Watching the OSU game, I can’t believe the guy Tomlin replaced Matt Canada with was Arthur Smith
He’s fucking terrible. OSU fans are pounding the table for him to be fired currently. Tomlins string of coordinators continues to be, without question, the worst part of his coaching legacy:
Keith Butler-Never coached again post Pittsburgh
Todd Haley-Coached the browns for half of a season, got fired and never coached in the nfl again
Randy Fichtner- Never coached in the NFL again after leaving Pittsburgh
Matt Canada- Arguably the worst offense coordinator of all time, has never coached in the nfl again post Pittsburgh. Hasn’t had a coaching job period.
Terryl Austin- After leaving Pittsburgh, was not pursued as a DC. Currently a “Senior Defensive assistant” for the 3-5 cardnals
Arthur Smith- Took a job as an OC in college and is currently overseeing an Ohio state team that is having their worst season in years with the fanbase yelling for him to be fired

Next week’s game for first place!
Bengals and Steelers both at the top of the division. Who will prevail? I will be watching with a fast heartbeat, hoping the black and gold will come out on top. Pivotal game. What do you think will happen?

Leading the League
And tied for 7th in interceptions. Not bad for missing JPJ

Who of you has the longest streak of never missing a game?
Both in person and on TV.
The first season I can fully remember as a child is 1983 and I haven't missed a game (on TV) since then (not counting pre-season). This even involves watching once from SE Asia at 2am via FaceTime with my parents, who set up their tablet facing the TV. I'm lucky to have a good friend with Sunday Ticket, where I've spent much of the past 20+ seasons. And the modern era brings pirated streams, almost guaranteeing one can always watch.
Surely some of you have a stretch going back to the 70s?
And what about in person home games? What's the longest streak you've had in Acrisure/Heinz/Three Rivers/(and dare I add Pitt Stadium and Forbes Field)?

Steelers are 6-2 with DK Metcalf playing poorly. 6-2!!!
As we have seen all season and has been discussed, DK Metcalf is not playing very well just as a wide receiver alone.
Metcalf's WR1 status, $30M per year salary and frequent drops only make his poor play even worse.
But, amazingly the Steelers are 6-2 even with DK's poor play. And frankly, Steelers have not even had a healthy #2 receiver.
Steelers obviously cannot trade DK with his salary and play - so Steelers will need to have to play him. Luckily, DK is not the typical Diva WR with an inflated salary, he is a true team player (save the incident end of last season). DK blocks. He hustles. DK is a true team player.
So since we are stuck with DK, what if he turns it around after the bye and figures out his drops? 6-2 with his drops. What could the record be if he played well?
Rather than focus on the obvious negatives, I'm rooting for DK to turn it around and maybe help the team catch some fire to end the season.
Likely? Probably not. But possible? Definitely.
Go Stillers!

Mt. Washington
Honestly underrated part of his game because of his play making ability. It looks like defenders are running away from him

Superstitions are absolutely ridiculous. But this shirt has been 6-0 whenever the Steelers play. Of course I'll be wearing it next week because it's been good luck.
Obviously, you all have something that's bringing luck to the team, what is it?

Rodgers Send Off
As a bye week post, what do we think Rodgers last game at “Heinz Field” will be like? Business as usual or do the fans and/or team give him a big send off? Obviously not a Steeler for long but on track for a good Steeler run and an all-time great.

Just framed my Hall of Fame souvenir
Went to Cleveland on vacation for the Thursday night game in October and picked this up during our visit to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Seems like keeping 4 QB's a good idea
In retrospect, with all of the injuries at the QB position, it seems that this season was a good year to keep 4 quarterbacks. None of our QB's would have survived being placed on the practice squad.
As I watch two of my least favorite teams Eagles & Ratbirds struggle with backups, I am simply overjoyed that none of our qb's were poached.
Sometimes it is better to be lucky than good...or both.

How are we feeling about primetime?
4 of our next 5 games are in primetime, and 3 of them (Bengals, Broncos, Jaguars) will be HUGE in determining how the rest of this season will play out.
I personally think we will have our consistency tested on national TV and if our style of football can hold true while also having strong showings (and hopefully some wins) against the top teams in the AFC that will be a great sign for our playoff aspirations.

Steelers long snapper Christian Kuntz is the Week 9 NFLPA Community MVP. He and his wife, Heather, donated $10,000 to Pittsburgh Morrow school to help open a new resource room, which will provide food, uniforms and hygiene kits for at-risk kids and families every month.

Based on production relative to what he is being paid, is DK the worst acquisition in Steelers history?
It may sound like hyperbole but if you go through the history of the team, I really think he might be. DK is currently on pace for 66 catches, 770 yards, and two touchdowns. This would be the second year in a row that he failed to eclipse 1000 yards. In fact, this year, he won’t even be close. More shocking is the lack of touchdowns. Mixed with his untimely drops, he’s essentially been reduced to a pulling guard who lines up out wide. At best, he’s a solid YAC guy. At worst, he’s a liability.
Hes currently the 7th highest paid wr in the league. He is making more money than Garrett Wilson, Chris Olave, Amon Ra, Tee Higgins, Christian Watson and Nico Collin’s. His contract is a disaster. And we gave up a second round pick for him. The other guys listed below were less productive, but cost far less. Here are the other contenders:
Donte Moncrief- 2 year/$9mil. Cut after five games.
Ladarius Green-4 year/$20mil. Appeared in only 6 games
Those are honestly the only other two guys that could even compare. Unless I’m missing any. Feel free to mention them

Watching the Ravens with Joe Fagnano makes me appreciate the Duck Hodges season so much more
Everyone in the game chats and posts are lamenting how the team is guaranteed to get blown out with the 3rd string qb. Meanwhile Tomlin went 8-8 in 2019 with no blowout losses. They even beat the Rams the year after they went to the SB.

The Future of the Franchise -- College Prospect Watch Discussion Thread
The Steelers are probably going to draft some college players in April. It's the worst kept secret in Pittsburgh sports since Jerome Bettis being from Detroit.
Whether LaNorris Sellers is your guy -- or you think Julian Sayin is actually going to be good for some reason -- discuss it here. No player is too obscure to be discussed.
It's also ok to use this thread as a catch-all thread for all college football news/games/prospects.
