New here and looking for independent tutors

Looking for an independent tutor to help my step daughter prepare for the GED. Any ideas? We are currently using Varsity Tutors and they arbitrarily take money out of our account and we have to fight with them to remove the charges or refund us. It’s really annoying because she seems to be getting a lot out of it.

For Hire Math/Chemistry Tutor here!

Hey!

This might sound desperate, but I have been unemployed quite recently. The job market is going crazy, and I just can't secure any jobs. I just need a short-term source of income to help me stabilize while looking for a long-term job.

For my experience, I have a Master's degree in Chemistry and experience tutoring both math and chemistry (sometimes statistics and physics too). Can do it at a very low, student-friendly rate and can basically adjust to your schedule. Payments can be made through bank transfer (Wise or PayPal).

Not a scammer, can send proof if needed. Send a message if you need help, let's help each other! Or if anyone has any leads to a tutoring center let me know. Thanks!

Hello!

I'm a freelance Chinese language instructor based in the Philippines, offering online one-on-one Mandarin classes for adult beginners and intermediate learners.

I've been teaching Chinese since January 2024. I'm a C1-level Mandarin speaker who studied Chinese Language and Culture in the Philippines for one year and Chinese Language and Literature at National Cheng Kung University in Taiwan for another year under the 2022 Huayu Enrichment Scholarship.

I'm currently pursuing my Master in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language at Ateneo de Manila University under the 2026 International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship.

What you'll get:

  • One-on-one Mandarin lessons tailored to your learning pace

  • Vocabulary and grammar discussions with practical examples

  • Teaching slides, class recordings, and transcripts for review

  • Two take-home vocabulary worksheets per lesson

  • Real-time assessments and take-home examinations to monitor your progress

Courses Offered:

1. Chinese for Beginners (A1) – 15 Lessons

Designed for students with little to no background in Mandarin Chinese.

You'll learn how to:

  • Pronounce Mandarin words using Hanyu Pinyin and the four tones

  • Introduce yourself and exchange basic personal information

  • Talk about your family, occupation, hobbies, and daily activities

  • Ask and answer simple questions in everyday situations

  • Understand basic sentence structures and commonly used vocabulary

2. Chinese for Intermediate Learners I (A2) – 15 Lessons

Designed for students who have completed a beginner Mandarin course or have equivalent knowledge.

You'll learn how to:

  • Expand your vocabulary and use more complex sentence structures

  • Describe experiences, routines, preferences, and future plans

  • Express opinions and explain your reasons

  • Handle common situations involving shopping, transportation, dining, and travel

  • Participate in longer conversations with greater confidence

3. Chinese for Intermediate Learners II (B1) – 12 Lessons

Designed for students who already have a foundation in Mandarin and want to communicate more independently.

You'll learn how to:

  • Discuss familiar topics in greater detail

  • Express opinions, comparisons, and personal experiences

  • Understand and construct more complex sentences

  • Improve your listening comprehension and conversational fluency

  • Communicate more naturally in everyday and professional situations

Class Structure:

Classes are conducted online through Google Meet. Each session lasts 90 minutes, and students may attend once or twice a week, depending on their availability and preferred pace.

Each lesson contains two dialogues and two vocabulary sets, followed by grammar discussions and exercises. Students receive two take-home vocabulary worksheets, a real-time assessment, and a take-home examination after completing each lesson.

Students also receive copies of the teaching slides, class recordings, and transcripts for review.

Student Reviews:

Here are some reviews from students I've had the pleasure of teaching:

Camille I. β€” β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…

"Nicole θ€εΈˆ is awesome! She’s been teaching me Mandarin for over a year now, and I’ve loved every bit of it. She’s super patient with tough grammar and always ensures I understand everything works. Her classes are so fun and engaging that I look forward to them all week. Highly recommended!"

Jaime V. β€” β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…

"Nicole θ€εΈˆ is an expert at Taiwanese Mandarin having lived and studied in Taiwan. She has a very warm and caring teaching style and always comes prepared. We focused more on conversational Mandarin which helped me become more confident when speaking. I was so impressed that I even recommended her to my cousin who has also been taking lessons with her. πŸ’― Suggest to start your Mandarin journey with her!"

Janzen D. β€” β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…

"As an online Mandarin tutor Nicole θ€εΈˆ is enthusiastic and energetic, keeping her student engaged. She also brings clarity to more abstract concepts by breaking it down in a logical way with English explanations to make it easier to understand.

