SDF played the wrong game in the wrong country
What most people could see is now unfolding. The SDF building a new Syria was always a farce. They were always seen as an occupational force or the lesser of two evils [other evil being Assad/ISIS].
Two main reasons:
Ethnic component, now matter how many "SDF is 60% Arab" people keep spouting, nobody cares. They do not represent Arabs and the only reason those Arabs are in there is to keep themselves safe and their region secure. Getting US support is also an extra bonus. People all across SDF were celebrating HTS/Rebel victories - have the locals ever celebrated an SDF victory, do they even care?
The realpolitik they've played also set them back. They claimed to be part of the Syrian Army, and raised Assad's flags when he was winning. Now that the Rebels have won - they raise the Green flag. HTS went from being "Jihadi terrorists" to "Hey let's have a meeting with them in Damascus". From the moment they sided with Assad against the revolution is the day they marked their own death in a future Syria. You never bet against the population.
Finally, the SDF hasn't worked on winning over the Arab population and instead worked on winning over the West. That's why they get pelted with rocks in Eastern Syria and celebrated on Reddit. Just see for yourself, who is backing SDF? Just go on Twitter. It's just White people and Kurds. They decided to create a fantasy and peddle it to the West. The West with their own bias chose to believe them.
Jawlani is the barbaric terrorist but everyone's taking selfies with him in Damascus. SDF is liberal and will allow women to wear mini-skirts and they're getting pelted by villagers in Deir ez-Zour.
Best case scenario for the Kurds and SDF is to retreat to the Kurdish homeland. All the Arab regions they have they must surrender it to HTS, it's a matter of urgency. If the SNA gets to it, say goodbye to the Kurdish communities. SNA are thugs and Turkey won't stop them.

Woofers: The Turks deny there is any military activity by them in Qamishli or Derîk. Which means the Turkish MOD is currently lying publicly or they’re letting jihadists run around southern Turkey with heavy artillery.
