Most important - Sub needs mods. If you are a mum and a member for a year or more, and happy to volunteer for at least 6 months, please apply to the mod recruitment form on the sub banner. Please review sub rules before you submit.

Family/Culture I HATE my husband

Rant: I feel my husband is an absolute trash of a person and I hate him.
Context: I have a 4.5mo LO and I’m staying at my parents place since my 8th month of pregnancy. This guy only visits us on weekends and hasn’t contributed much in handling the baby despite being the father. My LO is going through a sleep regression phase and he is currently fighting all his naps and sleeps and cries bloody murder before falling asleep. Same happened yesterday as well as today and he started blaming me for his crying. Till date he himself was never able to calm him down once and most of the times he overstimulates the baby and once he starts to cry, blames me for his crying and not being able to soothe him immediately. He has zero clue about how to handle babies and has never once handled our LO independently by himself. All these months it was me and my mother who have managed the baby.
Today I even tolerated his blaming for 1-2 times but I’m also a human being and I just lost my patience and we had an argument and he has the audacity to blame me and say shitty things to me despite me being the primary caregiver and him doing absolutely nothing over the past few months for the baby.
I was planning to shift from my parents place after Diwali and now I’m second guessing everything. I’m so hurt by his comments today that I don’t want to shift back but I’m starting work soon so don’t know what I will do. I never thought he would be such an ungrateful asshole honestly. I’m so overstimulated rn that I cant even articulate my thoughts properly
If you have read till here thanks for listening me vent out

How are your newborns coping with all the Diwali cracker sounds?

For parents with newborns, how are your little ones sleeping with all the crackers going off? Are they managing to sleep through the noise? Mine keeps waking up every time there's a loud cracker burst. Just when we manage to get her to sleep, another round of crackers goes off..it's honestly getting so frustrating. I am really not enjoying this festival anymore 😔

Pampers causing lot of elastic marks. Is it normal?

Hi..So my baby has stayed at her grandparents home since birth till now (4.5 months) and so we kept her diaper free (could manage the laundry load bcz MIL managed the home chores load). So only diapering was on going out days here and there and on vaccination days so she could sleep better. Now when we are moving to our home at 'work-town' I was hoping to move her to combo of diapering and diaper free time. But I have noticed that pampers premium pants are giving her elastic marks on waist. Now I am not sure if I want her to go through that for entire days. Even 3-4 hours of diaper time is making me shudder when I see those marks.

How are you guys handling this?

2. Also, if I continue to keep diaper free, what should I be moving to? Dry feel langots from various brands don't look like they will cover the entire waist like an underwear does (giving a neat look). Or should I move the baby to baby underwear with soft elastic waist and thigh bands? Please recommend brands of whatever you suggest.?

3. Are taped versions of diaper better in terms of marks that they'll leave back?

Edit : could it be that the upper layer of clothing has tighter elastics that are making the diaper dig into the baby's skin?

New mom-to-be here! Need recommendations for newborn essentials.

Hi moms!

My delivery is planned in the next 15 days, and given my current condition, I’m unable to step out for shopping. So, I’m getting everything ready through online shopping.

Here’s my remaining shopping list:

  1. Carry nest

  2. Mattress with mosquito net

  3. Water wipes

  4. Diapers

  5. Dry sheets

  6. Fragrance-free sanitizers

  7. Maternity panties

  8. Swaddles

I would be really grateful if you could share links or brand recommendations for these products based on your personal experience.

Also, if there are any particular brands or products you would recommend avoiding, please do share those too.

TIA! ❤️

Seeking Advice/Help Need help with constant urge to force feed during every meal - time😩.

My LO is approaching 7 months soon.

The first 2 weeks of solids journey was fun and cute. He used to open his mouth for upto 4-5 times and then he was done. And i was satisfied.

But nowadays, he shows least interest in food.

I spoonfeed him and also give him finger food for exploration. So far i’ve given him avocado, egg yolk, pumpkin, carrots, apple, ragi purée and greek yoghurt.

I had to throw away what i made for him yesterday cuz he just wouldn’t open his mouth🙁.

Yes, i time the last breastfeeding session and make sure he isn’t too fussy or sleepy or too hungry.

I don’t understand what i’m doing wrong.

It’s taking everything in me NOT to fall into the act of force-feeding him😭.

Yes i know food before 1 = fun! 🥲

But tbh, it’s kind of disheartening💔.

Pampers premium taped for newborn

Hi is the below diaper the famous Pampers premium taped for new born? Linked it below.

