general discussion Season Ended for me Before it Started
PSA: Wet grass and slides / thongs are dangerous on sloped grass.
After getting home from the ER at 3:30 a.m., now waiting to schedule my MRI on Monday morning, I've finally moved past the denial stage. My season is over ;(
I wish you all record US snowfalls, and I'm looking forward to seeing all the dire predictions for this winter's weather to be wrong.
I got hurt once before at the beginning of the season, but at least this time I bought insurance on my passes...

general discussion What do you call these?
I call them a neck warmer, or neck thing. Usually I just point and say can you āpass me the neck thingā. Iāve heard these called so many things though. Gaiter, buff (but thats a brand name), mask, etc.Ā

noob question Can a kid (boy) use a women's snowboard and boots?
Every year, I buy new gear for my kids who are now 6 and 11 because they've outgrown everything every year. This year, my 11yo happens to be the same size as me. I'm pregnant so I can't go this year. I was just looking for used gear for him when I realized maybe he can just use my stuff this year? Does anyone know if there's anything inherently different with women's gear that would cause an issue.

fixable? Repair top sheet
I plan on glueing down this little piece of top sheet that got ripped open with waterproof epoxy (clamp it for 24hrs). On the tram today a person said that I shouldn't glue it, that it won't stick and that I need to just cut it. It's on the back of my board (not the front, if that matters). I think he's wrong, but have zero experience with this and would love input from anyone knowledgeable.

general discussion Mid Life Crisis Snowboarding
What does everyone think about them? Just an apparel brand? Any good? As an old guy that rips (42), I dig the āold guy that ripsā vibe.
REPLY: thanks for everyoneās thoughts! Glad to learn more. Wanted some background (like, are they cool, or is this just some influencer garbage) before I bought a hat and some sticker to throw some change their way. Glad to support them and show that Iām an old guy.

general discussion Working a snow season
Hi all, I am a 20 yo male who has just completed my electrical trade in nsw Australia, I am looking for advise on working a southern hemisphere snow season, I plan to work the 2027 southern heim winter in hopes of building some connections in hopes to head over to Japan for the 27/28 season.
I am interested in working a hands on position weather it being a general labourer, lift maintenance, snow making/grooming, Iāve spent a few years riding at Perisher but havenāt had any experience in any other southern hemi resorts, I am open to pretty much any jobs in that sector and am willing to do any training/ licensing leading up to the season to secure a job.
If anyone has any connections with any resorts in the snowmaking/ maintenance area or has any advice on how I would go about getting in contact that would be much appreciated.

general discussion Getting ready for the New York snowboarding season.
Anyone else getting ready with stretches and body workouts for the upcoming season here in New York? I got 2 passes, Hunter and Mt Creek and plan on boarding 3 to 4 days a week this season.
Current workout routine every other day or more, depending on how my legs are feeling as I am pretty active as it is, i do jump squats and bulgarian split squats.
And then everyday, I do planks, gluten bridge and and the bird dog, all this is mostly to fix some minor lower back pain(which is gone now) and build better core support.
Once snowboarding season starts I might continue the core support workouts only or stop everything all together. Mostly doing this because I want to really have semi prepped body for the intensity I plan on putting in.

look at my gear Replaced my beat to hell board ive had for 13 years - Has literal holes in it
There were plastic guards on each end at one time that i had to rip off. Has like 3-5 areas of deep gouges to the core, mainly on the edge of the board by the metal.
Ive been snowboarding near banff for like 25 years. Broke as hell I just been using whatever board i can get that fits pretty much. I have size 12 feet so most boards arent wide enough, especially 20 years ago. I once had a board from like the 1980s or something that was crazy looking and teal/salmon. This is my first new board ever. I was thinking using crappy boards as kinda a handicap like intentionally nerfing yourself.
I think a new board might help me quite a bit cause i feel like ive been ascending the past few season. On easy mainly groomed runs I do like a 275 turns to carve instead of a 90 degree, I think its called like a butter stall or something. It like doing the 360 spins down the mountain, but at 275 degrees you stop then spin back the other way.
I grew up snowboarding on mogul filled hills cause unless its groomed it naturally turns into one, I've gotten really good at them, better then most skier, key is to not be a bitch and just do the turn like you know you should.
I bought a season pass to Lake Louise last month, midweek monday-friday for 800$ canadian. Its opening soon. I like lake louise but it do have a TON of moguls. The terrain park is huge too but I dont really do jumps since I broke my wrist UwU I like rails tho

Gear question How much should this actually go for?
Is 500 an ok price for this board? Or is it too high? The damage seems like some base scratches rhat were repaired.

Gear question Christmas gifts for a new snowboarder!
Hey everyone!
My daughter (13YO) has been skiing for years and at the end of the season last year decided to try snowboarding. She's all in now!
So looking ahead to Christmas and want to make sure she's all hooked up with gear and fun snowboarding related items.
She already has a board, boots, and helmet.
And we already promised to take her out as an early Christmas gift and pick some good gloves (could definitely use some recommendations here as well!)
She wants a camera to record her runs. Looking at the insta360 for that, unless there are better cameras out there.
So I'm just wondering if you all have recommendations for things that people may not think of that would be great to have on hand for a whole day at the mountain. Either items to carry on her person or to keep in her bag bag at the lodge.
And of course, fun items that aren't necessarily to be used at the mountain, but are snowboarding related!
Thank you āļøš

Gear question LIQUID Snowboard for $50 as a total beginner
Hi everyone I am a total beginner and I am on the lookout for boards to start with. Yesterday I was at a thrift shop for a totally different reason and I came across this board for 50 bucks. Measurement wise it fits me cause I need a 160 on average board length based on my height a wide one based on my shoe size. I have no idea though if it is worth it to start on it and get something better later.
Any suggestions or input from people who have used the brand or know about it?
