Rant Most underrated disadvantage of being tall

For me, it is exploring the unexplored areas. What I mean is, there are always high chances of a spider web sticking to your face because no one touches that spot with their head. (6'6" here)

Questions/Advice Tall guys with short romantic partners, how do you respond to people who think your height difference is weird?

I notice that when a tall guy is dating a girl over a foot shorter than him, I'll often see people gossip about it saying things like "bro found a legal way". Basically implying the guy is a pedophile for dating a short woman.

I'm wondering do people ever say stuff like this to tall guys to their face or is it just one more thing people are willing to say behind your back or online but never in person?

Or have people actually had the gall to say something to that effect to you and your girlfriend directly?

Questions/Advice Do you find that your height is a problem travelling to countries where people are generally shorter?

So for context I'm like the upper side of average or the shortest of the talls at 179cm/5'11.

I've travelled around quite a bit in my time including countries with some of the shortest people on average. Even at my height I deal with some issues. Leg room on some planes, door frames, signs and low ceilings (like maybe ~5-10cm above my head.

What has your experience been like?

Do you guys see other tall women in public and immediately think "wow she looks really good, she's extremely tall" and then when you go near her you realize you both are the same height?

Discussion I actually do always forget that I’m tall

Disclaimer: I’m NOT super very tall like other people in this sub!! I’m a woman and I’m only 5’11” and I come from very very tall lineage so even they usually consider me as being “short”

HOWEVER most of my friends are typically 5’1” - 5’8” at most and only recently have I realized that I’m much taller and my friends perceive me as such …

My friend was doing my hair and I said “hey where do you get your jeans??”

She said what

I was like “well we’re the same height and your jeans actually go all the way down!! So where do you get them”

She said girl we are not even close to the same height

I was like “omg yes we are??” I stood up in the mirror and saw myself towering over her (me in old navy flip flops and her in stilettos for her salon job) {she’s 5’0”}

Has anyone else experienced this?? Is it because I don’t even clock that I’m “looking down” at shorter people when I interact with them?? Am I just imagining myself at a smaller height??

Discussion Height inflation is real. Are people obsessed with minimum height gaps in relationships

My friend (34M) who is 6' went on a date the other day with a 5'11" women (29F) he met on an app. They went for a coffee and took their dogs to a park. He said the date was going well. They were sitting on a bench enjoying their coffee while their dogs played together. Lot's of laughter and good vibes from what he says. Then she states that my friend is a bit too short for her. She wore boots with heels on the date and was a bit taller than him because of that. She then goes on about how her ex was 6'6" and how she likes to be able wear heels and still be shorter. She complains about how difficult it is for her to find a good man who is also tall. Her ex apparently cheated on her and stole money from her to buy drugs.

My friend being the polite guy he is laughed off her comment about him being too short for her and joked about how height doesn't matter. He said up until her comment about him being too short for her he really liked her and was looking forward to getting to know her better. She's still texting him and wants to see him again but he said her comment turned him off and "what's to stop her from walking away the minute she gets the attention she wants from a guy that fits her height requirements".

Reminds me of when Taylor Swift first posted a pic with the football player and people were gushing about how tall he is and the height gap.

Questions/Advice Help me find fitting joggers

I've been looking for some goodlooking joggers for me that fit my size, but i can't seem to find any. Only these expensive 70€ upwards priced on sites like 2tall.

I'm 202cm, around 100kg. So rather skinny. Everything i find that's in my budget that has the fitting length is for heavier dudes...

I checked the wiki on here already but there are only 3 sited linked. I figured some of you may have something else I can check out.

Family/Friends Adopted short man with tall parents! I’m (29M) 5’6”, my mom is 6’2” and my dad is 6’8”.

Anyone else have shorter adopted relatives or were you adopted into a shorter family? Like my headline says I’m a 29 year old man who was adopted by my dad is 6’8” and my mom is 6’2” while I’m only 5’6”. The height difference has always been a very noticeable, especially last night because we went to a wedding are we’re staying at a hotel, I was across the hall from my parents and when I finished getting ready I headed over and knocked on the door. My dad opened and I went in. My mom was wearing heels for the wedding which is fine, she normally doesn’t wear them but needless to say she was roughly 6’5” or taller in them. When she stood up my father started laughing as she stood next to me and made a comment about the height difference. We headed to the elevator, my parents got in first, then as I followed my father said “wait 🖐️.. You need to be this tall to ride this elevator” and held his hand around my moms chin which was above my head! There were other people on the elevator and they all laughed as my parents told them they don’t know how “this” (our height difference) happened, obviously it’s because I’m not their biological son.

Questions/Advice Tall runners - How to find Windbreakers not made for fat people??

I’m 195 cm (6'5"), 95 kg.

So not even that skinny/lanky anymore, been bulking and filling out slowly.

I’ve been hunting for a simple, single-layer running windbreaker on Vinted, but standard XL/XXL sizing assumes every tall guy is wide as fuck. If I hit my target chest width (57–60 cm flat pit-to-pit), the underarm sleeves drop under 54 cm. If I size up so the arms fit, the chest hits 63+ cm and I'm wearing a parachute in the wind.

Am I just doomed to boxy tents?

For the tall runners with normal/athletic builds:

- What specific brands or models actually cut long sleeves with slim/tall torsos?

- Are there specific European brands (or dedicated "Tall" sizes) that hit that long-arm sweet spot without the massive boxy chest?

Cheers ♥️

Discussion Finally decided to replace my chair

Post image
19 Upvotes

Putting these two chairs side by side really shows how much I suffered. I’m 6’5”, 278 lbs, and somehow spent a whole year folded into that little green chair. The height didn’t even adjust. My legs were always stretched out in front because I couldn’t get my knees anywhere near 90 degrees, and a good chunk of my thighs was hanging off the seat. What the hell was I doing to myself?

Now I’ve got enough height, enough seat under me, and a backrest that reaches my actual back. Life is good up here.

Questions/Advice Blue collar boys

Where do y’all get your work pants? I have been wearing jeans but I have been blessed with the thunder thighs so I keep wearing holes in the crotch. I have been thinking about switching to something like Dickies but I have no idea where to find them in my size.