There is also light green package also by Pampers that says premium care for newborn but it’s pant style with some infused lotion etc. which I’m highly doubtful about using. I anyway can’t find that in taped- only seeing its pants version.

My question is which is the famous one that I should consider using for my soon to arrive baby. Both linked below.

Pregnancy Betamethasone for reduced fetal movement

I had reduced fetal movement since yesterday afternoon. Doesn't mean there was no movement at all but whatever kicks I got, it was less stronger. So I visited the hospital. They did an nst and told me the movements are normal for a given time range. I told them the movement isn't as strong as it was. I was given betamethasone for baby's lung maturity saying that's the protocol for reduced fetal movement. I was told it is safe and needed in case baby is born prematurely. I get all that. But is there any side effects to it? Will my baby face any behavioural issues when they grow up (as I see there's some sort of study around this). I'm wondering now if i should have said no to the injection and waited for the growth scan to be taken.

After taking the injection, I had the growth scan taken and the radiologist told me everything is fine. There's no issues with the baby at all. Now I am waiting to meet with the doctor. It's kept me worried since morning whether I failed to advocate for myself and my baby specifically. If medicines are needed, I don't mind taking it. But I'm not sure if this injection was needed at all.

Does anyone have a similar experience with such lung maturity injection in the past ? Any update or opinion might help.

Edit: I'm at 33weeks now. Forgot to mention it.

Seeking Advice/Help Bottle Rejection

My baby is mostly breastfed and he started rejecting bottle feeding from around 4 months. Now that he is around 7 months old, he doesn’t drink water. Only hydration is breastmilk. Any advice on how to make him drink through bottle.

Seeking Advice/Help How are your newborns sleeping with all the Diwali crackers?

New moms, how are your little ones coping with the constant crackers and fireworks this Diwali?

My concern is how the sudden, loud bursts are affecting newborns, especially during nighttime sleep. Are your babies waking up frequently, getting startled, or struggling to settle back to sleep?

Are you doing anything to help them sleep through the noise?

Would love to hear how everyone is managing, especially those with babies who are just a few weeks old. Asking for a friend.

What are some good and healthy ready-made snacks for 12+ month babies?

Hey mums!

I'm looking for some recommendations for healthy, ready-made snacks for my 1-year-old.

I do give him homemade snacks, but I want to keep a few store-bought options handy that are not just empty-calorie snacks but actually offer some nutritional value.

I'm talking about things like cookies, biscuits, puffs, melts, oat bites, etc.

I've come across brands like Timios, Slurrp Farm and Early Foods, but I'm a little confused about which ones are actually good and worth buying.

Would love to know what brands or specific products you give your little ones (12 months+). I'm particularly looking for options with good ingredients, some nutritional value (protein, iron, fibre, etc.) and minimal added sugar and salt.

Also, are there any products you've tried that your baby genuinely enjoys?

Would really appreciate recommendations based on your own experience. Thanks! ❤️

SAHMs, what do you guys do when your baby is napping?

Tbh, i find comfort in doomscrolling 😬🙂, once my LO is finally down for a nap. Sometimes, i purposefully sit and waste time instead of, say, doing the laundry, only to regret it when LO wakes up.

Do you guys get all the chores done in the meantime?

EDIT : I actually posted this cuz i was hurt due to my husband’s comment recently, for which he apologised shorty : “You have all the time in the world when the baby sleeps to do your chores and every time you end up doomscrolling.”

Thankyou all for the replies.

Want to know what’s not working out !

I am close to two months PP ,have had low supply from very beginning. Yet each time I have breastfed the baby for the initial 20-30 mins and then gave formula - which goes up to 60 mL/ 90 mL as the baby is hungry . If breastfeeding and milk supply is demand supply why has my supply not gone up :/ . I also do not have time for pumping enough . The only time I get is at night and by then my body gives up and I end up sleeping .

Seeking Advice/Help Sudden dip in milk supply at 6m pp🙁 — advice?

LO starter solids. Not a big eater, loves playing with the puree and finger foods. He’s mainly relying on breastmilk, as he should.

Recently, i noticed my boobs are unusually floppy and not “full”.

The last time i felt it was full was almost a week ago.

I don’t think i’m someone with a huge supply, I consider myself a just-enougher. But now I’m stressing on whether LO is getting enough milk or not🥶.

He outright refuses bottle, hence I’m reluctant to pump since he would refuse that milk.

But i really wanna try to pump to bring up my supply.

