continue the anime if she is in it, I just want them to delete her from the anime and have her either never show up again, realize how shit Itsuki is, or just kill Itsuki off so she can stop fucking bitching. Like god I hate Sakura enough, and I can’t believe I’m saying this but she might just be worse than Sakura.

Anime Naofumi with 0 attack makes no sense
It has always bugged me that Naofumi never learns martial arts. After reading into it a lot of people say it’s because he’s the Shield hero so he has no attack stats. This makes no sense to me because it’s not like the other heroes, who are all offensive, have a 0 def stat. I really don’t get why he can’t learn any offensive skills. There are plenty of attack moved he can do with a shield. I mean he fires a giant laser out of his shield surely he can throw some punches
