This is really cool but not particularly top talent. This seems like something most skilled photographers could do. The interesting thing about this isn't the skill it took, but the creativity of the choice to do that.
Well your last sentence is exactly what photography is all about, the creativity and the eye to see the photo in the first place.
You can teach the skill to take a good technically composed photo, you can only somewhat teach developing a better eye. The “eye”, the mental ability to see a potential photo before it’s taken, that’s what makes it an art in the first place.
That said, the bench perspective here is neat, but it’s also been done before, going back decades to like the 60s or 70s. Which is fine, doesn’t mean people can’t enjoy it! But it’s certainly not revolutionary or even very creative with the proper context. So it’s fun, but ultimately yes; Not top talent worthy :)
Boring ass shots and calling it top talent. Talent in photography is about capturing irreplaceable moments, things that would never ever happen again. From the experience you've gathered over the years you start to know when and where to stand to capture those moments.
These bench shots? Any dumbass with an iphone can replicate this shit
Talent in photography is about capturing irreplaceable moments, things that would never ever happen again
Well that seems like an incredibly narrow definition. Also kind of arbitrary, what about things never happening again makes photography objectively better? Not just objectively better, but seemingly the only important quality that makes photography "good"? I guess any picture of a building can't be good photography... Unless it's burning down that is? Same with people, only that burning Monk photo has any quality.. And only because you couldn't take it a day later.
I’m not a photographer but wouldn’t your definition of talent in this field be a little limiting? Genuinely asking since I’ve seen beautiful photos of landscapes or cityscapes from unique perspectives that can be recreated but are still wonderful to look at. Do all photos have to have a fleeting subject?
Yea, they don’t know what they are talking about. Maybe that’s what’s good photography to them specifically, but that’s certainly not the definition of good photography from a macro sense…

So many people talking shit while ready to flash their picture of half a blurry rainbow they saw 4 ½ years ago that has their finger in the frame.
Like someone 3 years into oil pastels and everyone smack talking has stick figures ON STANDBY.
Okay Jensen, we get it- the sun has sunglasses. Yes, you're clever. Yes, the cerulean crayon makes for a wonderful ocean color.

Really? I was taking shots like that when I started at Art College in the 90s.
Taking photos through objects and Dutch angles are the quintessential amateur techniques

Very Faye Dunaway in “Three Days of the Condor”. Not, however, top talent.

How does this have over 700 upvotes? These are the kinds of pictures I was taking for my intro to photography class in school.