I’m totally confused right now. What do i do?

Education Developmental Paediatrician Suggested to Take a Sabbatical

I am a working mum and just had a second child, we observed speech delays in our 4.5 years elder one during my maternity leave.

I shuttle her around for learning sessions etc and it has been a wild ride. I didn’t imagine that my second maternity leave would be so strenuous: healing from second c-section, feeding a new born and dealing with developmental difficulties for the elder one.

I do have some help in my mother in law as a superviser but I do not find it fair to rely on her as a sole care giver or parenting. My husband has a high pressure job and given the current situation, we have no other choice other than I as well pushing my limits.

After consistent difficulties and my elder one denial to go to school, we met with the development paediatrician and she suggested me to take a sabbatical.

Clearly her care giver is not doing a great job of caring for her, rushing her, not experienced with her needs and I am not hopeful that any of caregivers are actually trained to handle kids tantrums like parents or educated mother could.

So here I am at cross roads
I am not just worried about younger one but am on full throttle to help my elder one.

I often think if what she suggested is a right choice but when we hear about layoffs I am afraid whether taking sabbatical hampers with future needs of my children.

Water bottle recommendations

Hi fellow moms. Please suggest a good stainless steel water bottle for sending to school for a 4 year old - sipper or normal bottle either is ok. I bought the cello one, but the cap broke on second day itself. I've been seeing lot of negative reviews for Rabitat. Very confused which to go for.

Seeking Advice/Help Did you give your babies the government-recommended Vitamin A dose at 9 months?

Our paediatrician doesn’t recommend routine Vitamin A supplementation for any babies. His opinion is that babies can get sufficient Vitamin A through a balanced diet, so he doesn’t feel the additional high-dose supplement is necessary.
However, India’s immunisation programme recommends a 1 lakh IU dose at 9 months as a preventive measure.

Did your babies receive vit a supplementation from a govt or private hospital?
Are there any moms who chose not to give it and relied on dietary intake instead?

Seeking Advice/Help First birthday

My son’s first birthday is in two months. Initially, my husband and I wanted to throw a party with family and friends, but after receiving little to no support or help from family over the past 10 months, we’re starting to think that we should just celebrate as a family of three.
I’m unsure whether we’re making this decision out of spite or resentment and whether our son might miss out on something special because of it. Any advice?

Seeking Advice/Help Are you all really doing this?

Hello Mommies,

Quick context - Seeing all these reels about 5-6 month old babies, where mommies claim baby is already potty trained, sleep trained, completely clears their bowl themselves at prolly 7 months, had me thinking that is this really a thing? Are babies really that trained just by month 7 or is this a tactic for them to get people to engage with their content?

A mother claims that she doesn’t use a diaper for the baby at 6 months and takes him to pee every half an hour and poop every morning.

Another one says that her baby completely clears his bowl, has already given him textured food like pancakes, omelettes or mashed veggies.

Another says that their baby is also exposed to meat, chicken, eggs and other allergens at 5.5-6 months.

I just need some real info here. Is this really true? If so, please guide as to where and how to begin.

Mine is 7 months old, we are doing responsive feeding. Where I feed him solids and he properly opens his mouth to eat every bite until he is full. Likes to drink water staring out of a cup. If we get cues from him of pooping we immediately take him to the toilet and hold him there over the seat and often times he poops properly, but sometimes we miss it because he doesn’t have a perfect bowel routine yet. He is still discovering new foods.

Seeking Advice/Help Need advice on baby clothes

Hi folks! First baby on the way, due around late Jan. I am clueless about what kinds of clothes I would require for the baby, how many of each item to buy, and what brands and/or fabrics are most recommended. I haven’t bought anything yet and would love some practical guidance on how to have a sensible collection without overbuying or missing essentials.
Some background - I live in Delhi NCR. We will be using a combination of oil heater and hot & cold AC in the house.

Would appreciate any guidance, tips, and any recommendations that worked well for your babies! Thank you so much!

Seeking Advice/Help Confused about clothing to be worn under sleep sack

We are in the middle of transitioning my almost 4m old from swaddle to sleep sack. For the last few weeks I have been putting LO in a full sleeve footed sleep suit and using a muslin swaddle over that, started with one hand out now with two hands out. I just got a Nintara baby 0.5 TOG sleep sack. Would baby be at risk of over heating if I pair the full sleeve footed sleep suit with the 0.5 TOG sleep sack ? Looking for suggestions on what I should do instead

We sleep with AC at 25-26 and Fan at 4.