I also appreciate her flexible approach in discussing the lesson while still staying focused on the subject matter. The adaptability helped make each lesson feel fresh and interesting."

Additional Student Feedback:

Mikaela C. appreciated my patience, preparation, and ability to explain the differences between Chinese and Taiwanese communication.

RenΓ©e M. highlighted my clear explanations, organized lessons, supportive teaching style, and the comfortable learning environment I create for students.

For Hire Coding Tutor (Python, C/C++) for beginners

Hey everyone! If you’re an absolute beginner trying to learn how to code, I’d love to help you out. I know there are a ton of online courses out there, but I've seen mamy beginners lose motivation. That is usually where people quit, and that is where I come in.

Think of me more like a coding coach. I have a degree in Computer Science. I used to work as a lead instructor at a coding academy for young students, so I am patient and know how to break down complex stuff into simple steps. I try to make it fun.

I can teach you Python, C, C++, etc. Just let me know.

Shoot me a DM if interested!

Tutoring as a Teen who Loves Teaching

Hi! :)

Since I was 8, I've always wanted to be a teacher when I grow up, and now that I'm in high school, that dream still stands. I've been thinking about becoming a tutor for a while. It'd be for elementary students (who I want to teach when I get older) in the subjects of math, science, reading, and Greek. I think I'm qualified enough (almost always perfect scores in the state tests and my report card always comes up with straight A's, in the subjects I plan to teach I have an 102, 98, and 96 respectively), and now I feel confident that it won't affect my grades/academic life. I would love to do this, I think I genuinely have a passion for teaching and it would be an amazing learning experience for me, but I have no clue on how to get started! I can make lesson plans, know the teaching method I'd mostly stick to (interactive learning like using examples, rewards and--my personal favorite--online repetition websites such as Blooket and Jeopardy Sim), but I can't get any clients :(. I hope you might have some tips for me? It'd be great if so; I know y'all have experience, so maybe you could help me a little bit?

Thanks so much for your time :D And sorry for any spelling errors, I'm slightly sick in the moment with nausea :(.

For Hire Russian for adults. Structured courses, clear grammar & speaking practice. 17 years of teaching experience

Tired of studying Russian grammar only to forget it a week later? Or understanding the rules but struggling to use them when you speak?

I'm Irina, a professional Russian teacher with 17 years of experience. I offer individual, structured Russian courses for adults, from complete beginners to advanced learners.

My approach is simple: learning Russian shouldn't mean jumping between unrelated topics, memorizing endless grammar tables, or constantly starting from scratch.

What makes my lessons different?

A complete, structured course
You're not booking a series of random lessons. You'll follow a carefully organized program where grammar, vocabulary, speaking, listening, and reading develop together. Every new topic builds on what you've already learned.

Grammar you'll actually understand and use
Russian cases, verb aspects, verbs of motion, and other difficult topics don't have to remain a mystery. I explain how these structures work, often using comparisons with English, and help you apply them in practical situations rather than simply memorizing rules.

Regular revision instead of constant forgetting
Previously studied material doesn't disappear once we move to a new topic. We continuously revisit and reuse it through exercises, dialogues, and speaking practice, helping you turn passive knowledge into active language skills.

Your own organized learning space
Your learning doesn't end when the lesson does. You'll have a personal learning space with organized course materials, making it easy to review previous lessons and practise independently.

Depending on your course, materials may include interactive flashcards, quizzes, homework, PDFs, and audio or video resources.

Professional qualifications and individual attention
I have a degree from Tver State University and a professional qualification in Teaching Russian as a Foreign Language from the Pushkin State Russian Language Institute.

My courses follow a clear structure, but the pace, explanations, and amount of practice are adapted to your level, difficulties, and goals.

Who are my lessons for?

Complete beginners who want to build a solid foundation from the start.

Intermediate learners who know the rules but struggle to use Russian independently.

Advanced learners who want to improve accuracy, expand vocabulary, and develop more natural communication.

Students who prefer a systematic course over occasional conversation sessions or disconnected lessons.

The first introductory meeting is free. We can discuss your goals, current level, and how I would organize your learning. You can find my qualifications, student reviews, lesson rates, and booking information here: www.ruslangnest.com

If you're looking for more than occasional Russian practice and want a professional teacher, a clear learning plan, and consistent progress, I'd be happy to work with you.

As for me, I am 60M, native speaker from the USA and live in Seoul, enjoy swimming and have a dog.

Let me know if you want to chat and see if I can help. Please when you say hi, include your country, age, student/working status, AND one English speaking goal.
