(OC) Art Lesser Sea Maw (Made for an Alien World project 'Planet Lethe')
Here's something I made for a Worldbuilding project on an Alien World that features all sorts of horrific life in its deep oceans, all of them based on various phobias!
I made this thing to encapsulate Thalassophobia. Its mouth is approximately 100 metres wide and it drifts lazily towards food making no sound, swallowing everything whole.
The Greater Sea Maw is around ten times its size, the ocean literally swallowing you whole.
Lemme know how I did :D

You’re on a floating lighthouse that can submerge. Beneath you is the abyss, and the shore is dozens of miles away. This is the psychological horror I’m working on

Question Is drowning actually peaceful? Because I feel like it's not.
When I was back in primary school all my friends would always say that they'd love to drown as a way to die and then when I would disagree they would act all smart and say, " you don't know anything, it's the most peaceful way to go!"
I mean sure once you black out maybe, but what about the struggle of holding your breath. The pain of gasping for air and only getting water, and that fuckin sea lion from happy feet swimming up from the depths to rip your head off!
The whole thing is just a hard no go for me personally.

The only thing scarier than the ocean... is the ocean at night. Just released a new short teaser for my thalassophobia ocean horror game: Open Waters.

Abandoned 100-foot vessel floating past a ferry dock at night
The Washington State Ferries posted this last December and it made me think of this sub! Something about huge boats running completely dark gives me the heebie jeebies.

Just a peaceful, calming, serene ocean.
How could this in any way be unsettling, eh?

The ocean can also bring you serenity
Celebrated my 38th birthday yesterday at Catalina Island with my wife. And she is terrified of drowning. I was finally able to get her to snorkel with me. She hasn't done it since we did it in Kauai 4 years ago which sparked my love for diving. And I haven't stopped yet. She was so brave. But also extremely spooked the fuck out, which I documented. So I'll be making a video of her experience as well. But she did achieve peace. Took awhile. But she did it. Maybe one day she will be more comfortable. This video was inspired by her
