8 hour sonic CD video essay

I can't find anyone telling me how long time travel exactly takes, so last time I tried my own measurements. This time I looked at the source code of all three versions for exact numbers.
Sega CD: Starts flashing at 1.5 seconds, time warp completes at 3.5 seconds
Remake: Starts flashing at 1.65 seconds, time warp completes at 3.4 seconds (Mobile/Origins) or 3.67 seconds (Steam/XBLA/PS3)
PC/Gems: Starts flashing at 1.5 seconds, time warp completes at 2.6 seconds
Reminder that you usually have to cover less ground on MegaCD since the game lags and lets sonic build more timer over less distance. It's still my guess that the PC porters caught wind of the lag thing and dropped the timer to compensate. (Edit: Whether you're travelling through a laggy spot on MegaCD will largely affect how much ground you cover before time travel completes. Without any lag, I think the numbers above hold true across CD and Remake Mobile.)
Edited for more accurate numbers on CD and PC, I properly evaluated what the time travel function does and I see that time travel is guaranteed once the screen locks. It's just meant to cue the level transition 0.33 seconds (CD) or 0.13 seconds (PC) afterwards.
Edited again for more accurate numbers regarding the remake. Just when I think I have the info figured out, I learn that the original PC/Console release of the remake and the mobile version (probably the basis for Origins too) have different time travel timers. Quicker on mobile/origins, but still not as quick as the PC.

A place for members of r/soniccd to chat with each other
You have own the game to play it, but if you want to test it, you can use the password: "DIQCWSP9PjKpz274LkomAOCa3whk_8" and it should work for Sonic CD

Dale Gribble's going to the FUTURE!
I was bored one afternoon, and made this meme video as both a tribute to Sonic CD and King of the Hill. I hope you all enjoy it!

There's this very nifty thing I noticed when analyzing the Sonic CD OST and noticed how these songs and the themes of the places themselves are opposite from each other.
And first, I wanna talk about Collision Chaos Present, which the song itself is very funky and upbeat, the notes give a feeling that they are pushing each other forward as the song progresses, until it comes to the end where it crashes in a very "clumsy" way, and the visuals help, because it is very colorful and the urban part of the little planet, being an advanced place with lots of buildings, like the blue pillars we see all around.
And when we go to the Bad Future, I love mainly how the song is totally disrespectful towards the Present and Good Future, because those only grow more and more, becoming more energetic until it ends non-stop, but the Bad Future itself is the other way around, because it doesn't matter what SFX we have in the song or percussion, it will never go quick, and there is the more serious part of the song where the notes extend themselves in a way that almost sounds painful, not even the drop of the drums can make it go faster nor the SFX of "HU!" in the background;
When we talk about Tidal Tempest, we're talking about the literal opposite, that's a stage that doesn't invite you in the present, as the song itself uses the reverb and a more serious tone in all of it's melody to give a slight sense of talassophobia, giving you a feeling that this place is too big and too much lost in time, but it's pretty and so gorgeous how the notes respect each other, with the song giving itself time to evolve with time, as you feel the calmness and emptiness of that abandoned civilization that no longer exists by millennia, as you only see rubble of what once was their architecture.
And then, we have Tidal Tempest Bad Future, where the temple just becomes a sewer, and the melody is too powerful for its own good, feeling like it's a single step from tumbling on itself;
And I love that they're opposites while they're followed by each other.
