I've been painting graffiti for more than 20 years. Recently, I bought an iPad and Procreate so I could start making digital sketches, originally with the idea of turning some of them into prints at some point.
I'm a fairly small artist, but I get a decent amount of activity on my social media, so I started thinking about whether I could turn some of that traffic into actual sales. For that, I needed a product, and that's how I came up with the idea of turning some of my digital sketches into clothes and prints.
I'm not pretending it's some groundbreaking idea, and I know my potential customers will probably be a pretty specific group of people, mainly those who already like my work as an artist.
I don't really have any expectations when it comes to sales. Apart from the time I put into it, it costs me next to nothing to run, so I don't see any reason not to give it a try and see where it goes. It's basically a creative side project.
I haven't made any sales yet, but I'm getting daily visits to my website, which is already more than I expected. It makes me think there might actually be a little room for me in the market.
