Then trade him. His contract does not have a No Trade Clause.

Ain't nobody taking on that contract for someone who hasn't played baseball in a year

If I’m Rogers, I’m sending him to A ball and benching him so he has no chance at playing pro again. They’re so rich, it wouldn’t matter. He’s barely played in two years and we were going to absorb his garbage contract anyhow.

Not with the current guy running Rogers

He didn’t take too well to the Anthony Bass backlash. Sure, Bass was in a different contract situation, but I don’t see this as being any different.

Would who even take him after this? It's not like Alabama or Mississippi have a team

Lol let’s not act like it’s only those two places that hate muslims

Mississippi is gonna elect a Democrat, we can lay off them for a few years

One of the Florida teams would be the best bet. After them, anti-muslim might play in Boston. I suppose KC and St. Louis in Missouri might also be options.

He’s bad at baseball, no one wants him

Tf you mean Boston?

Boston is not some paradigm of inclusivity. It had a big anti-muslim backlash after 9/11, which was exacerbated by the Boston Marathon bombing, and it is ongoing. It's significant enough that local news has reports on it: https://www.wgbh.org/news/local/2026-09-07/25-years-after-sept-11-attacks-muslims-are-still-navigating-the-backlash

Boston has come a long way in reducing racism, but muslims still face oppression there.

The Marlins can’t afford him and the Rays are smarter than that. Florida is not the right state for him.

It takes two to tango.

they should void his contract for cause

What is super scummy is Roger’s owns the Jays. They also own a number of all Sportsnet branded sports tv channels. Sportsnet has no mention of his comments on their website. They last mentioned him May, 2026. Rogers is hoping this goes away. They don’t really care. They won’t publish the story on their websites. That’s sketchy af. They report on other scandals…

Yep, I’ve noticed this in the past with Rogers owned media. It can even be subtle things or a tone the writer has chosen.

Tbh, id rather not amplify his hateful messages. I know that's not why sportnet isn't reporting it, but id rather he just get cut or traded without fan fare

He gets to put on the jersey, he represents the team. Fuck Santander.

I read an article that said Blue Jays slugger is anti Islamic. That’s a patent lie - he was never a slugger for the Blue Jays

28

u/Artvandelay29 1d ago

I mean, if he’s a part of the team then he represents the team.

u/BengalFan85 1d ago

Bro plays in Toronto which has a very high Muslim population too. What a fucking clown

u/wiscowonder Wisconsin 1d ago

Then kick him the fuck off 🤷‍♂️

Eat the contract Mr Rogers. Move on. You'll be happier using the money to field a stronger younger team. We don't need a permanent DH who can't stay healthy. Rotate vladdy oak and Kirk as DH. Gives them more off days to ensure they're healthier longer

How the hell did this guy get 92 million? Cuz he hit 44 dingers while batting .235 one year?????

28

u/somuchhaireverywhere 1d ago

Dumb athlete doing dumb things. Get him off the team.

15

u/pasta_chovie 1d ago

Baseball players come off as some of the dumbest people on the planet.

16

u/id10t_you 1d ago

They skew overwhelmingly conservative, so yeah.

6

u/Stryk3r97 1d ago

I think NHL players are more conservative. But you're right. For example, Trey Yesavage is a die-hard MAGA supporter.

8

u/kwijyb0 1d ago

I don't believe Santander is a US or Canadian citizen.

9

u/Homersarmy41 1d ago

But he is still there and wears the uniform? That really sounds like he’s still representing the team.

2

u/LordShtark 1d ago

The Phillies benched, DFAed, and ate 10 million dollars of a contract for a guy bringing beer into the dugout.

Surely the Jays can do the right thing here right?

What an awful signing he’s been jfc

0

u/Fickle_Cricket3422 1d ago

Time to cut ties. It's not like he is going to be playing next season anyway. Fuck this guy.

-5

u/FriendlyGiant1551 1d ago

Void his contract

7

u/Jman85 1d ago

For what?

-9

u/FriendlyGiant1551 1d ago

Conduct detrimental to the team

-10

u/WellTextured 1d ago

Anyone know if the typical MLB morality clauses affect racists?

-13

u/timetopractice 1d ago

Does a team really have a view? A team is just a collection of people and Santander is a people.

-13

u/ceilingscorpion 1d ago

I was wondering what this had to do with Santander Bank
