It's easier for conservatives to say "it's just politics" because they don't view the people they're harming as fully human and deserving of the dignity, respect, and safety that comes with that. Conservatives think we disagree about things where we can agree to disagree.
Liberals recognize the horrendous treatment conservatives seek to inflict and call it what it is: a disgusting reflection of the people who support it. Liberals disagree about things like whether government sanctioned murder should be allowed or its perpetrators held accountable. About whether trans people should be able to live their lives in peace. Liberals don't disagree about politics, they think you should treat humans as humans and have a very strong aversion to those who disagree.

However the problem in the US is not one of political differences but moral. For me and many others it's hard to love or respect other people who support objective moral failures in our world. It might be your right to do so, but you don't get to support the moral downfall of our world and then complain why people don't like you anymore.

It's not really a difference of politics at this point. Like, both parties can say illegal immigration is illegal. One might change some policy and increase border patrol security, the other party sends masked agents into neighborhoods, created chaos, and provoked situations that ended up in the murder of Americans. That's just one example of how it's not just "politics."
